Day One - Soulmate Tattoos - sorry, but I haven’t been able to upload these until now aa, hope this suffices!
Luisa thrummed her fingers against the arm of her chair in the middle of a waiting room. Each finger hit the rough surface just as the previous one lifted ever so slightly. Yet, there seemed to be a falter as her ring finger hit the arm. She seemed to falter at it. Ocean blue eyes glared at the finger. It was tainted, it was stained. Poisoned. Against the fair skin, a black band accented with swirls and curves blared at the world. A one of a kind pattern. A mark. A claim to someone she had never met and to someone she most likely had no desire to meet. Everyone had them – it was how they found their ‘special someone’ if you must. But why would this be a surprise? The world was a sadistic place after all. A small scowl crawled across the normally dormant mask Luisa wore, her eyes flashing with anger. Before Pieter, her companion – sidekick – friend, could question the expression, the tall blonde stood jerkily, withdrawing her hand and clenching her fingers close to the palm.
“Luisa, Luisa Meyer?” A young woman with soft features – yet strong red-hair curling around her face stepped around the corner, clipboard drawn close to her face as she read the name.
“Ja.” Luisa mumbled, walking forward, feeling Pieter behind her in a heartbeat. The red-haired girl faltered for a moment, quite shocked to see a pair of 6” Germans glaring down at her with such authority that they could be royalty.
“Meeting with Beca Mitchell?” She swallowed with a weak smile, her blue eyes flicking back down the clipboard almost breaking in her hard grip. Luisa nodded once, reverting her attention to Pieter with a curious ‘what-the-hell?’ face. Pieter shrugged his large, reasonably solid shoulders and gestured for the blonde to follow. Luisa turned back around and caught up to the retreating red-head with a few strides, her eyes flickering across the hall as she went. The walls were a deep creamy-brow – adorned with records and awards of sorts. Throughout the entire walk – photocopiers, clocks ticking and heavy handed keyboard users could be heard. Luisa almost frowned. She was never one for much noise in a place. A sharp turn and a few doors down, the ginger, who Luisa had been informed was called Chloe, turned on her heels and shot them a smile. With a feeble hand, Chloe tapped on the door before blinking at the wall in silence.
“Beca?” Chloe called, tapping once more.
“Whu? Oh, oh, ye- yes – come in?” A voice called in from the office, it sounded weak and heavy – almost sleep deprived. Luisa shot Chloe a furrowed eyebrow glance and the young girl shrugged also, seeming utterly exasperated. She opened the door, allowing Luisa to get a quick glance at the tattoo on her ring finger. No luck.
“Scheiße.” Luisa breathed. Pieter clapped her on the back softly, knowing what she was looking for. Chloe, however, had not heard the exchanged and pushed open the door.
“Your, um, 3:30 meeting? Luisa Meyer and Pieter Kramer?” Chloe prompted, her eyes flashing across to the two Germans now eyeing the wall of record prizes.
“God damn it why-,” Beca inhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of her nose in defeat. With a swift movement, she sent all of the papers on her desk scattering into her trashcan before dropping it back to the floor. With a tense jaw and heavy eyes, Beca leaned forward – interlocking her hands on the table in front of her. “So, Luisa and Pieter – I hear you’re interested in a partnership?”
Luisa turned on her heels and glanced at the woman sitting at the desk. She was pale, much too pale to be considered really healthy – but not too much for it to be considered sickly. Her mousey brown hair was mussed and tangled from constant fixing and perhaps, from fingers brushing through in frustration. Her green eyes were dull, the bags under them deep blue. Her shoulders were slumped and it looked as though she might pass out from sleep deprivation right on that table top.
“We are,” Pieter spoke up after a moment’s hesitation of his counterpart. To anyone else in the room, it only looked as though Luisa was staring down at the young woman – almost as though as was figuring out a million ways to gut her. But Pieter knew better. He knew Luisa was stumped. “We have been interested in quite a while.” He continued, sitting down on one of the small chairs far to petite for his stature. Luisa was in the one next to him at a moment’s notice, her ocean blue eyes still trained on the tired woman.
