50. "if you called just to get off on my voice, i'm hanging up."
.
You were in the middle of dinner when your phone rang.Â
You were fully prepared to let it ring to voicemail, let it be something you dealt with after dinner with the extended family that came to visit for the week. But then your eyes caught the name on the screen, your heart skipped a beat and you were standing and waving off your familyâs concern as you quickly slipped out onto the patio as you answered the call.Â
âIs everything okay?âÂ
A breathy laugh echoed through your ear, one that made it a little harder to calm your pounding heart. âAlways so worried about me.âÂ
âYou called me when itâs, like, three in the morning over there,â you shot back at him. âSue me for being concerned.âÂ
âItâs cute,â Nico assured you, a soft yawn following his words. âI like that you worry about me. I worry about you too.âÂ
You leaned against the railing, glancing through the window at the sight of your family tryingâand failingâto subtly watch you back. âSo you called me in the middle of the night in Switzerland to tell me you worry about me? Iâm honoured, Nico.âÂ
âNo, no. Thatâs notâŚâ He trailed off, as though his actions were starting to catch up with him. âThat wasnât why. Mâsorry if I worried you.âÂ
It was funny, when you thought about it. Somewhere after a third situationship with a wannabe athlete in college, you swore you would never date one again. You would never be involved with them. Hell, you wouldnât give them the time of day.Â
Then, you moved to New Jersey, bumped into a cute Swiss hockey player after a horrible shift at work and suddenly found yourself sharing his bed more often than not. Whilst the two of you continued to insist to the people around you both that you were just friends.Â
Just friends who tended to fuck and apparently called each other up in the middle of the night when they were thousands of miles away.Â
âIf you called just to get off on my voice, Iâm hanging up,â you teased softly, grinning to yourself when it had the desired effect of making him laugh through the phone and breaking whatever lingering tension was between you.Â
You could hear the smile in his voice. âWell, if you are offeringâŚâÂ
âNot this time, Hischier.âÂ
âSo next time instead?âÂ
âNico,â you said in a softer voice, turning away from the window like that would somehow give you privacy from the peering looks from your family. âAre you really okay?âÂ
âYeah,â he whispered, soft and sweet and a little weary. âJustâŚcouldnât sleep. And I really missed you, just wanted to hear your voice. Weâve only been messaging since the season ended soâŚâÂ
You bit back your grin. âYou missed me?âÂ
âYeah,â he said, sounding so sure of himself that it reminded you just why you kept yourself involved with him. Whilst your college athlete situationships would be full of uncertainty and half-assed comments, Nico always seemed to make it clear exactly what he wanted and what he was thinking. Except for the friends thing, apparently. âMight miss you more than hockey.âÂ
âNow youâre just trying to butter me up so Iâll help you get off the next time you phone,â you mused, your face softening a little when you heard his laughs get interrupted by a loud yawn. âI miss you too.âÂ
âMaybeââ He paused for a moment, and you could envision the little crease between his brows as he thought hard. âMaybe you could visit?âÂ
You froze.Â
âOr like,â he carried on, a hint of nerves sounding in his voice. It almost knocked you on your ass just how unsure he sounded. It was a side to Nico you had never heard before, a side so different to that quiet confidence you associated with him. âI could maybe come a bit earlier? I was gonna fly over before preseason anyways but maybeââ
âI would love that,â you interrupted before he could fully start spiralling across the ocean from you. âIâve always wanted to visit Switzerland.âÂ
He let out a bated breath. âIâll be the best tour guide.â
âI have high expectations,â you told him, briefly glancing back over your shoulder to see the anxious expression on your motherâs face. âLook, I have to head back to dinner now but Iâll send you my ticket details in the morning, yeah?â
âYeah,â he murmured, sounding unbelievably soft. âGoodnight, schatz. Iâll see you soon.âÂ

63. trying to concentrate on a task, but your lover kisses your neck, making your head spin
.
âAndrei.â
âHm?â
âStop it.âÂ
âStop what?âÂ
âI swear to god, you are so impatient.âÂ
You could feel his grin against your skin, feel it where his mouth was pressed against your neck from the soft, lingering kisses he had been leaving across your skin for the last fifteen minutes. If anything, it was pure stubbornness that had kept you from opening your mouth before that.Â
With Bye-Week around the corner, it had been a brutal realisation that between the two of you and your busy schedules, neither one of you had organised the holiday you had spoken about countless times over the last few weeks. In all honesty, you barely even realised it was hitting January until a glance at the calendar a few days ago had been a slap to the face.Â
Like any rational human, you were stressed. You were meant to be flying out in a few weeks and you had nothing sorted: no flights booked, no hotel reservations, no itinerary. However, despite your anxiety over the fact nothing was planned, Andrei seemed to be the complete oppositeâif the fact he was mauling at your neck was any clue.Â
âIs fine,â Andrei murmured, nuzzling his nose against the sensitive area just beneath your ear. âThe flights will still be there later. Come back to bed.âÂ
âNo.âÂ
Andrei let out a dramatic groan, his forehead pressed against your shoulder as you kept your eyes locked on the laptop screen in front of you (with an internal debate about whether flying late at night or early in the morning was the better option).Â
âThe resort will not disappear,â Andrei mumbled, his fingers skimming down your side before he began fiddling with the hem of your hoodieâhis hoodie, he noted to his own delightâand tugging playfully. âYou know what will disappear? Our very nice, very lonely morning together on a day with no work or hockey.âÂ
âIt can wait until after everything is booked,â you said firmly, taking a deep breath as your boyfriend began kissing along your neck once again.
