A chairde, I’m gonna be applying for jobs soon and I would like to know how you find distance job hunting vs. staying for a while (2 weeks let’s say) and applying while actually in the country you want to work in. Anybody?
WELL. I’d say both are fine, really. But I moved to Germany 4 months ago because I wasn’t getting anywhere with applying from the UK but I still haven’t been able to get a job whilst being here (apart from when I had a terrible job in a hotel for a couple weeks but it didn’t work out). I would recommend bringing a LOT of savings to support yourself if you do what I did. I guess it‘s just luck either way really.
I did prelim things abroad: applying to school, finding an apartment. Once I arrived in Germany and finished school, I applied for jobs all over the country (so still a lot of distance involved and day long train rides to interview and apartment hunting once I got the job). All of it costs a lot of money and time but it can be accomplished if you save up and prepare yourself to be tired and broke for at least a few months. More than three years down and I’m still here!
If anyone ever has questions about picking up and moving to another country alone on A SEVERELY LIMITED BUDGET, let me know!
