I live in Vancouver now.
This means a few things - but one of the most exciting things is that I can now start shooting the music scene a ton more than the island I just moved from. Like the good old days, ya’know? It also means I have a new playground to grow in, photographically and personally. I know I have been super quiet with posting my work in the last year. It’s incredibly hard to grow as a creative in any field when you are constantly putting yourself out there. Sometimes you just have to shut the world out and experiment with things. Instead of figuring out what other people want to see you produce, and flying with that, I have been putting a lot of time into looking within myself. It’s the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. One will bring you a genuine happiness, the other gives you the façade of happiness that even fools yourself. The thing about looking within is that it is hard and often confronting. I’d be lying if I said that through all of this I’ve come out with some sort of clear direction. I don’t really know what I’m doing as much as the next person. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to actively keep searching for it.
Sometimes I find myself in a place like I am now - with my happy-compass pointing more-or-less in some general direction.
