The team grew bigger and we decided to change our URL to start fresh. You can now follow us on bedfordstreetblog.tumblr.com. Also, the blog is only in French now, as it took us way too much time to translate it all plus we also launched a youtube channel and it'd be impossible to us to speak english naturally in these videos. A Great Big World - Is there anybody out there ?
I know it's been a while since our last post and I'm really sorry about that. Between college and all of our activities, it's been hard to find time to write an article. But we're back and we have a lot of cool things to share with you. Tonight's post is about A Great Big World. You probably heard about them, about their duet with Christina Aguilera, but did you listen to their entire record ?
The first time I heard about Ian Axel I was still in high school. I fell in love with his voice and the originality of his songs. I remember listening to This is the new year and Afterglow for hours without getting bored ! But after a few years and no record in sight, I figured that he had stopped composing and I moved on. So what was my surprise after so many years when I found out on internet that Chad and him became a band and that an album was on its way. (YEAAAAH !!)
After a hole week with only "Is there anybody out there" on my smartphone, I had to tell you how AMAZING it is ! This year has been the toughest since I've start college and I've been really low lately : missing my friends, my family ... Well this album just fulled my heart with joy, and It felt good. Listening to Cheer up! every morning gives me the strength I need to get through the day. Not to mention Rockstar, You'll be okay, There's an answer ... This album is pure genius and I really encourage you to discover these two incredible artists. xx Laura

I also watched Frozen. I think the story is amazing, and I'm glad Disney is finally doing movies according more to reality like: - Family is always there for you - The "prince" is not always as good as it seems and in fact, you don't have to look for a prince. - Someone of the opposite sex is not necessary the only person that can love you And all the normal lessons like fight for what you believe, love is stronger than anything else and all that stuff. Basically I loved the movie.
You're completely right! I also love how Elsa is considered as the main villain and bad queen and bad sister who doesn't take care of her little sister when she's actually frightened by a wonderful power she can't contain. It's just like if you're doing something nobody understand, then it's bad. But it's not!
The film illustrates perfectly the main problems of nowadays, i.e. seeking love at any price and not being open minded enough to accept people with all their flaws and quirks. Let's admit it, all the main characters could totally be tumblr users considering their weirdness!
Frozen
I have been waiting for this for a year and here I was, two weeks ago, at the cinema with a whole bunch of stars in the eyes. I finally got to see Frozen.
By the way, when the trailer came out some of my friends told me about it saying that it made them think about me. Minou even suspected the creators of Tangled to have made it especially for me. Seriously, I mean: snow, blue, a reindeer, Idina Menzel and even a brief apprearance of Rapunzel at the beginning! OHMYGOD!
Apart from its absolutely fabulous OST I just can't stop singing, I found the characters extremely interesting. I'm afraid I'm not gonna develop this so much because I don't want to spoile those who haven't seen it yet, but we're far from the Manicheism we've been used to in Disney movies.
According to me, these characters have really been studied and have all a strong background and personnality which makes them engaging as it's easier to identify oneself with them. And of course the whole movie is as beautiful as the incredible Tangled from which I will never get over.
These last years Disney really worked on making their stories special and different from the original ones. Of course purists won't appreciate it, but there is a real work of development. For instance, we can remember Tangled - yeah, again, - but also The Princess and the Frog.
If you haven't seen it yet I can only recomand you to hurry before it's to late because it's more than worth it. Otherwise you'll have to wait for the DVD and it's gonna take too long!

Vodkaster
If you follow us on twitter or on our facebook page you probably already heard about Erwin-Fli (Fli cause' he's so fli that we had to add it to his name). Well I'm telling you about him because tonight's article is about his favourite website : Vodkaster.
Vodkaster is a website for all the Cinema lovers. It's a platform where you can rewatch an incredible amount of famous scenes. But what I love the most about it is that you can mark every movie you've seen even the less known. With all the marks you gave, Vodkaster make a list of your favourite movies/ directors and calculates your likely affinity with other users. You can also post small critics (140 prints max) that people can like or comment. There are plenty of things to do, to read, to discover on it so be curious and take a look at it ! What the Cut
I've been hesitating to talk about this for quite a while now as we're used to talking about adorable and fli stuff and this French Youtube channel isn't the cutest you could find. Actually, I'd like to talk about the podcaster more than the podcast itself. (And it's the occasion to celebrate his million subscribers. CONGRATS!)

