I also made pins! I've posted about them before, here and here. The Sam pin says “Try Dissociating” and it’s based off a pin I have and also the line Paulie says about Sam being able to block it all out. The Paulie pin says “Partial to Paulie, 2020” and it’s based off the 1952-1953 presidential campaign pins that Eisenhower made saying “I Like Ike”. It’s a ref to the tweet that the Mafia Twitter made in 2020 asking who’d you like to have more as your buddy. Obviously I’d pick Paulie. The colors and little lighting bolts are pulled straight off the Hangar13 logo!!!

Glaze transformation!

Go from underglaze on the bisque fired pieces to shiny shiny. They have a lovely resonance to them too as a bonus.

I'm so excited to make more bee style pots!

I'm glad I tried so many different iterations on the pinching decoration. I think I'm most excited about the deepest, most craggy contours. my eyes see them and I go YES YES YES.

when I made the first shallow dish (largest one, on the right) I was hooting and hollering out loud and punching the air and cheering. I think I like the contrast between the smooth shallow interior form and the wildly irregular exterior? and the amount of shadow it produces?

this style would fuck even harder if I can refine my overall forms a little more - in terms of height vs width and the side curvature

most of these are going to be candle vessels for sale at my friend's top surgery fundraiser market / future markets TBD

markets have been my goal for a while not as a Hustle so much as a way to socialize about art and give my pots homes! but I didn't want to force it; wanted to have a practice I felt excited about repeating and sharing; I think I'm on the right track here :)

I made these! Over a year ago, I put my name on a wait list for a class at a local pottery studio. In early December I got notified that they had a spot in their next session so I jumped on it. So for the next 12 weeks I get to go play with clay 😁

I took a couple of classes in college and I loved it. I always said my dream home would have a pottery wheel and a kiln. Well, that's a pretty big investment. So I'll take a few more classes to see if it's still something I want to keep doing, and if I still have the bug I will see about getting more studio time somewhere.

These little guys are called "pinch pots". It's a hand building technique where you take a small ball of clay and literally pinch it into shape. Wheel throwing will happen further into the semester, which is cool, but I had so much fun getting my hands dirty and making these 🥰

Art is good for the soul!
