Beyond The Beauty of Carmen Berzatto

The fact that you're all trying to guess the feelings of a grown man who literally asked his colleague, "WHAT IS A GIRLFRIEND?"(208) is beyond me.

You're so blinded by the main character's sex appeal that you forget that Carmen has been an awkward/nerdy/neurodivergent man all his life who never made decisions for himself except when he decided to hire Sydney and keep her without anyone's influence.

Carmen's lack of experience means he probably doesn't know the difference between a platonic relationship versus a romantic relationship with a woman.

That's why he was baffled when Sydney tried to introduce Claire as his girlfriend.

That's why Claire pursued him, not the other way around.

That's why, at this stage, he can't even describe the nature of his feelings for Sydney.

It's also why, the day after his panic attack, he hasn't said a word to his sister, even though he's been confiding in her since season one.

Because he's confused himself, and doesn't understand why Sydney's vision reassured him more than Claire's did. It's also interesting that he chose not to remember when she called him a piece of shit.

Everything happens on an UNCONSCIOUS level for him, which explains all these confusing montages showing Claire and Sydney at the same time.

That's also why he made his declaration to Sydney UNDER the table where CLAIRE ATE. Because everything HIDDEN is unconscious.

Mise En Place by badcircuit love fics that present syd and carmy as partners in every sense of the word. beautifully written, hot as fuck. another one that gets syd right. again, i take portrayals of my girl so seriously and this one is gorg.

Take Care by oysterknife oh boy. this one literally came out last week but i already read it upwards of 10 times. i will read anything oysterknife writes but GODDAMN. this one changed my brain chemistry with the emotional intimacy between the two. i love longing and yearning and this one is like a masterclass in it. the literary references made me kick my feet and giggle. as a brooklyn girlie, THIS is the nyc i wanna see: flushing, crown heights, greenpoint minus the condos, shitting on the residents of murray hill, i want it all. also the ending made me sob. not joking.

Is Carmy longing to share his bed with someone?

I noticed something interesting about Carmy’s mattress size when I watched this wonderful edit. Carmy’s mattress is big enough for two people, but Carmy is only sleeping on the right side of the bed as if there is someone else on the left side of the bed. Interesting, right? What’s more interesting is that when he is sitting up, he looks on his left side as if he’s expecting someone to be there. Is Carmy longing to share his bed with someone? On the other hand, Syd’s bed is big enough for one person. Very interesting!

I simply can’t wait for the time when Carmy looks on his left side of the bed to see Sydney sleeping next to him. Alexa, play “In My Bed” by Rotimi.

Yes. Her boyfriend was there. So she wanted to show him respect and not make him feel uncomfortable. The same goes for her coworker who didn’t want to be hit by the boyfriend who doesn’t seem to like him. That’s why they were distant. I think it’s going to stay that way for a long time. So all we have left is Sydcarmy. I wish A all the best. And I trust her judgement. Having experienced it myself, I can’t bear to have my word questioned when I say that I’m seeing a man like my brother or colleague. And don’t forget she’s an only child so it’s possible that she needs to feel close to certain men in a friendly way to the point where it becomes ambiguous.

For a second I really thought there was something between JAW and Ayo, but then the pda pics of Jeremy and Rosalia made me think otherwise. Do you think JAW and Rosalia are PR relationship?

I don’t think they are PR. Maybe I'm naive but Rosalia gives off romantic vibes so I can't see her getting into a relationship just for P.R. But I understand why a lot of people think they are. It’s probably because they have no chemistry and they don’t seem natural or authentic together. They are TRYING to act as a couple. But something is missing. It seems forced. And staged.

You can date one person and have feelings for another. Especially when the person you like doesn’t want to be with you for some reasons. Most straight men move on very quickly when they can’t be with the woman they want initially because they have needs and don’t like to be alone. But that doesn’t mean they don’t think anymore to their crush, especially if they still have access to this person. The under the table scene is a perfect example of what I am trying to explain here. This scene with his coworker was more charged and sexy than any scenes with Claire who was his soon-to-be Girlfriend. And if you still don’t understand What I mean, read my articles and conclusion about Carmen, Claire and Sydney : « This means that even though Claire is his official girlfriend, deep down, it's Sydney he wants and it’s Sydney he needs. Which explains why Carmen later felt the need to whisper sweet nothings to Sydney under the table. It's an unconscious way of compensating for his frustration. It’s a roundabout way to make love to Sydney. »

Maybe it’s not clear but I DON’T ship A&J. And I don’t ship adults in general even in fiction, because I think adults are FREE to do what they want. And showrunners are free to write what they want. Dating and love are personal, individual decisions. A has said several times she didn’t want to date him. And I respect her decision, because contrary to Carmen, J is not a virgin. He has baggage. Some childless women who have never been married don’t want to share their man with their ex-wives and first children. Some of them don’t want to date an addict neither. It’s not a soft life there ! And A has the right to date a man with a better track record.

BUT that doesn’t mean I am going to shut up and being politically correct when I see the OBVIOUS ! And when I do that, I am not shipping, I am just describing what I am observing ! I haven't seen every Red Carpet in my life, but I've never seen actors behave like this. Between that and the accidentally romantic pictures, use your intuition. Look at the way people look at them ! I don’t want to do a « sydcarmy » debate again in listing all my evidences when even antiSydcarmies now see what we saw since the beginning. The only revelation we had as meta-analyser is, knowing, that all these stares, smiles, blushing + the tension under the table, were not just acting. Some of us evoked this theory to joke when the cast tried to gaslighting us and we tried to find a rational explanation about all this chemistry. But finally, we can say the joke is on us 🤡.

The reason why I am happy about this revelation as a « selfish »viewer is that means the next episodes, seasons and promotions are going to be more intense for us as fans of The Bear. Because If they have this chemistry with only « platonic » scenes, imagine what it’s going to be when they will not be platonic any more. I also think It’s going to wake up some (new) feelings IRL between them. And As viewers we are going to feel it, to see it and to scream about it because it’s going to be so difficult to handle. They both seem to have an emotional and spiritual connection, which to me is stronger than a sexual one. That’s why I said I send prayers to Motomami. It was not a shade. Her fans are very invasive so it’s sure they are not going to shut up about it, especially those who would have preferred Rosie to marry Rauw as planned.
