it seems strange that she would wait 5 years to give this particular song away..also the lyrics are beyond anything else she wrote in that period in terms of maturity..so if this were true i feel like she rewrote at least some of the lyrics to fit her situation in 2016. consider me confused.

Date of creation doesn't mean much...it can mean back in 2011 she was thinking up of a concept of it/maybe came up with a few lines but then in 2016 she was able to better put it together/actually flush it out

It could also mean she had started to write the music to it but had no lyrics, she's said on 1989 in the bonus tracks that sometimes her songwriting process starts with the music and ends with the lyrics

Cause she doesn’t exist, just like bank robber Taylor, biker Taylor, car crash Taylor and bath tub Taylor. These are all personas that the media and narrow people have assigned to her. Taylor was never and will never be greedy. Cage Taylor is real because her life is indeed being lived in a gilded cage. Snake Taylor because she has embraced and taken back the narrative of one. Zombie Taylor is hypothetically real because she has been buried so many times by desperate people but she just continues to live anyway.

As they snipe at each other to stop being so nice, stop pretending to be so surprised and to stop being such a victim, it’s a startling reminder that Swift, the actual human being, knows everything that you say about her on social media. The final, playful utterance of the famous line that she wrote about Kim and Kanye after Snapchat-gate may be tongue-in-cheek, but it also points to the fact that Swift has spent her life being placed into narratives, from the boy-obsessed cling-on to the mean girl squad leader. Showing her ‘selves’ knocking each other down with familiar barbs holds up a mirror to an age where malice is delivered by proxy, where we can bombard a woman with snake emojis and forget that the internet isn’t a vacuum but a tool for communication. Since Swift’s inevitable fall from unsustainable levels of popularity, the discourse around her has reached a level of toxicity that is no less over the top. The video’s epilogue is a reminder of the simple and yet constantly overlooked fact that if you send someone abuse online, it is delivered to them - famous or otherwise - instantly. But don’t be mistaken into thinking ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ is a cry of victimhood. Would a woman who stood up to Apple to make them pay artists fairly and who fought a landmark case against a man who sexually assaulted her fall apart because of some malicious gossip? No. The most ironic thing is that the song plays a sleight of hand – it’s actually a declaration of agency. We didn’t make her change and we didn’t make her fail. Less than a week after the song’s release, she’s broken three different streaming records; that’s what we made Taylor do.

I’ve heard a few people say the Tay character that crashes the Maserati and is at the end “getting receipts” is throwing shade at a certain someone (we all know who and that’s not the point)… I think it’s actually playing on the rumour that Taylor  does everything for attention. Like, the paparazzi are there at the crash because she called them, everything she does is for attention. None of the Taylor Swift characters in the video are meant to represent other people; they all represent the false or incomplete images people have of Swift herself.

I’ve been watching a lot of reaction videos to the video and what is really common in a lot of them is the silence/look of “Oh what” on their faces during the last bit, when Taylor is saying everything that people say about her

and I think it’s because subconsciously it’s a huge slap in the face that Taylor Swift is a human being. She’s seen and heard everything people have said...possibly things the very people watching have once said or thought. And she’s saying it out loud to herself.

And that’s never something that’s easy to watch but even more so when we’re talking about a person that people often forget is human with actual feelings and emotions. 

I just really love that it seems like some of these people are realizing “this person that I always gave shit to for not reacting the way I wanted her to, she’s a unique individual. She’s a human being. I wouldn’t want that to be me.”
