Hey all!! Iv MOVED this blog from tumblr to: beautybyshanny.blogspot.ca So follow me and check me out on blogspot to keep up to date with my beauty posts!!!
Today’s look is a warm brown and glittery green look with blue eye liner on the waterline!
Today’s my day off with nothing to do, so I went with my “go to” look!!
If anyone wants a look breakdown of this, let me know and i’ll write it up!!
This is my eye brow routine!!
Like I say in the video, I have naturally super thick, dark, brows. (Thanks to my background :P) So I just fill in my brows, to re-colour them. Because when I buff on my foundation/concealer they get kinda covered!!
But I hope you find this helpful!!!
This is the video tutorial I filmed for yesterday’s glittery dark moody smokey eye I did!!
Its a bit long, because I really wanted to explain/show how I blend out black eye shadow, because that’s one of my biggest questions asked, is about black eye shadow LOL.
Please reblog/watch if you want!!
October Faves and Shits!!
First fave: My 32oz reusable water bottle! As y’all know, I had four root canals done two days ago, so i’m been LIVING for water!! And this has come in big help!!
Second fave: Sephora Brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation. This is a sheer powder, that’s VERY yellow toned, and it sets my foundation/concealer and it keeps me matte for a few hours!! I just wish It wasn’t $25!!
Third/Fourth Faves: ELF tone correcting primer, and MUFE Mattifying primer. This is my new favourite primer combo!! I use the green ELF primer on my cheeks, and then the MUFE mattifying one on center of my face!! These help me stay matte, and use less foundation!!
Fifth fave: MUFE Excessive lash. THIS IS MY NEW HOLY GRAIL MASCARA. Holy SHIT yall!! I got this for free from sephora, and i’m usually a 3 coat mascara kind of gal. But with this mascara I can go with ONE coat and it’ll be so dramatic and clumpy. Just how I like it!!
Sixth fave: Jack Black LE lip balm in Black Cherry. I ADORE Jack Black Lip balm. So when I saw this Limited Edition Black cherry “flavour” I HAD to get it. It’s so yummy, and makes my lips so soft and plump and ready for my matte lipsticks!!
Seventh fave: Annabelle brow to go. I obviously love this!! I hit pan on the darkest shade. It keeps my brows looking bomb!!
Eight/Ninth faves: Colourpop Paisley, and Sephora brand Swan Song. These are two new eye shadows to my collection this month. And they are VERY different. Swan Song is a matte light pink I use to set my eye primer/brighten my eye lids. And the Colourpop eye shadow, is a pressed sheer glitter cream eye shadow!! I love it in the inner corners!!
SHITS:
This YSL mascara, it has a horrible wand, and it did NOTHING to my lashes. you couldn’t even SEE my lashes with this on!! Not worth it for ME.
Revlon Colorstay is a half shit. I love the formula, coverage, and texture. But this shade is PINK. like PINK. If I wear this, it’s like I have a pink ass face with a yellow neck!!!
LUSH coloursuppliment in Light Yellow. 1. This isn’t yellow enough for me. 2. Its way too light so I have to mix with dark yellow. 3. Its like a lotion. Its way too heavy for my oily skin. 4. It sinks into my pores despite me wearing a pore filling primer!!
Neutragena Dry touch sunblock used to be my HOLY GRAIL sunblock. I thought it was perfect for my acne prone oily skin!! But then I tried the Clear Face sunblock. it dries matte and feel velevety. Where this sun block is more thick and white and creamy!!
That’s it for my Faves and Shits for October!!
What was your faves for October?
This is the look I filmed the tutorial on today!!same with the brows!! I'll be posting these videos over the next lil while!! :-)
My most used/favourite eye shadows!!
I’m a warm brown/green/red/gold kind of eye shadow person!!
Top to bottom we have:
Sephora brand Swan song Sephora brand hidden treasure coastal scents Balsam Coastal Scents Medieval gold Coastal Scents elven gold Makeup Forever D-562 Makeup Forever S-102 Colourpop Nillionaire Colourpop Paradox Coastal Scents Barista MAC Humid MAC Embark
My favourite brands for eye shadow are: makeup forever, colourpop, and Coastal Scents!!! For me, for a pallet to be completely ALL I ONE. I need a matte cream/white/light pink, a matte warm medium brown, a shimmery light white/gold, a deep dark matte brown. That’s what I NEED. I would prefer if my pallet also has a nice shimmery green, a golden brown shimmer, and a reddish shade. All three of the extras for the lid!! If you want reviews on any of these shades/more in depth commentary, let me know!!!
