“Rape is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused.”
Freda Adler
“Domestic violence causes far more pain than the visible marks of bruises and scars. It is devastating to be abused by someone that you love and think loves you in return. It is estimated that approximately 3 million incidents of domestic violence are reported each year in the United States.”
Dianne Feinstein
this is ridiculous
I have to believe it will be okay or I'll go crazy.
I think the hardest part of trauma is the fact that no one really knows how to treat it
there simply isn't a fixed medication or treatment. There is not formula to help abuse victims recover. Domestic abuse and trauma victims just exist. Every story is different, so every treatment is different. For every similarity there is a difference, and for every difference there is a complication. There simply is no straightforward way to go about recovery.
It will get better
You'll learn to love your skin. You'll stop hurting yourself. You'll eat, and you won't make yourself throw it up. It gets better. You'll look in the mirror one day and realize you've stopped hating yourself. It won't all happen at once. But I promise.IT WILL GET BETTER
until it does, I'm here to talk to my loves. <3
For all my friends who have been bullied
You are beautiful.
Despite the scars. Despite the broken bones. You are gorgeous. You are strong. You are empowered. Everything you have gone through up to this point has made you stronger. Those scars aren’t ugly, they are symbols of all that you have overcome. You are stronger than the past. You are better than those who hurt you. You are not a victim. You are survivor.
how come I don’t feel like this?
You have to look at yourself differently (: if you ever need encouragement I'm here (:
I know how hard this is. But trust me.
I want you to find 5 things you love about yourself. I want you to stand (naked if need be) in front of a mirror and find 5 things. Your nails? Hair? Eyes? Bellybutton? Legs? Find 5 things.. now say why you love them. Be brave. Overcome that self-loathing. Overcome that self-doubt.
Here. Me first
My collarbones - I love how they draw attention to my (small) chest. I love the delicate bones and the angle.
My eyes - I have plain Jane, Brown eyes. I love the saying "the eyes are the window into ones soul". My eyes might be a plain color, but you can read my soul, my story, my past.
My stomach - it's not perfect. But I love how my hips are shaped. I love my ribs. I love my bellybutton. I love the color. I'm proud of my belly (:
My hair - It's shiny and it's (now) a dark auburn. I love it. My mom doesn't. My older sister doesn't. But I do (:
My Lips - Maybe it's poetic justice. But I love my lips for their ability to speak, to show love (KISSES AHHHH!) and to help with singing.