“Ah, glad I kicked everyone’s asses out of the way before they snatched you up, eh?” Beca noted, shuffling a few files until she found a pen and a pad of paper that looked a few years old.
“You kicked the ass? I doubt it, Tiny Maus.” Luisa spoke up, her voice deep and predatory as a smug smirk crawled across her sharp featured. Beca hesitated for a moment, the head of the pen drifting across the page – but never quite coming into contact with the lined sheet.
“Pet names already, hm?” The brunette shot back, her hand re-adjusting the pen with a small scowl.
“Don’t break the pen – little one.” Luisa teased softly, her eyes flicking down to how the pen creaked under the pressure of Beca’s grip. A small tongue darted out between cracked lips and Beca shot Luisa a glare.
“So what can you,” Beca gestured to the two Germans, “from DSM, bring to our company?”
“Records, fame, money.” Pieter explained, beating Luisa to the point before she continued teasing the young woman in front of them. God damn they needed this company. If Luisa was going to ruin it with her messed up strategy of flirting – he may as well butter them up enough for the future DSM. Luisa watched as Beca wrote down a few things, her eyes scattering across the brown locks that fell perfectly across a delicate neck.
“It must be hard, in a large business – while being so small.” Luisa commented, half referencing the company that was quite unheard of, while also referring to the height of it’s boss. Beca tensed for a moment.
“Shut your god-damned perfect mouth.” A sudden tumble words escaped the brunette, making her sit straighter in her chair. Pieter shot Luisa a surprised, almost astonished face, while the blonde leant back in her chair with a predatory grin.
“What was that, Tiny Maus?”
“You bloody know what I said, German Goddess.” Beca huffed in anger and embarrassment before standing up and pushing back her chair. “Thank you for coming, I need to reschedule today’s meeting.” The woman opened the door, looking utterly drained and almost as if she were going to cry. Pieter shot Luisa an accusing frown before standing up also, tucking his own file under his armpit.
“Thank you for meeting with us, please contact us again soon as possible.” Pieter grinned sympathetically, holding out his hand. Beca took it and shook it firmly. Luisa’s heart leapt into her throat and her body flooded with confusion and surprise. She looked closer at Beca’s ring finger, tracing the patterns she’d spent hours tracing on herself. Luisa swallowed and shot Pieter a glance before stepping forward herself.
“Nice meeting you, Maus.” The blonde grinned slightly, pushing out her own hand once Pieter had begun heading down the hall – obviously pissed at her actions. Beca furrowed her eyebrows, cheeks heating up slightly.
“Likewise.” The brunette replied, clasping Luisa’s hand. “Wh-your hands are so soft.” Beca breathed out with sudden shock, withdrawing her hand soon after as if she had been burnt. Luisa laughed and nodded softly.
“Call us soon, ja?”
“Oh shit.” Beca suddenly grabbing her pen and pad once more. She stepped forward and pushed it forward. Luisa smirked and cocked her eyebrow slightly. “I don’t have your contact number – and since you’re the co-leader – it would be a good idea.” Beca explained quickly, her cheeks reddening.
“U-huh.” The dismissive tone made Beca bristle, but in a good way. How could someone even bristle in a good way? Luisa wrote down the number and went to hand the paper back – only to see Beca gaping like a fish at her finger.
“Snap?” Luisa laughed and held up her ring finger with a playful smile. Beca stood rigid for a moment, her heart hammering in her chest. God damn, she hoped Luisa wasn’t always an asshole. The brunette held up her own finger and shook her head. “Snap.” She replied with an almost disbelieving tone.
Luisa laughed lightly, making Beca’s blood run cold for a moment. “I will expecting that cool soon then, ja?”
“Ja, oh hell ja.”