Editing and writing posts tonight, friends!!!
I filmed two videos today!!! I'll be editing them tonight!!
I am testing Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Foundation today!!
I have: Super oily (My inner cheeks, my Chin, My Forehead, And the tip of my nose is the worst for oil), acne prone, NC25, Yellow undertoned skin!!
I bought the shade #40 which was said to be for “Medium Light skin tones with Yellow undertones” as of me typing this up, I have had this on for two and a half hours. And it has not oxidized DARKER. But it’s definitely more ORANGE-Y than when I first applied it!!
It sets to a nice matte finish, with no extra dew/glow. And it offered medium coverage!!
First Picture: Just the foundation, freshly applied. You can see my purpley under eyes still, and you can see my freckles on my cheeks!! But my skin is evened out, and there’s no real redness coming through!!
Second picture: I have applied Kat Von Dee Lock it Concealer Creme in Light 3 Warm. (I’ll be doing a review like thing of the KVD concealer as well soon! But obviously the concealer is a bit too light/brightening for my usual tastes!!) Under my eyes!! I used NO concealer on my cheeks, as I didn’t feel I needed it!!
Third picture: I then took my powder brush, and I patted my Sephora brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in the shade 18 Golden Linen all over my face to set!! This is a matte powder. It’s called a powder foundation, but it offers very light light coverage so I don’t feel worried about applying it overtop of my foundation!!
Fourth picture: This is the finished look I did today. But this is the foundation with Blush (Clinique Cola Pop!) and Highlight (Sephora brand eye shadow in Movie Popcorn) I only applied highlight to my cheek bones/apples. But you can see a bit of a natural (NOT oily!!!) glow between my brows, and a bit on the tip of my nose!
This post will be updated tonight before I wash off the foundation with my thoughts on oil control, shade, and texture!!
It is currently 11:30 PM. And I have had this foundation on for 10 hours. I usually keep my makeup on until 1am, but i’m just so sleepy ahah.
My thoughts:
It DEFINITELY oxidizes!! When I squeeze out a bit, it’s a lightish yellow colour, but it darkens to a medium-ish orangey colour!! It comes out too light for my skin, so it does still work for me, but i’d recommend swatching in store before buying, and then walking around and letting it dry/set THEN buying!!!
I’m 100% shiney/oily. But It’s SLIGHTLY better than usual. My forehead and nose is the worst, my inner cheeks and chin look dewy, but not oily if that makes sense? (Also as a thing to keep in mind!! I do NOT touch up my foundation throughout the day! I’ll SOMETIMES blot in the summer months. But I never re powder unless i’m at a fancy show for work and even then, it’s rare!)
Despite being shiny, it does NOT feel heavy, or cakey. Like it feels like i’m wearing nothing on my skin right now!!
I’ll continue to wear this foundation and keep you all updated!!! :-)

My newest tutorial is up on youtube!! I used mostly MAC shadows for this look, with one Coastal Scents shadow!!
I did a nice warm brown, and gold smokey-ish eye!!
I hope you enjoy and maybe reblog :-)
Acne update!!!
I haven’t changed anything in my routine since the last update. BUT iv been using this routine for …. ¾ months now!! And I’m SO incredibly happy with how clear, and even, and healthy my skin is!!!
As someone who went from having severe cystic acne, to having strangers compliment their skin, it’s AMAZING.
I’ll be posting a updated winter/fall skin care routine soon as that has been requested!!!
I need your help!!