Lately I've spent so much time chilling out on youtube watching podcasts. That's how I found this podcast about one year ago.
As many French people, I was used to watch podcasters like Cyprien, Norman and Hugo tout seul, but to be honest I was a bit tired of this kind of thing. You know, you've watched one video and it's like you've watched them all because it's always following the same template: complaining about everyday little things in an "IKEA flat" with a fisheye...
The first thing I noticed in Antoine's videos was that he wasn't using any of those. Instead, he was in his messy bedroom using a simple camera. Nothing very showy then and that's precisely why I chose to watch one of his videos. Of course, since then, he invested in new equipment and all.
To be honest, at first, I was expecting a kind of lookalike of the podcasts I was talking about a bit earlier, so my evil laugh and my desperate sigh were ready but OHMYGOD! I endend up lauging my ass off.
What the Cut is inspired from the american podcast Equals Three and makes fun of surprising videos you can find on Youtube. What I find the most interesting here is how Antoine works. Contrary to many others, he doesn't expect to do the buzz but mainly does all this because he actually enjoy doing it. He doesn't stuck himself in a template that worked once but try to find something new to make it better and have fun? That actually the most important thing in life according to me: having fun doing what you're doing!
Also, he often says that he's enjoying the freedom Youtoube's giving to podcaster and wouldn't accept to change this to go on tv because it would force him to do things he wouldn't necessarily enjoy and prevent him to do more interesting stuff. He's right! Why would you leave a platform which offers you almost all the possibilities for something with loads of obligations. Some would say "for money, of course!". But money isn't everything, really.
Finally, he makes a difference with the proximity he has with his subscribers. Every months he's posting a video to answer questions and talk about his projects. Well, it seems a bit pointless but it's actually the kind of detail that makes people inspiring. I mean, look at John et Hank Green, look at Misha Collins, look at twitter for god's sake!
I can't wait to see what's gonna be next with Mr. Antoine Daniel.

Boulet - part 1
The new tome of Boulet's Notes is out so I'm gonna take advantage of it to finally talk about my very favourite comic writer.
Gilles Roussel - best know as the amazing Boulet or just Boulet if you prefer - is a french comic writer who has been a great part of my childhood. Some of the pages of his comic Raghnarok were published in a comic magazine for kids, so that's how I discovered him in the first place. As I didn't have any good comic store close to my home it was difficult to find the books so I just spent loads of time reading the same pages our of the magazines over and over again because I really enjoyed the story.
Since then, online shops appeared so I've finally been able to order most of his comics even though I don't have the last ones yet. Pardon me Gilles, I still love you though.
Boulet is know pretty well known thanks to his blog Bouletcorp in which he tells stories about his everyday life. As his an awesome story teller he tends to exagerate these stories A LOT and that's actually what makes them hillarious. He often talks about his blog as if it is a sort of laboratory where he can make some experiences and see how his audience reacts. That's why you can find a completely different style of strip from one day to another; but in general they're all brilliant.
His proper style is pretty easy to recognise and you can guess that he had some japanese and franco-belgian influences. He generally use watercolor to paint his pictures and I'm always really impressedwhen I see him drawing live without even having to sketch anything. Just go and enjoy his Youtube channel.
I will talk a bit more about his books later because otherwise this post would never end. Till then you can go pend hours reading his blog.