âIs fine, baby,â Andrei mused, his voice low and sweet as he moved his hands up your sides and down your arms, reaching towards your laptop. âWe can do it laterââ
But you quickly smacked his hands away. âIt wonât get done if you keep distracting me.â
âOh no, we will have to spend a whole week alone together in this apartment,â Andrei teased, his chin hooked on your shoulder so he could at least get a peek at the smile he knew you were trying to hide. âWe will have to find new ways to have sex to keep it interesting.â
You snorted. âShut up.âÂ
âNo, yes, you are right. Sex is much more fun on fancy resort beach,â he nodded, turning his head to press a smacking kiss to your cheek.Â
You paused, turning to look at him. âSo youâll leave me alone until I have finished booking everything?âÂ
âOr we pay money for someone else to book for us and we start practicing resort beach sex,â Andrei countered.Â
You shot him a look.
âFine. You book and I will go get breakfast.â
You beamed up at him. âThank you, baby.âÂ
âYes, yes,â Andrei waved you off, though there was a matching grin on his face as he grabbed his keys and made his way towards the door. âI am best boyfriend ever. No need to say.â
If youâre still doing blurbs with the list of kisses, a kiss on the bicep with Nico maybe, like itâs a small gesture seems to me like itâd be a reassurance thing idk but whatever you feel like I know itâll be great! đЎ
i am lowkey in the spooky season mood so this kinda became an unofficial follow up blurb to this nico halloween fic i wrote last yearđšthank you for requesting!đŤśđ˝
25. a kiss on the bicep
.
Nico Hischier was not afraid of crowds.Â
It would be pretty stupid if he was considering the fact he played in front of thousands of people every other night for his job. He was used to having multiple pairs of eyes on him, knowing they were watching his every move and judging and probably forming their own opinions. He knew how to talk in front of them, how to take a mic and say the media approved responses that would get him a grateful smile from the PR team whenever he stepped off the ice.Â
He was used to being the centre of attention. He was used to having the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was used to having to take the brunt of the judgement and opinions.Â
All that to say, you would think that being the captain of the New Jersey Devils would give Nico more than enough experience to deal with tough crowds and difficult situations until the two of you were standing outside a building where the doors led inside to a family reunion.Â
Your family reunion.Â
Your family of werewolves, to be exact.
âI canât do this.â
âYes, you can,â you assured your boyfriend, reaching down to intertwine your hands together and give them a tight squeeze. âThey will love you.âÂ
Nico shot you a disbelieving look.
âThey will grow to love you once they realise how amazing you are,â you amended with a sheepish smile and another quick squeeze of his hand. âI wouldnât bring you here if I didnât think otherwise.âÂ
âYouâre a little biased in your opinion of me,â Nico murmured, eyeing the door a couple of feet ahead of you both. He contemplated if there was enough time for him to bolt back to the car and zoom off before any of your family even realised he was here.Â
âMy opinion is the one that matters the most,â you declared, holding his hand a little tighter like you could read the thoughts in his head. âNico, baby, you make me happy. Once my family sees that, nothing else will matter.â
âYour family invited you ex to the family reunion despite the fact the two of you have been broken up for two years,â Nico deadpanned, glancing down at you with a crease forming between his brows. âThey still love himââ
âBut I donât,â you interrupted, your voice firm but genuine. âI love you. Youâre the only one who matters to me.â
His eyes softened and you could have sworn you could see a pink tint to his cheeks as you left a lingering kiss on his bicep, where the fabric was straining over his arms.Â
âAnd I cannot wait to show my family all the parts of you I love too,â you continued.
A cheeky grin formed on his face. âAll the parts?âÂ
âYouâre a dirty dog, Hischier,â you grumbled as you began tugging him towards the front door, but he could see the smile on your face.Â
âI learnt from the best, baby.âÂ
âGood, youâll fit right in. I give it ten minutes before Grandma forgets you are human and makes you join the hunt.â