I have a gift card that iv been saving for sephora. Because I really want a new foundation??? I have: oily, acne prone, NC25 skin. I always try my absolute best to match my foundation to my neck and chest. And my neck and chest are YELLOW. like. Banana yellow. My colouring isn't super Fair, but I'm no where near deep skinned. I like to say I'm light medium. I'm on a topical acne medication, so my skin is clear of all black heads and acne. I have freckles and scars on my face I like to cover. I own three foundations, and one "BB cream". 1st one. Is Estee Lauder Double Wear. It's in the shade 3n1. But it's soooo rose toned? Like it says it's neutral. (I went through a experimenting phase where I was using "neutral" foundations, because that's what a MUA told me i was. THEY WERE WRONG) but it's not. AND it's my summer shade, and while I don't get a lot more brown in the summer (I wear SPF 60 every day no matter the season) it's still TOO dark for my winter skin. 2nd one. Is Revlon Colourstay in 220. It's the PERFECT colour. Like it blends right into my skin, and is a great dupe for Double wear. BUT. it's PINK. like, iv had my family ask why my face is so pink compared to my neck and chest PINK. so I can't wear that one, and don't know why I still have it?? 3rd one. Is L'Oréal pro matte in 104 Golden beige I think it's called? And this one, after I blend it into my skin, it sets to a powdery finish. So that's good!! BUT it doesn't last long on my oily ass face. So I dunno what's up with that. Also, I'm wearing it today. And I feel like it's a TOUCH too orange. Like when I spread it onto my cheeks. It's Yellow. But sets to a orange shade???? 4th one, is the BB cream. it's the Garnier oily skin BB cream in light/medium. First off. I have beef with them because THERE'S NO DEEP SHADES??? Here, in my walmart, I buy the deepest shade??? And I'm like light/medium. SO. But it's so good? Like. It's super sheer compared to the other foundations, but it's SO yellow. And it evens out my skin just enough to hide redness. And when set with a powder and with a primer under it lasts really well for me!! The foundation I'm looking at/have in my sephora shopping cart, is the Makeup Forever Pro-matte foundation in the shade 40 natural beige. It's described as "for medium light skin with yellow undertones." Which is exactly what I am!! Also it's a matte foundation, which is what I need!! But before I hit purchase. I wanted to ask YOU!! If you have a similar skin type to me (oily, acne prone, yellow) what's your favourite foundation and why!?
This is my first look with Colourpop’s fall collection!!
I bought: Seeker, Paisley, Paradox eye shadows, and Sookie and Dropout lipglosses. In this look i’m wearing ONLY colourpop eye shadows, and Dropout lipgloss!!
Face: Green tinted primer on my cheeks, mattifying primer in my T zone, Garnier oily skin bb cream (I put it on the back of my hand and then dotted it onto my face and used my fingers to blend it out) then HardCandy Glamoflauge, and I took the SMALLEST amount of it, warmed it up between my fingers, and patted it under my eyes, and took my concealer brush and patted/blended it into my under eye area! I then took Sephora brand powder foundation, and I patted that all over my face to set and lock in my foundation! I decided to do a bronzed/contoured look. So I took an angled blush brush, and I ran a matte brown bronzer-esk shade along my cheeks to make my cheek bones pop! I buffed a bit of the matte brown bronzer into my temples. And then took then matching highlight from the bronzer and I ran that along my cheek bones/around my eye brows, my cupids bow, and my nose!! I like to highlight my nose, to bring more attention to it. That’s just me though.
Brows: The usual. I took my annabelle brows to go kit, and brushed that through my brows to darken them and fill them in. Then took a tinted brow gel from Essence and brushed that through my brows!
Lips: I did two coats of Colourpop Dropout lipgloss, but after I took these photos I blotted it down so it’s a light stain now.
Eyes: I primed my eyes with smashbox 24 hour eye primer, then set it with a light matte eye shadow from Sephora brand. I took my fluffy blending brush, and I TAPPED it into Colourpop Seeker, because Seeker is VERY intense and pigmented. Then lightly buffed it through my crease and onto my hood. It’s a very warm almost orangey matte brown eye shadow. Then I took a clean finger, and I patted Colourpop Paradox, onto my mobile lid, and blended out any harsh edges between the lid and crease. Paradox is a warm warm matte vibrant red! I patted my finger into Colourpop Paisley, which is a sheer glittery top coat eye shadow, and I patted that onto my mobile lid and inner corners. And while I liked the look of that, I took some more Paradox and I patted that ontop of the glitter to bring back the attention to the red!! I then did a light coat of mascara on my upper lashes, then applied some “Dramatic” falsies, Buffed Seeker under my lower lashline, then applied a few coats of mascara to my lower lashes. Then took Avon always on point eye liner and I lined my Upper and lower waterlines, so my eyes didn’t look bloodshot/red.
I have FINALLY found a face combo that is working for my super Oily/Acne prone, NC25 skin!
I am Medium, Light skinned, With VERY prominent yellow undertones. And most foundations, and concealers for my NC25 skintone, are very, very, PINK. Which makes my whole face look pink, while my neck is YELLOW. So this is the foundation routine i’v found to work best for my Super Oily Yellow ass skin!!.
