A simple shrug of his shoulders was his response. He didnāt give a shit if other people thought his self-inflicted abuse was wrong or somehow in their minds untrue. As long as he avoided the subject in public, then he could continue his shitatistic life.
"Same here. Iām still getting used to this shitty place too so I thought walking around would help me familiarize everything."
Karkat looked at Roxy a bit more closely now and didnāt really get a hostile vibe for once like everybody else he encountered through the halls from mere bumps of the shoulder. It took him a moment before he swallowed his cowardiness and poise himself better to say:
"Wanna walk with me and show me around this god forsaken place?"
Her expression lit up at his question, and she quickly nodded. āSure!" A humongous grin on her face, she reached for his arm, in order to drag him along with her.
Roxy began to run into the next hallway. Everything looked the same, just like it always did. All the doors looked identical, all the windows looked identical, it all had a rather creepy effect. She turned back to look back at Karkat, her eyes a tired mess.Ā
"Are ya gonna be able to keep up?" She jokingly asked.
A quiet, shady voice began to whisper something to the blonde. She knew exactly who it was, and she was infuriated by itās appearance. It was none other than one of the dastardly voices. Her expression tightened, and she wanted to kick, scratch, punch. But, she knew she might scare Karkat if she did that, even if it seemed to be impossible to scare him. Oh well, itās not like she knows everything about everyone, so maybe there was a way.Ā
She chose to violently curse out the voice, instead of doing anything that could possibly harm someone.
"Oh, uh, sorry about that. Just another damn voice in my head."
"Hopefully this wont bite me in the ass" Karkat thought to himself as he followed the somehow excited, exhaustedly looking blonde.
How she was able to navigate in this building was amazing by itself since Karkat couldn't even get any landmarks for any of the halls or rooms. When he was taking a moment to memorize a certain stain on the wall to somehow make a mental map, Roxy called for him.
"Yea, yea, I'm coming, you can hold your bloody horses, unicorns, or what other running hoof beast you may like."
Karkat then paused when he noticed Roxy's sudden stiffiness in her body and face. Right as he was about to ask what was wrong, she exploded yelling at some unknown figure. He blinked a few times, but shook it off when she apologized for her sudden outburst.
"Does it look like I honestly care? We're in a mental institution so there was bound to be some reason you were kicked into this place like me. Just .... There is no need to apologize, we're all insane in our own way."
Karkat was never good at soothing a person so he just rambled a bit longer. He knew slightly of what could be happening in her head due to the voices he would hear in his nightmares that he avoids completely until his body finally gives out to need of sleep.Ā
