The Elements are the forces of Nature and life, and are incorporated into ritual and magick. Every aspect of existence is bound up in Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. And the fifth element which is Spirit (or also deemed Aether), which is present in each of the other four. Each of the four classical Elements is associated with one of the four cardinal directions; North, East, South, and West.
There are also energetic associations, that add great depth to interpretations of how people with different zodiac signs interact with each other, for each sign is associated with an Element, and each Element is different.

The Wheel Of The Year
A Quick Introduction to the 8 Pagan Holidays, or Sabbats, of the Year
Dates may Vary due to year, and multiple sources I have found have different dates
Yule (December 20-23): The winter equinox and when days become shorter. People begin to make preparations for the cold months and decorate trees with many cold weather foods to symbolize the continument of life in winter.
Imbolc (Febuary 2nd): “The promise of Spring” this is a time typically when sheep would begin to lactate, meaning they were pregnant. A time of celebration for the coming spring and crops and animals would be blessed. The goddess Bridgid would be honored as she symolizes fertility.
Ostara (March 19-22): The spring equinox and a celebration of the beginning of spring! Some easter traditions come from Ostara.
Beltane (May 1st): The festival of Fire and Mayday, the halfway between spring an summer, the weather is getting warmer for most! A time to be greatful for the gifts of Spring and many celebrate on Beltane Eve with big bonfires and on my first with flower crowns and may poles. Beltane is considered by many to be a holiday where the veil between worlds is very thin.
Litha (June 19-23): The summer solstice! Days are long enough for work and play and many announce engagements during this time and many continue for a full Harvest.
Lughnasadh(August 1st): Symolizing the first harvest and the midway point between summer and autumn. When many get married and celebrate this time with breads and fruits made available by the harvest. A time for gratitude.
Mabon (September 21-24): The autumn Equinox and the holiday we are enjoying right now! A celebration of the harvest and preparations for the winter soon to come. Celebrates abundance and the good reaped from labor.
Samhain (Oct 31- Nov 1): ITS HALLOWEEN! Annnd the witches new year. One of the most important holidays where the veil between worlds is thin. A time to honor loved ones, friends, familiars, and pets who have passed on. A very powerful time where one may focus on guidance, clearance of negative energy, and the beginning of a positive new year.
These are short and simple explanations and I hope I didn’t get anything wrong! Feel free to add info or correct me on any points.
Happy Witching!
Magickal Ideas for Samhain
Carve a pumpkin and empower it to repel negativity or to protect the home
Build a shrine to your ancestors
Add divination to your ritual
Drink apple cider warmed and spiced with cinnamon to honor the dead
Research your family history and write a tribute to them to include in your ritual
Set a place at the dinner table for the recently deceased
Place small carved pumpkins at the four quarters
Visit cemetery and place flowers on the graves of your loved ones
Make a spirit candle.(White candle anointed with patchouli oil. Say:”with this candle and by its light, I welcome you spirits this Samhain night.” Place it inside jack o’lantern. This may be included in Ritual, or done separately.)
Make resolutions and burn in a candle flame. This is not the same as ridding yourself of bad habits, but is more like New Years resolutions, as for many Samhain is the New Year.
All the main holidays for ya witchy soul~ each have different goals and activities. Celebrating these holidays can give you an extra kick in all sorts of different spellwork ✨ which is your favorite? (Mines Samhain cause it’s the one holiday where I feel most comfortable being myself)
Reminders for witches
•You don't have to practice all of the time!! Everyone needs breaks from everything!!
•male witches are completely valid!!
•lgbtq+ witches are completely valid!!
•You don't need to be good at every single subject!! Whether it be astrology, divination, kitchen magick, everyone has something they like best and not everyone is great at all of the subjects!!
•don't stress yourself out over anything witchy!! Do what you need to do to stay peaceful and calm and stress free!!
•You don't need a coven to be considered a witch!! Solitary witches are valid, too!!
•reblog and add on if you have something positive to say!!

❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
Also known as Solstice Night, or the longest night of the year, the sun’s “rebirth” was celebrated with much joy. On this night, our ancestors celebrated the rebirth of the Oak King, the Sun King, the Giver of Life that warmed the frozen Earth. From this day forward, the days would become longer.
Symbols of Yule:
Yule log, or small Yule log with 3 candles, evergreen boughs or wreaths, holly, mistletoe hung in doorways, gold pillar candles, baskets of clove studded fruit, a simmering pot of wassail, poinsettias, christmas cactus.
Herbs of Yule:
Bayberry, blessed thistle, evergreen, frankincense holly, laurel, mistletoe, oak, pine, sage, yellow cedar.
Foods of Yule:
Cookies and caraway cakes soaked in cider, fruits, nuts, pork dishes, turkey, eggnog, ginger tea, spiced cider, wassail, or lamb’s wool (ale, sugar, nutmeg, roasted apples).
Incense of Yule:
Pine, cedar, bayberry, cinnamon.
Colors of Yule:
Red, green, gold, white, silver, yellow, orange.
Stones of Yule:
Rubies, bloodstones, garnets, emeralds, diamonds.
Activities of Yule:
Caroling, burning the Yule log, decorating the Yule tree, exchanging of presents, kissing under the mistletoe
Best spells during Yule:
Peace, harmony, love, and increased happiness.

Tips for the Dark Half of the Year
Winter is coming quickly. A lot of people see this time of year as bleak, depressing, or just boring. Here are some tips to stay attuned to nature during these months.
❄️ Go outside. Even if it’s cold, the trees are bare, and the only colors are muted and dull. We often think that summer is the only time to enjoy the outdoors—the only time to hike, meditate outside, etc. In winter, there are no lush green trees or balmy days filled with sunshine and the smell of flowers. While summer is intoxicating, winter is a time to contemplate and reflect. Go outside. Feel the cold. Feel the mud and the dead grass and the chilly wind. Listen to how quiet it is. Understand that the dark half of the year is a time of silence, stillness, and death. It’s natural to have an aversion to these things, but take some time to sit down and just listen. Breathe. Feel the reality of silence and death around you. It’s a sobering experience, but also a very insightful one. If you have any fear of death or quiet, now is the time to go sit with those things as they appear in nature and just meditate with them.
❄️ Eat cozy foods. It’s cold outside—warm up with hearty soups, stews, homemade bread, and root veggies. Warm spices and hot drinks will keep you feeling grounded. This is a wonderful time of year to practice kitchen witchcraft—focus on coziness, family, protection, and rest.
❄️ Study magic! The Dark Half of the year is devoted to self-reflection, rest, and contemplation. Snuggle up indoors with a fluffy blanket and devote some time to studying magic and witchcraft with a hot cup of magically-brewed tea.
❄️ Think spirits are sleeping along with all the greenery? Think again! The Dark Half of the year, in many cultures and spiritual traditions, is considered extremely spiritually active. Deities like Odin, Berchta, Hekate, and spirits such as elves and ghosts are very active this time of year. You can choose to honor them if you want, or practice various spirit-working techniques. If you’re into necromancy or divination, this is a wonderful time of year for those things.
❄️ Be kind to local wildlife by installing things like bird feeders outside your home. We modern humans may have an easy time of it in winter, but animals struggle to survive during these months. Any bit of kindness will be much appreciated.
❄️ Nurture your fire energy. During winter, it’s easy to internalize the cold and take on its characteristics—sluggishness, sleepiness, a foggy-headed feeling. Some crystals that are great for winter include golden rutilated quartz (aka Venus hair), citrine, carnelian, obsidian, and garnet. All of these crystals contain a strong fire element as well as offer grounding qualities, mental clarity, and protection.
❄️ Go out and forage for magical ingredients! Melted snow is extremely purifying and can be incorporated into spells for purification and cleansing. Icicles can serve as temporary wands, especially in spells that require a strong water element. The ash from bonfires (or hearth fires) can be used to make black salt. Fallen branches can be crafted into wands. There may be nothing growing this time of year, but you can get creative and still find magical ingredients in unexpected places. Just be respectful and don’t collect from places where it’s illegal!
This is by no means a comprehensive list—these are just some ways I’ve celebrated the colder months. I hope they’re helpful in any way!