I start my makeup off with using a light moisturizer and letting that sink in. Then I put on my SPF 60 Sunblock, and my sunblock has a matte finish/dry down. So I know when it’s “Set” on my skin! I then take my ELF Tone Correcting green primer, and I do a 1/2 pump, and pat that onto the apples of my cheeks/my cheeks where I have the MOST redness, then I squeeze out a dime sized amount of the Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer, and I Pat that onto my forehead, Nose/sides of my nose, and chin. This dries down almost instantly, and has a very matte powdery-ish finish!
For “foundation” that is either/or, I’ll take a dime sized amount of the Garnier Oily skin BB cream in Light/Medium (It’s very yellow toned for my fellow yellow toned light/medium skinned oily ppl!!) and I’ll do one “dot”/”swipe” on each cheek, a tiny dot on my forehead, a TINY amount on my nose and chin! Then I’ll most likely use my hands, and blend that out. Or i’ll take a buffing brush. OR. I’ll take Maybelline Fit me Concealer in 20 Sand Sable, which is STRAIGHT UP YELLOW. And use that like a foundation! I’ll do a swipe on each cheek, a dab on each side of my nose, and a swipe on my forehead. Then I’ll take the buffing brush and just blend that out!!
For Powder, i’v found a recent love. I’v been using translucent powders for about two years?? Because all powders were too pink for me. WELL, enter the Sephora Brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation, in the shade 18 Golden Linen. This is a very much so yellow toned powder! I’ll take my dense powder brush, and I’ll PAT the powder under my eyes first to set it before it creases. Then I’ll PAT it all over my face to set and lock in my foundation!!
For my Under eyes, I take a SMALL dot of Hard Candy Glamoflauge in Medium Light, which is too light for me right now, so it gives a brightening effect under my eyes, but it’s VERY yellow toned as well! And i’ll take the super small amount, warm it up between my two pointer fingers, and then pat it under my eyes! It’s MAXIUM coverage. It hides my dark insomnia under eyes completely!!
I wanted to try something new today with my eye makeup!! I wanted a dark outer corner, with a light shimmery inner corner. Almost like a gradient of light to dark on my eye lids. I thought this would be very difficult for myself. But it was really all in the blending/balancing skills to be honest!!
BASE: MUFE mattifying primer on the forehead, nose, and chin to prime/mattify. and then I patted ELF green colour correcting primer onto my cheeks. I then let that sink it/set and then patted a small amount of Garnier Oily skin BB cream all over/focusing it on my cheeks to hide the redness/fading acne scars. I then took Maybelline Fit me concealer and dotted that under my eyes and blended. I then set my whole face, with Sephora brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation and really patted that into the skin. I then did a mix of the ELF St. Lucia duo (the shimmery bronzer) and then mixed in a bit of Clinique Cheek pop in Plum Pop! I then highlighted with MAC Nylon eye shadow.
Brows: I did the usual! Annabelle brows to go kit in deep dark. I took the darkest shade and did small strokes through my brows, then took my spoolie and brushed through the brows, then I took Essence tinted brow gel and ran that through my brows!
Lips: I patted a bit of “Diorouge” matte lipstick in 772 classic matte onto my lips and then blended outward!
Eyes: This is a DOOZEY. I used Too Face shadow insurance from lashline to brow bone. then I took a matte peachy eye shadow lighter than my skin tone and set the primer. I then took Coastal scents Barista (Matte warm brown!) and fluffed that through my upper crease. Then took MAC Mulch (Medium shimmery coppery brown??) And patted that onto my outer half of my lid, almost into my crease. I then took MAC Embark (Matte dark dark reddish warm brown?) And patted that ontop of Mulch, on the outer corners. And I brushed a bit RIGHT into my crease to deepen and darken things! I took my fluffy blending brush and blended everything out so there was no harsh line and so the look will look hazy and blended! I then took MAC Woodwinked (Golden brown shimmer) And patted that onto my inner mobile lid. I took my fluffy brush and blended lightly where Woodwinked and Embark meet in the middle of the lid so there wasnt a harsh line, buffed a bit of Embark on my lower lashline to darken it up and balance the look out. I then patted MAC Nylon onto my brow bones, and inner corners to highlight. Two coats of mascara are next on my upper and lower lashes. Then I took my Physicians formual liquid eye liner and did a small wing on my upper lashline. Second to last, I took Avon Always on Point black eye liner and lined my upper and lower waterlines. LASTLY. I took my darkest, deepest matte black eye liner. And patted that onto my waterlines ontop of the Avon Liner to set and make it last all day!
Thank you for reading!! I hope this helps!
