goretober day one: worms

more dye samples! this one was dyed in cutch and used the scrunch resist (ie where you wad the fabric up into a chaotic ball, secure it with rubber bands, and toss it in the dye pot)

another dye sample, this one was dyed in cochineal using an arashi fishbone wrap for the resist, then dyed a second time in walnut using another arashi wrap going the opposite direction

dye samples from my fibers class i took in fall 2021, both pieces were dyed in indigo, first one was using a clay resist, second one used a pebble bound resist

sketches and notes for a project on chronic pain

this project has involved a ton of research and introspection as i’ve learned more about my own relationship with pain. starting it has been super difficult though because focusing on your pain can make the pain worse, and considering i was already having a flare up trying to focus on the pain was not the move. still despite the uncomfortable increase in pain this process has helped me better understand my own pain and has been invaluable. (i’ll add the pictures of the finished product later) this piece works in tandem with a paper i wrote on pain education and it’s relationship/uses with children, as well as a lesson plan for bringing pain education into the art classroom (if you’re interested in seeing those just lemme know and i can drop the links)

time lapse and final piece for this gel medium transfer! this piece was for my art for social change class i took over the summer, the overlay of human veins on top of mycelium shows that we aren’t so different from nature, humans need to start thinking of themselves as part of nature rather than as above nature (gel medium transfer onto wood, summer 2021)

pt 1 of bowls i threw this past semester, these were some of the first things i threw on a wheel and glazed super happy with how most of them came out! (i made hella bowls so this is only like half of them more to come)