What We Do - "Tous en Scène"
If you're following us on FB you've probably seen that we mentionned an event three weeks ago; a theatrical event to be precise. Well let's tell you a little bit more about it.
8 months ago I joined, with one of my dearest friends, a french association that offers cultural activities such as cooking, painting, singing etc ... to people of all ages, disable or not. Intemporelle (The association) really wanted to create a theatrical program and as art students we though that it would be a great idea. We asked some of our classmates to help us out and we used short plays we wrote at the Uni.
We prepared 4 short plays and Angel created the sets and a beautiful poster to promote the event. The actors were from different generations (From 10 to 60 years old) and most of them were amateurs.
I happened to write one of the plays. I always loved writting (I even wrote a book when I was a kid, a terrible one but still). I named it A victim of oblivion's monologue, I wrote it like a poem or a song with rhymes and a special rhythm. I chose to talk about my worst fear : to forget all my memories. A woman tries to recall her husband their precious souvenirs as he's suffering from Alzheimer's. It's a really personnal play, I put a lot of myself in the female character and I've been really touched to see people getting emotional during the representation. It's really quick and it's only my own way of drawing. It's not the only one, it's certainly not the best one but it's the one that works the best to me. I hope it can help you too. It took me lots of time and practice to do stuff like this quite quickly and easily so don't worry if you don't succeed immediately. Try to follow simply the different steps without overthinking. Since the Nokia 3310 everybody take the choice of their phone case really seriously. With the Apple revolution it became an obsession. Indeed some people think it's a way to introduce yourself, tell a little bit more about you without saying a word. Your favorite band, color, movie, TV Show, animal ...
As I experienced it myself, I know how hard it is to find the perfect phone case. That's why I've decided to do that article, to give you some cool online shops with really cheap but awesome cases.

100 Deeds
It's been a little while since we talked about art, right? Well, let's talk about webcomics for once then. SO, of course there are loaaads of webcomics, but it's not always easy to find one we really like. That's one I wanted to share with you one that caught my attention.
Do you remember Griffsnuff? I talked about her in one of our previous reviews. I actually discovered tthe story thanks to her.
It's called 100 Deeds. In a nutshell, it's about Irving, a cheeky leopard who lost his spots in a fall. He's got to balance his karma by being nice to other animals to have his spots back.
It's very funny and the story of the webcomic itself is quite interesting. Irving has been created by Alex Dorwart an American artist who wanted to be part of a webcomic without having to actually draw it. So she wrote Irving's story and then asked some artist friends such as Griffsnuff, Colonel Strawberry, Tyronniesaur and lately Shadow Wolf to help her out by drawing one chapter each. So, obviously, every chapter have different styles but all of them are absolutely awesome.
There are currently 4 chapters so don't wait any longer and go read it on the website or on the deviantART.

How It Should Have Ended
Have you ever wanted to change the end of your favorite book or movie because you were disappointed and you wished it had ended differently? Well that's what HISHE does, alternate movies' endings in form of 2-3 minutes animated parodies. Daniel Baxter and Tommy Watson, the creators, started in 2005 with How Matrix should have ended and continued with other major movies such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Pulp Fiction, Toy Story 3 ... More than 100 videos are now available on their website.
I just love their videos. They're all so funny and the cartoons are so good ! I wanted to tell you my favorite but I don't have one, seriously they're all great. Pokemon X & Y
I'm gonna be quick, this is the game I've been waiting for since I got my first Pokemon game.
I could write a great book about my adventure in the Pokemon world starting by the day watched the very first episode on TV. Pixar could even make an awesome movie about it! But I don't want to spoile the one of you who don't know the story about the day my brothers beat the league instead of me or when a stupid asshole stole my entire card deck, leaving me alone with the Eevee card I forgot at home.
ANYWAYS! You sure remember every single name of the first 151 pokemons, but could you at least name about 100 of the 500 others? Were'nt you pissed off of having to deal with a copy of Pidgey or Rattata everytime you started a new game ? Well, these days are over 'cause the first generation is finally back kids!!
I'm not gonna talk about the gameplay but let you have a look at MunchingOrange's channel who made me go nuts while I was trying to find a store that still had the game in stock.
Instead, I'd like to mention some details I particularly appreciated like OMYGAWD OUR CHARACTER CAN FINALLY BE CUSTOMIZED! Also the TMs can be used more than once. Your Pokemon can now win xp when you try to catch another one, you don't necessarily need to beat it. And the more you take care of your team, the more your Pokemons have fun reactions, which makes the game truer to the anime than the previous versions.
Finally, you've got to admit that the game is gorgeous. By the way, to make it look so pretty, the new region has been inspired by France. You can then find allusions to Paris, Brittany and some other great places.
Let's stop the speech there and recommand you to actually play. Don't hesitate to share your friend code you guys :D

