That said... I felt in love with Rui since his adult design, name and VA was announced. Some of my old art/stuff featuring him was wild speculation until now.

As I said, it was a very short story for this AU, since it wasn't totally related to CS/HM main stories and felt more likely a mini-series focused on a minor hacker team. This was an AU i had in mind in August 2021 when i was playing Cyber Sleuth for the first time and had a different approach.
The original approach was something more like Daisuke getting Aiba protag'd treatment, but he was also part of his own hacker team. There weren't much details on it since i was playing the game, but it was just a bunch of shenanigans related to the small Daily Daisuke Doodles i made featuring some parts of my own playthrough, but i drew Daisuke with Takumi's outfit while i played with Ami in-game. I attempted to design a Cyber Sleuth version of Daisuke a year later (i think?), when i finished Hacker's Memory.
The sudden change in the roles, and adding the Space trio & Rui into the AU came quite recently! And I may say, thanks to BeatBreak being similar to Cyber Sleuth series in plot and aesthetic that i had this silly desire to re-write this AU and make it a little more complex.
Despite everything, Ken and Ryo being part of the Amas Stellaire group as Pluton and Jupiter once is exclusively to this AU and it won't be related to Noel's lore or even YDP series at all. So I hope it can clarify any future confusion on whether Ken and Ryo are part of Noel's phantom thief group or not in the overall lore.
Also, Rui and Ken being related here is just a nod to my own jokes and a friend saying "they look alike!" when an art featuring 8yo Rui was released as promotional gift at Digimon Partners. She even explained why she had that feeling... And since then, i have this crack joke that Rui and Ken are distant relatives, lol. So, in this AU it felt like a good twist like when you learn Date Makkiko is Nokia's cousin.
I don't ship siblings or cousins, so i wrote this to be more family bonds instead. Besides, i'm starting to enjoy this headcanon seriously and especially now that i'm unable to stop shipping Rui with Daisuke and/or Meiko, and Ken and Miyako are married and with a child (soon more two kids) in my current main timeline stuff... So any previously romantic Rui → Ken stuff is outdated info. Thanks for reading my disclaimer.
BTW, even if this is a crappy finale or a crappy story... I hope it was at least fun to deliver an AU version of those characters.
I am for sure happy i got to write another AU thing with a closure! Even if the Legend Xros Wars AU was released and finished in a document format, i know some people loved it and enjoyed its premise! I considered doing the same with this AU too, but i thought "Maybe i could try writing a story instead!" and there we are.
While writing this, i started to get some interesting ideas from Kamen Rider Drive & Persona stuff for YDP series. I'd like to work on those soon or later.

somehow i just went too fast on this fanfic and wrote only… 6 chapters of it…? I mean, it's more like a mini-series than a full plot like it is Cyber Sleuth & Hacker's Memory games…
so obviously it will be short. besides that i've been thinking about what's next on YDP series too…

Currently planning to refresh my memory about CS & HM events, but this one fanfic is following Cyber Sleuth's events around chapter 10-11 and beyond, but not directly, like Hacker's Memory is an interquel focused on the hacker's side of the story.
Some surprises in this one, both as plot and characters.
this is a complaint that serves for many things, but it's not fun when you see someone being all whimsy and happy about something silly and cute, and then you drop some weird and negative joke/comment on their whimsy and joyful post/art/etc.

also yes, this is the mentioned Chiropmon OC.
i cannot imagine an AU where Rui is not partnered with Ukko, but i can toss Rui in other settings where he can have one or two more digimon and obviously i'd have picked Chiropmon for him because it fits his aes.
like CSHM AU where he can have more than one digimon besides his main partner, for example.

Ok, so... Before we continue, I will have to put a BIG DISCLAIMER since this kind of thing ends up with people assuming my headcanons are canon despite any mention to them being obviously headcanons and not canon information i got from something obscure media that does not exist at all.
And during ▽ releases some funny-person i don't know who was stole some of my wild theories and AU-ish content to sell as fake leaks for pt5 OVA. This is why many of my 02TB speculation posts and wild guesses ones were unrebloggable until the movie release -- you see, the one theory about Rui's right eye being corrupted by digital data and glitching? I drew some stuff with that in mind, and had turned reblogs off on those posts for a while (the may be still unrebloggable idk) to avoid some funny-person to use my post either to spread fake leaks, or spoil the movie on those.
(someone had once spoiler a movie on my art's comment section before. i did not ask for spoilers, my policy is "only spoil if i ask" plus "ask if i want to hear such spoilers first", which unfortunately not many people seem to get...)
So, to avoid people either yelling at me for my own headcanons, or asking me for source on those info i built for an old project with my own ideas and eccentrics...
THOSE ARE ALL HEADCANONS, FOLKS. TAKE THEM AS HEADCANONS ONLY.
it's OK to disagree with them, and have your own ideas. But i'd prefer to not hear that you dislike them or disagree with them. You can yes, correct some details if i made mistakes, or even suggest some stuff (this is how we exchange ideas and have a cool convo imo), but otherwise any "oh i hate this headcanon" and anything around those lines will be removed + blocked if you insist.

