Here's a new/old video!  Revisited this from years ago, pared it down to just the good stuff and re-cut it to some new music. This was a few studios ago and my materials have changed quite a bit since then.

I moved away from tube watercolours to mostly pan, which I prefer for how fast I can mix up and tweak colours on the fly. Also never have to fiddle with those little twist caps!

When I started on Cuphead, I did a whole bunch of paper tests to figure out what paper I'd be using for the whole project. Arches hot press     emerged the clear winner for my style of painting - amazing colour payoff, water absorbency and tough enough to handle layers and layers of washes. I now have a giant roll of it, so I can cut custom sizes, too.

And a really big change since this video - I built a PC! I was able to tailor the parts and peripherals to exactly what I needed - working with giant Photoshop files, some video editing, and a fair bit of gaming.

It's a work in progress, constantly making small and big improvements to my work flow. Calibrating my materials has drastically changed my speed and results, but much of the process is still the same. Thanks for watching!

For the past while I’ve been working on watercolour backgrounds for Cuphead, a Run 'n' Gun action game drawn in the style of 1930's cartoons.  It’s an amazing project to be a part of - everything is hand-drawn and inked, along with original jazz recordings and some seriously magical gameplay.  Super excited to finally be able to share this!
