Riding Tango went really well today, heās beginning to use his hind quarters to push himself forward rather than traveling on his forehand, so heās balancing a lot better and isntās pulling on my hands as much, using half halts and leg on is really helping to keep him traveling forward and at a steady pace while maintains his balance especially going around corners so he isnāt rushing around in trot anymore, using my seat to keep him at a steady pace is working wonders too, as even if he tries to rush and get faster if I keep the speed of my rise the same and use half halts, he is really good at matching it. This is miles better than a few weeks ago where as soon as I asked for trot he would hollow his back and put all his weight onto his forehand, basically pulling me out the saddle at times. We still have issues with mainting contact as he has gotten into the habit of putting his tongue over the bit, so weāre working on finding a fix for that. Thinking about making the cheek pieces a little tighter so the bit sits higher up in his mouth taking pressures off his tongue, hopefully this will fix it so we donāt have to use a flash. Had a minor spook, where he took off (completely my fault, got my foot caught on the arena fencing and fell forward š¤¦š¼āāļø) but as soon as I sat up straight, and asked him to return to trot, he did. Tipping forward always makes him take off, itās his āgo buttonā, so I need to work on keeping my body upright and in the correct position. Overall it was a really good ride, and I can see a definite improvement in how he carries himself, even though weāve still got a lot to work to do, we are getting better.
