RJ Rockers Son of a Peach
The third member in our three-beer wheat-ale band is this peachy S.O.B. Stay tuned for the rumble in the wheaty jungle for our next post. Pitting (absolutely not sorry) the three amigos against each other.
RJ Rockers Son of a Peach - American Wheat Ale
Purchased from Half Time Beverage
Tell me about it:
American Wheat Ale, ABV 5.8%, ~$3.00 a bottle
“This unfiltered American wheat ale made with real Carolina peaches has a real attitude problem. Call him “sweet” and he flips his lid. Most would take offense if he wasn’t so darn tasty. Go ahead, savor the anger.”
Liz says:
A signature cloudy wheat ale, even after the chill has worn off. It smells like peaches and possibly oranges. A very citrus-y fruity smell. The head is just a bubbly taste of the beer itself. It’s sweet. With a syrupy consistency. That sweetness just sticks on your tongue. It don’t quit. It smells a little like the shitty peach flavored oatmeal I ate as a child. But that doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t come off as artificial as that. While it’s still cold the carbonation cuts the sweetness a little and adds a little bitterness. It reminds me of the tartness of the skin of a just ripe peach. As it warms up it becomes even more syrupy and more floral. Like if I ate a flower, right now. I think it would taste a little like this. I recommend drinking it with fruity desserts. This would blow my mind with a good fresh fruit cobbler and some vanilla ice cream. Would definitely be two sweet after one or two. Not a session beer, but fun. Good summer beer. Recommend trying to keep it cold while drinking. Not bad after it looses the chill, but I preferred it right out of the fridge.
Who Would Like This Beer: If you’re not normally into beer, but maybe you’ve had some of these hard soda beers, like the “Not Your Dad’s Root Beer” or the Coney Island Hard Root Beer and like that, I’d give this a try. Maybe people who like those real fruity white wines should give it a try.

Matt says:
This beer was just peachy. That is to say, “Yep, it tastes like peaches.” I’m not a big fan of peaches in general though, so I’m bringing some bias into this one. It was a bad childhood experience... don’t ask. Regardless, I found it surprisingly sweet even for a fruit flavored beer. I liked the carbonation level. The bubbles felt numerous, but small, and reminded me of a champagne, the way it prickles your tongue but doesn’t get up in your nose or stick around on your tongue too long. The flavor also had an oddly floral smell and aftertaste, in addition to the obvious peach flavors and smells.
Overall, I don’t like peaches, so I’m not a huge fan. As a fun one off this is certainly one to try when you’re in a summer mood, but I’ll probably never drink it again.
Who Would Like This Beer: If you like your beer sweet, fruity, and drinkable you’ll like this. If you like sweet champagne, but aren’t big on beer, you’ll like this.
