he hears you enter the front door with a long sigh, hearing the thump of your bag hitting the floor. he’d usually tell you to pick it up, but he could already tell you were having a long hard day, so your bag was the least of his problems.
“hi baby.” seonghwa greets you quietly as he sees your figure walk through the hallway to the dimly lit living room.
you hum in response to his greeting, slumping on the couch next to him, letting your head rest at the back of it with your eyes closed. you feel his hand coming to your face, his thumb stroking just under your eye in attempt to bring you any type of comfort.
“long day?” he questioned, his voice as soft as ever with the background noise of the tv.
“hard day.” you sighed, leaning into his touch.
“my baby. my sweet girl.” he cooed, bringing you closer to his chest, “you’re safe with me. you’re home, and you can rest. i’ll take care of you.” he said as he brushes your hair out of your face.
“thank you, hwa.” your voice trembled.
“let it all out, hm?” seonghwa hummed, smiling sadly to himself as he felt your tears hitting his tshirt, he couldn’t bare to see you cry, but he’d rather you let it all out than let it build up.
“sorry.” you quickly wiped your tears, the feeling of shame creeping in once again for allowing yourself to cry over your work place.
“no apologising. hey, listen to this,” he starts, lifting your face to meet his, “‘m gonna make you some food, then run you a bath.” he pecks your lips twice, “how does that sound?”
“perfect. thank you.” you smile and kiss his cheek before he sets off to the kitchen to cook you something. god, you won with him.

with a heaving chest, you pushed out a heavy exhale, dragging your nail along the edge of the tub.
lately you felt like life was getting a little… tedious. for lack of better words. you found yourself feeling ‘not entirely there.’
you were practically dragging yourself through the work week at this point. each day felt longer than the last.
with heavy lids, you stared forwards at your raised up knees poking out of the soapy, warm water.
“why’d i think a bath would fix my whole week..?”
you frowned before flinching in the water at the loud trill of your bathroom’s echo dot. seemingly, alexa had an announcement to make.
‘hwahwa beating heart’ is calling.
despite alexa butchering the pronunciation of the nickname, you really could not have been happier to hear that out of her. no matter how jarring it was that she read out the emoji too.
you yelled in response, “alexa, answer.” cutting her trilling short as it was replace with seonghwa’s smooth, deep voice.
“hello, hello.”
“hwa, hi lover.”
“hey, you. are you feeling a little better?”
you hadn’t even told seonghwa the week you’d been having in detail, but he seemed to know you better than you knew yourself. all you had to do was complain once and he read you like a book.
“uh huh.”
“why do you sound so far from the phone..?” his comforting voice glitched in and out ever so slightly. probably from all the steam that had gotten into the speaker over time.
you yelled back to him, shifting in the water. “i’m taking a bath.”
“a bath..? uh, well, that’s no good.”
your brows came together in a perplexed frown. “why?”
“how are you gonna answer the door for me?”
a second wave of light brightened your eyes at his question.
“say swear, seonghwa.”
“let me inn.” he sang down the mic and you could have sworn tears welled up in your eyes, just for a second.
gathering all your strength, you lifted yourself out of the tub, wrapped yourself in your bathrobe and padded downstairs to the front door.
yanking the door open to reveal your boyfriend at your doorstep. the dark strands of his bangs fell down over his brown eyes and the corners of his mouth kicked up in a smile at the sight of you. he stared at you, not as if you had hung the stars in the sky, but as if you were a star yourself and you had fallen down to earth just for him.
“hi, babydoll.”
nothing was stopping you from immediately burying your face in his chest and wrapping your arms around him.
“i needed you here..”
seonghwa scooped you up in his arms, carrying you in the direction of the living room. “poor baby.” he rubbed your back, dropping down onto your couch, you now straddling him.
“i have had a week.” your arms curled round his neck as you settled your chin on his shoulder. you frowned at the thought. “i don’t even know...”
seonghwa’s hand stayed rubbing at your back while his other hand came up to cradle your head. “talk to me.”
“that’s the thing, like. i can’t put it into coherent words. it’s just like every day this week has been shitty. nothing specific, just shitty.”
he laughed softly under you. “yeah, i mean. you don’t have to explain it. you can feel shitty.”
“i can. i do.”
you lifted your head off his shoulder to look at him and he pouted. a smile was very clearly trying to win over his features. bless his heart, he was trying to sympathise with you.
“well, i bet you had a wonderful week.”
seonghwa laughed at you. now it was him dropping his head to your shoulder. why would you say that?
“how did you guess?”
“you look happy as fuck.” you rolled your eyes playfully and he cheesed.
“no, yeah, my week was okay. i had a nice, average week. i’m just happy because im here with you.” seonghwa shrugged but you didn’t seem to be buying it. “but hey, enough about me. i wanna make your week. then we can both have nice, average weeks.”
“right. and how you gonna do that?”

“mmh, fuck, baby…” your eyelids fluttered closed in pleasure. “that’s so good.”
“yeah? you like it?”
“mhm.” you wiped some marinara sauce away from the corner of your mouth. “you have serious talent, park seonghwa.”
seonghwa turned away from the kitchen counter to smile at you, coyly. “thank you very much.”
the sound of your defeated sigh caused him to turn back around, fully this time. as beautiful as you looked, even when you were frowning; your frown spread to him.
“hey, what’s the matter?”
you looked up at him from the beautifully presented dish before you. “i really love the, uhm, the meatballs.”
seonghwa gave you a sad smile. “and that makes you sad?” he walked over to where you were sat and cradled your face in his hands, rubbing his thumb against your cheek.
“n-no, i’m just like.. i don’t know. i’m glad you came over.”
he pressed a kiss to your head. “i’m glad i came over too.”
“you’re so good to me. i can’t believe you came to my house at like 7pm and cooked me dinner.”
seonghwa dropped another kiss, this time, onto your forehead as you blinked up at him. “you deserve it. i should do this every night.”
a soft laugh shook through your body. “you lowkey should.”
“you’d like that wouldn’t you? if i came over ever night to cook you pasta?”
“i’d eat that shit up, yeah.” you answered him with blunt expression. before the both of you fell out into laughter.
“okay, don’t be sad. that makes me sad.” he kissed your nose. “okay?”
you were almost turned into a vampire, but before you could be fully turned, the vampire was staked. This left you with a vampire weakness, while still being human.
