Maybe it's just me but I don't think the adults' dynamic is such a stretch, talking specifically about their relationship to Shauna.
Nat was not civil to her at any point except while they were cutting up Adam's corpse because she knew, intimately, that no matter how psychotic Shauna is that part sucks. Otherwise there was clearly animosity there that is finally explained in my eyes.
Van carries so much guilt over the cards and Mari and who knows probably one or two more hunts before they get rescued, she probably didn't think she deserved to be on any kind of high horse so she would be civil. They were never really friends but she would be civil when they meet again.
Tai wanted to stay as much as Shauna. So anything Shauna does afterward, Tai sees herself as complicit. And she thinks Shauna's behavior is like her split personality, something the wilderness brought on. So post rescue she would be Shauna's bridesmaid, why would she refuse. And then she builds a life away from everyone including even Van, and over the years she forgets. And when the blackmail starts again she would just be friends with Shauna, they all did fucked up things after all and why would she play the Fuck up Olympics.
Misty just smiled when Nat called her a psycho, because she knows that's called for all things considered, but she takes it very personally when Shauna calls her a psycho. Because Misty knows Shauna is way more psychotic than she is and she doesn't see where Shauna gets the nerve to judge her. And now it makes sense why she would think that. But Misty would be civil to her because Misty is civil to everyone, especially to someone who could be a threat to her, keep your enemies close and all that.
Lottie is Lottie tbh, other than her death I don't have anything to criticise about adult Lottie or the way she behaves towards any of the Yellowjackets.
And Melissa faked her death, like I first thought it was a bit dramatic but after the s3 finale and the failed coup and knowing Shauna perhaps more than any of the others, she would be terrified at the idea of Shauna getting bored of her family life and deciding to go back to her ways. Again it makes sense.
Travis literally changed his name. He only ever stayed in contact with Nat and even she didn't know where or who he was for quite a while by the time he dies. After all the empathy and care he held for Shauna, he literally bled if it meant it could keep her alive he was grateful for her friendship with Javi, he thought he had no claim to grief in comparison to her, and post rescue she never heard for him again not once. After the s3 finale and her comments about Javi and her leading them into another hunt and her making them stay, it makes sense that he would do everything to get away from all of them.
Like I hope we get enough scenes post rescue to see the seeds of the adults' dynamic but I really don't think it's such a stretch that half of them went off the grid while the other half just stayed cordial or even friendly. Like yes Shauna did some fucked up things but let's not pretend like she's the only source of every evil in their life. I mean I love Tai, but Shauna being the reason Nat died? Come on girl, I support your coup because two queens fighting is gonna be hella entertaining to me as a lover of women but let's not pretend Shauna is the only fucked up one in that group.
