He found it even more curious when she told him her younger siblings were twins themselves. “That’s cool. Can you ask your sister to look after the twins? Then you could take a vacation at least. Even if it’s not as clean of a departure as you truly desire.”

“ maybe. ” she wouldn’t agree or disagree, not yet. “ thea’s so busy running around trying to fix this mess. she’s strong but i don’t want her to take on more than she can handle and trust me, my family is a lot. ”

“I had to leave behind my twin,” he explained. “It felt like I was ripping my own heart in half. I knew our mom would take care of her though, and it doesn’t sound like you can rely on that. How old are your siblings? If you don’t mind my asking.”

“ you have a twin ? ” she sounded more surprised than she should have been, but she hadn’t met any twins outside of her own family. the curiosity quelling any suspicion she felt about his following question. “ my youngest siblings are twins, roman and rain. they’re eighteen. and my other sister is twenty-one. ”

“I don’t think so, but I’ve been in your shoes, and I did leave. Best choice I ever made.” Of course he’d left with the promise that he’d return when the right time came, but she didn’t need to know that. “For what it’s worth I’m sorry to hear that, and I think it’s totally understandable to want to run from it.”

she was quiet as she listened to him, truthfully it wasn’t something she should even be considering. " there’s also the matter of my siblings. perks of being the oldest means i get to worry about what would happen to all of them... i probably would’ve followed through with this by now if not for them. and thanks, i guess. ”
