genevieve-skyes:
Ice cream was always a good idea, rain or shine. These words Genevieve lived and breathed. Her feet happily walked over to the stand sheâd spotted from the farthest corner of her sight. Her only problem: she really didnât know what flavor to pick. She supposed if she could narrow it down to a couple flavors, then two scoops wouldnât have been the worst thing in the world. Having been lost with the overwhelming choices, it took a moment for the maleâs words to register. âDo you see him anywhere?â her voice carried the smallest trace of worry, and Genevieve had glanced around with him, as if she knew what the boy looked like. Still, the mother in her just worried too much in general.Â
Beau was willing himself not to panic - not only was Northpoint probably the safest place in the planet, but Danny was a very smart child, and he didn't do things like wander off. Still, Beau was playing back the past few minutes, thinking, I'd only looked away for a second, the time it took to place an order. He gave the woman an approximation of a smile, too distracted to try too hard at it. "Uh, would you mind?" he asked, lifting the two cones towards her. They were hardly an inconvience, he just couldn't bear to be standing there holding ice cream at a time like this and ------ "Just for a second? I'll do a quick lap of the square, and -" So casually it was almost hilarious, Daniel came around the corner of the stand, holding Beau's phone aloft. "Daniel," Beau said, less scolding and more a reminder. "Please don't wander, okay? I nearly gave away your ice cream. I still might." He smiled at the woman. "Do you like mint chocolate chip?"
