Grammar, itâs importantÂ
as some of you have seen unfold on here, my book - âTHE ART OF ASKINGâ - is officially DONE. inspired by my TED talk and also sort of a memoir, iâve been doing almost nothing else since januaryâŠbut after months of intense writing, editing, and reading aloud for the audiobook, it soon finds its way to you and iâll embark on a little signing tour in support of it. i canât wait for you to hopefully read (or listen).
itâs aboutâŠeverything.
and itâs COMING OUT on NOVEMBER 11th (in hardcover, e-reader, and audiobook formats).
and HERE IS THE COVER. i think itâs beautiful.
if you wanna know how i ended up naked and getting my body painted by a bunch of LA artists (with allan amato shooting the whole thing), i wrote a blog about the MAKING OF the cover. itâs HERE on my site.
p.s. as mentioned, i will be doing a HUGE BOOK-SIGNING TOUR in the states this fall. iâll announce dates alongside pre-order info for SIGNED copies, SOON via THE GOLDEN, HOLY MAILING LIST and my blog. if you donât want to hold out for a written-on-by-me copy, pre-order info is up now at amandapalmer.net. more soon. LOVE.
Happy birthday, Harry Potter! To celebrate Harry Potterâs 34th birthday, I made my own book covers for the whole series. I was inspired by the vintage Penguin Scores collection Jan Tschichold designed. I created patterns using a significant object from each book. I used those in the movies as reference and digitally painted all seven. You can view the whole project here! :)
(Itâs already July 31 here in the Philippines. Haha.)
BOOK OF THE DAY:Â
A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing by Eimear McBride
It took Eimear McBride almost a decade to find a publisher for her novel, A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing, one of the best reads of 2014. Its intrigue lies in its style of writing; nothing about this book reflects a cookie-cutter, predictable read or style, which is why it took her nine years to publish her novel. It follows the relationship between a girl and her brother, who suffers from brain damage. Both siblings, plagued by his brain tumor, unfoldt a world full of powerful and distressing moments.
McBrideâs true genius lies in her style of writing; it is perplexing, shocking and holds an erratic train of thought. Every crevice of her mind is unraveled. Her thoughts are anything but neatly packaged, it is raw.Â
Do you hear me? Is it ever time for you to understand. I meant I meant that for I never thought you could think you were low. Were lost at the moment when they cut you off. Cut your head out heart brain. It is not I know was not that but to me it was to me. Like I could have seen you in the bright of day. Like the light could have come up from the sea and take you over. Me over. Is there. Forgive that. Forgive that me that I was fallen down. That I was under the weather under the same sky and did not. Not yet. If I took. If I had taken your good right hand I might have pulled you. Up. Pulled the black sea out of us. Saw you. Left you. Is there some truth in that? I went out to the cold. Thought Iâd know what to do. Bring you with me. Bring you with. Sad and sad and sad fool me slipping down. Slope hill mountainside.
This is an experimental novel, there are no conventionalities here. Get ready to scratch your head and reread McBrideâs prose. A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing is worth reading a first, second and a third time to fully digest it. It is rough. This novel is not for everybody, it is a story full of emotion; no life lessons or educational value will be obtained from it. It is purely to feed the mind and brain with a multitude of reactions.Â

The Reader by rosiehardy
My Friend Jeff (The Jeff Goldblum Painting Song) A weekly sketch by Cheeky Moon. Music by Matt Cornah (Cobley).
Several years ago, three friends and I pooled our money to purchase the original oil painting of Ian Malcolm: From Chaos.  This loving tribute to Jeff Goldblum was painted by John Larriva for âThe JP Showâ, brandonbird's people-only Jurassic Park themed exhibition, and has since gone on to modest internet fame.
The original now lives in Australia, where itâs routinely exchanged between owners (often in a public place) in a tradition affectionately known as #TheGoldblumTransfer.
The number of owners has since expanded to five through marriage and will soon reach six through the miracle of childbirth. Â There is talk among the soon-to-be parents of taking it into the maternity ward.
All in all, purchasing a lavish oil painting of Jeff Goldblum is a life decision we can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.
More Info You can follow the further adventures of The Goldblum via this tumblr, via fellow owner rivaldojo, or simply by searching for #TheGoldblumTransfer on your social network of choice.  It also makes regular cameos on our weekly comedy channel, Cheeky Moon Productions.
If you, too, would like a little Goldblum in your life, please support the artist and purchase a high-res print.