Following my delusional headcanons, i think Rui would still be around and keeping in touch with the 02 kids (+ perhaps Koushiro & Taichi for my other delulu headcanons i will talk about another time), so maybe he will be quite aware when they get babies.
Considering my silliest fanfiction, YDP sequel, Rui is well aware of KenMiya's first born baby -- who i've adopted the name 'Mai' from my friend Shai/demonoflight (and i've adoped many names from her with her permission ofc) -- and get the first instincts of wanting to make sure the baby + her parents were safe and protected. Because he's afraid of him dragging them into a bad ending where Mai becomes orphan like him and yeah, he had to get a verbal vibe check from Miyako on this (and it worked thankfully!)
So I suppose Mai would've been the first of them all to have more contact with Rui and Ukkomon, maybe she even have this feeling Ukkomon was always around and is super duper comfortable to him. The good part is that Ken and Miyako wouldn't find it strange, knowing Rui and Ukko were watching them for a while, so it means a newborn Mai possibly felt she wasn't alone when Miyako and Ken weren't taking care of her for a moment, or when everyone was asleep.
So i think she could be the first of them.
And I think everyone from the 02 group's children would like him, because who wouldn't? He's nice, Ukko's nice and funny too. And they would throw hands with people who dare to hurt those children and their parents...
But I think also the ones Rui had more contact with, like Daisuke, Ken and (stealing this from 13+) Takeru. Also my HCs for Hikari's son would make him a top subject for study... Meanwhile I suppose Iori's daughter would have no hard feelings or anything, just appreciate his help and for being friends with her dad...?
So i think Daisuke's kid, who i HC-borrowed-from-Shai named as Daiki, would enjoy hear all the stuff Ukkomon has to say and babble about. Daisuke would totes introduce Rui and Ukko to his child and wife. I don't care, they all would get along very well imo.
Rui would find the idea of wearing goggles in the year of 2027 sort of steampunk-ish and maybe he would vibe with this idea. I mean, Rui's design is pretty much different from Daisuke's, so i feel like Daiki would see an emo-goth-aes and think "WHOA, WHAT A RAD GUY!!" (or whatever slang kids use nowadays, lol [Ni is old...]) Maybe he could mistake Rui with a vampire at first, but this would only make Rui confused and not insulted. Tbh he might find it even funny, considering he did dress up as vampire before, lol
But KenMiya's middle son (Toushin, also HC name adopted from Shai) would mistake him with a legit blood relative because of the hair color. I mean, Miyako's hair is purple. And Toushin's hair is also purple. Rui's hair is purple. Even if he's smart, he could probably some curiosity in Rui's family tree and seek if either of his parents, are blood-related to him. Maybe they could bond over this? Rui seems the kind to seek for answers and learn more about the digimon in general, and Toushin would like to know more about the digimon and this OP-lore about the First Chosen Child and First Digimon.
As for Tsubasa (yes, this kid), who's also enby (it's my HCs, remember?), would vibe with Rui for also being enby and for following their own path. Both could talk about digimon and some things about fashion-sense. While Rui likes to wear black a ton, Tsubasa likes mint and green tones, and both are more on the neutral and non-flashy-and-vibrant colors, so it feels something in common. All of that in the distant future, because in 2027 Tsubasa is only a baby and cannot even decide their own identity and path yet!
Then you have Mitsuki who's basically a kid into oldschool and retro stuff so badly that maybe Rui would be good to talk about ol' tech from the 90s or just listen this kid babble about his favorite stuff, watch his reviews and encourage him just like his parents do. Sometimes you need a good listener and quite of unbiased person to ask for opinions on stuff!
Hikaru (another name i adopted from Shai) has this interest in parkour so... you can imagine he would have some interest on Rui because of the ol' Tokyo Tower incident. He's buggin Rui for details, for every single detail Rui could remember and keeps imagining how could've he climbed it and how much it would take for him to climb it by himself.
Obviously Hikari would have to interfere, but she would just tease the heck out of Rui for still being the famous "Tokyo Tower Guy". Let alone being a skilled spy-agent-part-time-phantom-thief as well.
Idk much about Reika and him, but i do not think she would hate him or anything else. She probably on the camp of "thank you for being friends with my father, and for helping us out when we're in danger" sort of kid? She may understand Rui's personality a bit, or at least try to. Being bad at communicating with people could be a hassle (for lack of better wording) when you're working as sort of spy agent, but she admires his efforts. She may-may-not be aware of him also being involved with a criminal group (ahem, yeah, Noel? I cannot separate my OCs from my headcanons anymore, sorry for that), but as long they are not doing anything bad and are definitely helping people and digimon against dangerous guys and groups, she won't dislike him at all.
And yeah, since my HCs makes Rui work with Koushiro as his agent for the Chosen Network...
Mirai, one of my favorite kids to write silly headcanons because i've perceived her as funny and a mad genius, would totes want to study his smartwatch and its tech, unveil its mysteries and even repair it for him in case her dad or Mizuki-and-Youta are not available to fix it. She's a mini-inventor after all!
She's too naive and purehearted, so she does not see any malice in Rui, not even when she knows he committed crimes under Noel's orders and by his own free will. And knowing this, he would just keep making sure no one hurts or deceives her at all (well, Noel also agrees with that: if the children of his allies are in danger, he won't hesitate to intervene and save/rescue them.)
...And that's all. long post but yeah, to compensate the long disclaimer right there, lol.
