How do you feel about the fact that Liz and Avan have said that jade and beck are married and have a child together ( I think a baby girl ) post series?

i’m  pretty  sure  you’re  a  mind  reader,  ‘cause  i  was  literally  thinking  about  this  earlier.  listen,  i’m  gonna  be  honest  .  .  .  i’m  that  bitch  &  i  love  it.  not  just  for  ‘  otp  reasons  ’  or  whatever,  but  because  of  what  it  means  for  them  as  characters  &  as  a  couple.  

getting  married,  having  a  kid  —  that  asks  for  a  lot  of  growth  as  a  person.  it  would  require  work,  and  would  mean  that  they  were  both  in  the  space  relationship-wise  to  get  married  &  have  a  kid  (  because  we  know  neither  of  those  things  fix  a  relationship,  &  as  insecure  as  jade  can  be  i  highly  doubt  she’d  be  that  person  ).  getting  married  would  require  jade  to  have  outgrown  her  insecurity  regarding  beck  &  other  girls  (  the  idea  he’ll  leave  for  someone  else  ?  ),  &  would  also  require  beck  to  be  active  in  his  discouragement  of  other  people’s  flirtation,  something  he  tends  to  kind  of  avoid  in  the  series.

they  both  have  to  grow  up  &  outgrown  these  childish  /  teenaged  fears  &  accept  that  they  balance  each  other  out  well.  no  one  else  can  handle  jade  like  beck  can  (  liz  has  mentioned  this  many  times  ),  &  jade  keeps  beck  on  his  toes  -  something  he’s  canonically  mentioned  he  likes.  neither  of  them  want  an  easy  relationship,  but  there’s  a  difference  between  easy-boring  &  easy-loving.  a  relationship  doesn’t  have  to  be  toxic  or  abusive  to  be  ‘  interesting  ’,  &  though  their  relationship  is  played  like  that  for  laughs  a  lot  in  the  show  (  with  jade  oft  being  the  aggressor  ),  i  think  it’s  important  that  they  both  realise  their  flaws  &  bad  traits,  &  that  they  work  on  them  in  order  to  have  a  future  together.

i  think  this  growth  for  them  is  particularly  evident  in  the  fact  liz  &  avan  have  indeed  stated  there  would  be  bade  babies  (  liz  said  twins  !  ),  as  that  actively  requires  jade  to  have  mellowed  out  when  it  comes  to  ‘  sharing  ’  beck  -  i  can’t  think  of  a  better  term  than  that,  &  it’s  just  something  she’s  had  issues  with  in  the  show’s  run  -,  &  the  two  of  them  to  have  really  worked  out  their  issues  (  sure,  there  may  be  the  occasional  text-fight,  but  the  constant  bickering  from  days  of  yore  is  long  gone,  surely  ).

we  know  canonically  beck’s  parents  don’t  really  like  jade,  but  that  she  still  goes  to  his  house  for  thanksgiving  &  new  year’s,  &  i  like  to  think  that  post-series  they  really  warm  to  her  —  especially  as  she’s  going  to  be  the  mother  of  their  grandchildren.  they  still  visit  the  olivers  for  thanksgiving  &  new  year’s.

also i have issues with all the people (mostly girls) who hit on beck (see: scream at him) even when they know he has a girlfriend — and that girlfriend’s jade. tori and trina are particularly complicit (bori is a thing in and of itself, but trina needs to Chill when it comes to beck), but it’s played for laughs. robbie hitting on beck is also evident, and beck gets weird about it every time (bc like ... that’s legit his second-best friend so Yeah it’s weird). i’m p sure the only people who haven’t hit on beck is andré (and cat never hits on him in the way other people do; she just does it bc she’s cat). idk if any of this makes sense but like ... it would be exhausting and kind of horrifying to constantly have people scream at you to love them. yeah he wants to be an actor so this is the kind of life he’ll be living - but it’s different when you go to school with those people and they won’t take your disinterest seriously

ugly mobile post but anyway beck and i have to Talk about how his reaction (or lack thereof) to girls constantly flirting with him (y’all remember that paramedic asking if he was in college yet? NASTY.) and how that affects jade and directly relates to her insecurity re: their relationship. it correlates with her not wanting him to hang out with girls (‘you can hang out with ugly girls’) and is the basis of their many, many arguments. he is not blameless in this part of their relationship, and the fact that he’s completely in love with jade doesn’t mean she can’t feel insecure when he’s constantly being harassed by other girls - something he doesn’t really seem to actively dissuade even though he has a girlfriend and this clearly upsets her.

cute couple things i’ve seen on campus this semester that make me want a stupid boyfriend

girl and guy were sitting on the same chair with the guy behind her only he was hugging her waist and fast asleep on her shoulder while she was working on her computer

saw this couple across the street from me waiting for the bus. the guy did the thing where he pretends to look for something in his bag and pulls out a finger heart instead

in the hallway i watched this girl run up to her bf and he gives her the biggest hug and goes “see told you you’d kill your presentation” then kisses her forehead

girl sitting next to me in the library has been grinding on an assignment all day (like i’d have been in the library from 10-3 with breaks in between for classes but she’d been sitting there the whole time) and her boyfriend would come in every few hours, put down food or coffee on her table, kiss the top of her head, and walk away without a word

in one of my smaller classes (probably around 30 people) this guy’s phone rang and he sprung up and left the class to answer it. usually profs don’t care if you leave class but this one is really small and he knows all of our names/faces, so when the guy comes back in the prof asks if everything was ok. he has the biggest grin on his face and says “yeah, sorry that was my girlfriend. her flight took off right before it started snowing so i was worried. she’s okay tho.”

was sitting outside and reading when it was warmer and i could see this couple sitting under a tree a little ways away from me. the girl was laying in his lap while he was on his phone. suddenly i heard an alarm go off so i look up and they start switching places so now he’s laying his head on her lap and she’s reading sitting up. it happened twice more after that
