Good news on how to keep the mites especially from attaching to our honeybees!!! I have loved essential Oils, but had no idea till now, this season, starting in the spring—a fellow beekeeper came over and sprayed our hives and then we bought his formula which is using mineral oil and essential oils which you can find on YouTube just ask your phone and you can read up on it from articles and we will start making our own formula. Some use lemon grass essential oil some use Teatree oil I think I like tree tea(melaleuca) better! How are use our chickens but now we have where you can fog the hives with this mineral oil plus essential oils weekly without harming the bee!!!
You can purchase a log cabin or regular beehive, that’s decorative & makes a great Christmas gift!!!
HELLO EVERYONE FROM TUMBLR!!! THE PICTURES FROM ABOVE ARE OF MY HUSBAND, KEVIN—THE BEEKEEPER IN OUR BACKYARD BEEHIVES!!! KEVIN IS THE ONE WHO THOUGHT OF COAXING HIS CHICKENS TO EAT THE MITES, BEETLES, AND MOTHS AROUND THE BEEHIVES, BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT IS KILLING OUR BEES AROUND THE WORLD!!! IN 2006, AFTER THE FIRST SEASON OF DOING THIS MUCH DEEP THOUGHT PROVOKING TRIAL, WE FOUND OUT "THE CHICKENS WORK”!!! WE FOUND ONLY ONE MITE IN 50 HIVES!!! WE ARE JUMPING UP AND DOWN, YOU CAN KEEP HEALTHY BEES BY DOING NATURAL WAYS. NO ANTIBIOTICS FOR BEES!!! A VERY WIN-WIN SITUATION. WE GET THE BEAUTIFUL CREAMY & TASTY FRESH PASTURED BROWN EGGS TOO!!! WE HAVE BEEN BEEKEEPERS SINCE 2006. THIS PAST WINTERS have been VERY COLD AND SNOWY, COSTING US A GREAT OF LOSS TO OUR BEEYARD. THERE IS A EVEN A GREATER SHORTAGE OF HONEY THIS YEAR! I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED WE ARE NOT TO HAVE THE SUPPLY OF HONEY LIKE WE HAD EVEN LAST YEAR BECAUSE WE ENJOY OUR CUSTOMERS, WHO RAVE ABOUT THE HONEY THAT COMES FROM OUR FARMLAND OF MAINLY TREE FLOWERS & THEIR NECTAR FOR MAKING THE BEST TASTING HONEY, BUT WE ARE AT HALF OF THE AMOUNT OF HONEY!!! When going to our Fair each year, expect this year-KEVIN RECEIVED “BEST OF TASTE” WE DO THANK GOD FOR IT ALL ESPECIALLY THE MATURE TREES WE HAVE ON OUR PROPERTY FROM BEAUTIFULLY FRAGRANT ORCHID-LIKE FLOWERS IN THE SPRING FROM OUR BLACK LOCUST TREES TO OUR BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS FROM OUR LINDEN BASSWOOD TREES & CATALUPAS, WHICH WE MARVEL AT AND TO OUR AMAZEMENT BRINGS US AMAZING GOURMET HONEY!!! It is now almost 2019 the things that we have learned have been to raise our BEES from Ohio, so to take Ohio weather! Kevin has to been certified to raise Queen bees! In the spring he will be dividing his bees and selling bees & Queen Bees. 2021 has been a great year for extracting honey—come for Honey & lip balm & pastured eggs to: 11500 Oberlin Road, Oberlin, OH 44074–you want better health come get our honey & take a teaspoon of honey a day—& also makes great Christmas gifts!!! THANK YOU FOR READING ALL THESE WORDS!!! I AM DETERMINED TO HELP MY HUSBAND & YOU CAN HELP THE BEEKEEPER!!! HONEY MAKES AN AMAZING CHRISTMAS GIFT— come visit our small farm, my husband will hold classes(small fee) & suit you up and you can observe inside the hive and he will teach you about Bees!!!! KEVIN is a master craftsman and makes The beehives and frames! They are built to last!!! YOU Can buy a beehive as a Christmas gift and buy the package to bees in the spring, Kevin will hold your hand can teach you how to keep a hive, and get your own honey!!! If you live near Oberlin Ohio, just call him, Kevin at: 440-315-7288.
"If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live." - Albert Einstein
We just hatched out some more chicks! Here are just a few. The dark ones are Barred Rocks, and the brown ones are Rhode Island Reds. In addition, we picked up a few older chicks. He will start up again in April with new baby chicks!
Our summer honey, All natural. Pure and simple. Delicious! BASSWOOD HONEY!!!
At Bee Sweet Honey Farms LLC., we use poultry to maintain a clean beeyard. Chickens help protect our colonies from mites and other predatory insects; as opposed to using chemicals and pesticides.