Teen's got talent - Part 2
As you seemed to like the first article, I thought I'd continue to talk about young artists that have been discovered thanks to internet or television. Tonight is about Taylor Henderson.
Australia - Taylor Henderson
Taylor is a contestant of the fith season of X Factor Australia. He's 20 and from Geelong, Australia. He sings and writes his own songs and used to work in his family farm. Prior entering the show, he was on Australia's got talent with his father Cameron, he finished in third place. He auditioned with a cover of Some Nights by FUN. Usually, Angel and I are not convinced by covers of that special song, too similar but not as good as the original. Well for the first time, it was something really unique and totally different from the one we heard so many times on the radio. So it was a great first impression and it continued with his cover of Human Nature by Michael Jackson.
There are just 3 weeks left before the show ends and I really hope Taylor is going to win because he has something different from the others, something that make me think he'll be big someday. He reminds me a lot of Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and some other singer/musician. So give him your support, who knows someday he might be the one we hear on the radio ;)

Pushing Daisies († 10.03.07 - 06.13.09)
Since it came to France, Pushing Daisies has always been one of my very favourite shows; one of those I could watch over and over again. I've been so dissapointed when I heard that ABC had cancelled the 3rd season and I still cry over my Piemaker at night sometimes :(
For those who didn't get the chance to meet him, my Piemaker's name is Ned (Lee Pace) and since he was a kid he's got the power to make dead people come back to life but... well, forget it, I'm not gonna do this but let the narrator tell you instead, he's way better than me for the job, 'cause that's his job like for real, you know... nevermind. There it is! But the thing is that my Piemaker is deeply in love with Chuck (Anna Friel), his first love he brought back to life, and he can't touch her 'cause otherwise she would, ya know, die. My most favourite scene of all history of television actually comes from that:
With this show, Bryan Fuller created something quirky and colourful that could remind you of Tim Burton, even though it's so much more adorable, not to mention James Dooley's awesomesauce OST.
Then, Mr Fuller didn't forget about his baby and always tried to find a way to continue the story. He thought about comic books, a film, and recently mentioned the idea of making a musical. Yeah, 'cause I didn't talk about one of the most exceptional second character yet. Well, Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth) is actually played by a great Brodway star. You should check her incredible cover of Hopelessly Devoted to You #OMG
I could talk about this show for hours, but I think it would be better for you to go watch it so we could talk about it together. Till then we'd like to thank you a lot for your support and send you giant hugs :)

Smash († 02.06.12 - 05.26.13)
Tonight is about our precious TV Shows that ended too soon. Last May Smash has been cancelled after two seasons. To me, it was a shame because the show was really good.
Smash follows Julia Houston (Debra Messing) and Tom Levitt (Christian Borle), a famous Broadway writing team, in their attempt to create a new musical about Marilyn Monroe's career. Interested in the project, Eileen Rand (Anjelica Huston), a producer, helps them to find a director, Derek Wills (Jack Davenport), and to cast the future star of the show now entitled Bomshell. Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) are fighting for the part.
What's really interesting in Smash is the fact that for the first time we discover the inside Boadway: how a show comes to life, the problems the creators have to face; but also all the original songs wrote for the musical by the amazing Marc Shaiman (Hairspray). I have to say that I loved the second season even more and I was really sad to see such a great TV show ending. So If you have time and if you're looking for a new TV serial to watch, why not Smash ? ☂☂ Laura
