happy ten year anniversary, archvillain-fandom!

holy fucking shit, it's been ten years. in the time since i started this blog, I have:

gotten a bachelor's

gotten a dog

written and published a novella

gotten a second bachelor's and a master's

had my heart broken

started work on a book

gotten over the person that broke my heart

written and published an article about archvillain

started a job i hated

quit the job i hated and started a career that i like

remembered that i had a book to write and started writing regularly while balancing work

never stopped caring about this series

fourteen year old me would be super proud of me, and super thrilled at the state of this blog. never stop loving the things that make you happy, no matter what other people think of them. here's to another ten years!

can’t take this blog seriously sometimes. you look at the original books and they’re like, “look at this kid who’s an accidental supervillain! he means well but he gets in his own way! here he is with his bunny!” and then i’m over here posting shit like, “kyle camden picks up smoking in college to deal with stress and is unable to kick the habit before he dies.” just complete tonal dissonance. what am i doing.

mairi- total inversion of kyle’s arc, puts everyone else first before making a final horrible choice to protect herself, goes in the polar opposite direction and ends up at the same place. cosmically kyle’s soulmate, tethered to her place in the universe. they’re both trying to resist the roles they’ve been cast in, and they’re both successful in the worst way

mike- where kyle is driven by love, he’s driven by hate, even if he’s acting as a force for good. he and kyle have the same stuff running through their veins, they both made the other what they are (in more ways then one), they are tied together with stardust and hatred

jack- he’s who kyle would be if he was completely confident in who he is. he’s the ideal supervillain, and yet he’ll never be as powerful as kyle. they’re always going to be at odds. jack betrays kyle, kyle breaks jack. kyle betrays jack, jack kills kyle. but they can’t help but care about each other. kyle saves jack from lundergaard. jack lies to protect a dying kyle. they doom and save each other, both never fully being able to let go of their emotions to embrace evil
