Marlene smirked and took out her wand, flicking it toward Dorcas’s books. “I’ll save the word idiot for something a little more interesting.”
“I’m offended, Marlene,” she joked, grateful for the help. “I think it’s very interesting. Anyway, how are you holding up?”

He looked up, nodding gratefully. “Yeah, sure. I’ll try not to drag too much of this gunk inside.” Felix headed up to the doorway and slid into the building, thankful for the heat, as well. “D’you have water somewhere?”
“I do have a mop,” Dorcas replied with an amused arch of the eyebrow. Once entering the familiar warmth of her shop, she turned to face the boy. “I could always remove it with magic if you’d like? Self cleaning spells are pretty easy when it comes to shoes.”

Marlene looked over at the girl and gave her a half smirk, “What do you use your wand for, Dorc?”
“Oh, I don’t know, back scratches mostly,” Doe grinned cheekily in reply. “I left it inside the shop, you can call me an idiot if you’d like.”
My parents read me fairy tales every night and I used to believe I was a fairytale princess, like every young girl. I had all the Disney dressing-up costumes and would play every character.
Arthur had always been horrible with names and he felt horrible that he couldn’t remember her’s, though the brunette girl did look familiar. “Yes. I’m sorry though, I can’t say I’m as good as you when it comes to names. I forget my own children’s at least twelve times a day.” He gave her an apologetic smile and placed the key in her pocket before holding out his hand. “Give me a few of those. It’ll probably be easier than carrying them all yourself.”
“I’m Dorcas Meadowes, but a lot of people call me Doe,” she smiled. “Oh yes! You’re husband of Molly, aren’t you? I’m decent friends with Fabian.” The brunette shifted the bags in her arms as he planted the key in her pocket. “Would you? I think that would be very kind of you. I did go a little haywire with my purchases today but it’s quite hard to resist when you know it’s probably going to rain later and actually muggle London was surprisingly quiet today.”

"Could you help me carry in this box?" Dorcas scratched her head, the other hand rested on her hip. "Apparently I'm just all brains and no muscle."
Leaning down, Arthur picked up the shiny object on the ground and looked up at the person who was walking away. “Excuse me,” he called, moving to catch up to said person. “Is this your’s?”
The brunette turned at the male voice. "My key! Oh, gosh, thank you! It's Arthur isn't it?" She struggled for a second as her arms were completely full with shopping bags (all filled with books, mind you). "Um, do you mind just putting it in my coat pocket?"
[Despite having gone inside a while ago, Xeno was still wrapped in all of his layers and periodically shivering beneath them. Not about to surrender to a cold, he’s still out, even if the fact that he still had to eat was the true motivating factor. Obviously under the weather, he sounded congested when he spoke and was doing his best not to cough]
I don’t know what you are talking about. I feel fine.
"Xeno," Dorcas said firmly. "You're practically round due to all those layers and yet you're still shivering. Plus when you talk you sound like you have nose plugs. And Xeno," she starts in a slightly more whiney voice, "I haven't seen you much since Hogwarts! Please come inside! Please?"

Felix turned around upon heading what the young woman said, pulling a face as he looked down at the ground. “They need warning signs or something for that stuff. Ew.” He began scraping his shoe against the sidewalk.
Dorcas couldn’t help but not hide the smile in response to his reaction. “Would you like to come inside and wash it off in there?” The brunette gesured to her shop. “It’s also freezing out here.”

Dorcas Meadowes | Nineteen | Order of the Phoenix | Pureblood | Closed
Growing up, Dorcas was a happy, content, and sheltered child. She had big doe eyes and a dreamy disposition. Books were always a part of her life, staring with the picture books that she could understand as a toddler.
Her mother would read to her whenever possible, encouraging her love of learning.
She wasn’t raised as a snobby Pureblood, but was instead encouraged to enjoy and view the world around her with open eyes. Dorcas seemed to view things with more rose-colored glasses than open eyes, however.
Once at Hogwarts, she was happily sorted into Ravenclaw. Her time was majority spent in the common room, using it as her giant personal library. Her kind nature was well known throughout the castle, earning her some typical friends and some unusual friends.
For most of school, she kept on those rose colored glasses and had very little street smarts. It was easy to take advantage of her, with her willingness to help without too many questions.
Unfortunately, quickly after the start of her seventh year, Dorcas’s mother was in Hogsmeade when it was attacked. Like so many others, Dorcas’s mother did not make it out alive. It was one of the first attacks that ended in the deaths of “blood traitors."
Slowly, but surely, the rose-colored glasses have been falling off.Thankfully, though, it has not left her tough and cruel. Instead, it has strengthened her compassion and, although she misses her mother, she has used it to help her see those hurting - even when they don’t wish to admit it.
While playing mother, advocate, friend, and psychologist to many of the students in school, she graduated with a push toward research. Her love of learning and reading of fantasies led her to begin a bookstore in Hogsmeade that allows you to trade a book for a book. She’s excellent with children, and always seems to have four or five running about.
Due to her willingness to help, her intelligence, and her connection to the cause, Dumbledore approached her and requested her attendance in the Order of the Phoenix.
The Order completely ripped off those glasses all at once, but Dorcas knows it is for the best. She’s the person people go to when they need a reminder that there is an end to all bad things. She’s full of inspirational quotes and isn’t afraid to be cheesy to get a smile out of someone in these dark times.
Although she isn’t out fighting on the field, those plans are her ideas. She’s logical and she wants to keep everyone safe. Rescue missions are her specialty at planning. She also helps in cleanup. Orphan in need of placing? She’s on it. Relocating a family? She can get them out of the country no problem. Can she save herself?
