While putting Etho as a driving force within the Shortgrass rivalry can be fun, I also think they are pretty interesting when it comes to just the two of them fighting. I guess it's personal preference because I like it when Bdubs isn't constantly associated with Etho and have no motivations outside of him (because when it comes to boatboys and other stuff Etho gets to have his own relationships and dynamics outside of Bdubs). It's especially funny if it has nothing to do with Etho at all and it's only about the horses.
I don't know if Bdubs notices or is bothered by boatboys' 'obsession' thing going on (if they are, please do give me timestamps, I haven't watched the first half of bdubs hcs10), but what I've noticed that whenever he talks about Joel, the only issue that comes up is the horse thing.
Joel never really uses Etho as something to tease him about (outside of PL asking him if he'd jump off a cliff, and that wasn't even about Etho, it was Joel being annoyed that Bdubs boated his base). If he does, I don't think Bdubs really acknowledges it (e.g. the statue thing where Joel pretended it was built by Etho, and Bdubs never found out). But he actively uses horses to fuck with Bdubs and get his attention (because he's a fucking freak). Purposefully showing Bdubs the horse heads in his base but trying to be coy about it, going 'oopsies! didn't know that was there, don't look!' and making it so Bdubs doesn't have a solid reason to get mad at him for because Joel is so cute and innocent <3 Plus Joel using horse heads to make the signboard near Bdubs' base. Outside of horsing, Joel also tries to blow Bdubs up with the tree bomb at Exile.
The fact that generally Joel is a little scared of Bdubs (LimL where he gets scared off by Bdubs shouting at him, typically backing off while giggling when Bdubs starts getting agitated, like when Bdubs is climbing up Joel's stairs for Joel's base tour and calls him a sick freak or at the start of WL where bdubs threatens him <333 they are so everything) is so funny because Joel could easily beat Bdubs in PvP. Joel loves when Bdubs gets mad at him (giggling at the sign Bdubs put at his portal, at Bdubs threatening him during the World Tour about the statue), he loves tugging Bdubs' pigtails. He wants Bdubs to kick his ass so bad so he keeps antagonising him. Unfortunately Bdubs prefers to fume quietly and is all bark and no bite so it never goes anywhere.
Another thing is that Joel would never touch Bdubs' personal horses. Bdubs never acknowledges this much either but Joel never directly threatens Climb 10 or anypony and has said he would not kill Bdubs' horses, which also carries over to Simple Life where I think he only went on a killing spree after Bdubs died (?) Don't quote me on that because I didn't watch Simple Life but I think I saw someone mention that.
I do believe that Bdubs watched Joel's video and decided to 'Yes, and-' the sign thing to give them a reason to interact more and I'm so excited about it. I'm not gonna get my hopes up but I really want them to talk more even if it's just leaving signs for each other if they're not online at the same time. (And hey, if we want to continue to trend of Bdubs making someone a leader like in hcs7 or hcs9, maybe he could do something with Joel, or someone opposing Joel. I don't think it'll be Etho because Etho loves being on the team opposing Bdubs in Hermitcraft but that would be so funny actually. If Bdubs' is on the resistance's side for once, against whatever the fuck Joel's doing in his basement, that would be really fun. PLEASE I'LL TAKE ANYTHING.)
Anyway this ended up derailing but I just love Shortgrass so much, I kind of needed to compile some of their moments into one post because I don't have time to clip all their moments into a video.
