Raven took pride in how sheâd decorated the shop. None of the guys that worked there gave a damn if it looked good, but since she lived there, she tried to keep it aesthetically pleasing. At least as much as a garage could. âThanks, Bell.â For a flicker of a moment her smile was softâ appreciative. That didnât last long though as Bellamy explained his reason for the drop in, and she countered what ways he could return payment. Everyone gave her money, but having a little power over him? Sadistically she took delight in it. âPerfect. Mine, huh? Better watch your choice of words carefully, Bell. Otherwise Iâll have you doing all sort of tasks for me. I promise though - only one IOU. Unless of course thereâs more than one thing wrong with your baby.â
Her eyes shone, boring deeply into his for another locked second before she broke the connection. If she lingered too long, she might do something stupid again. Like kiss him. Not that Raven regretted that night together; at least not in general terms. It had been fantastic. However, it also left her feeling vulnerable because truth was, she cared more for Bellamy than she let on. âSo is it making any funny sounds or rattling, or just seems rough? You did remember to put gas in it, right?â She couldnât resist teasing him about something that anyone with a driverâs license knew to do. Then again, sheâd seen so many people tear up their cars by constantly running the tank on empty. âAlright, Iâm gonna grab my tool box, why donât you pull her right in there,â the mechanic directed, pointing toward an open spot in the shop.Â
If he didnât know any better, it was a moment of sincerity from Raven, the soft thank you she gave him over how he described the decor inside the shop. She of course also made it her home, and took a possessive ownership of it. âYouâre welcome,â his reply matched hers in earnest. The moment didnât last, however, once she wanted to know why heâd come in there in the first place. âOh I know what I said, thatâs just how much I trust you with my truck that Iâm willing to offer myself out there like that.â He shrugged, smile returning to his face again. âWell youâre the expert, far as I know itâs just the one thing wrong with her. Maybe thereâs more, so maybe itâll be more IOUâs?â He really was in her hands now, nobody knew as much about mechanics as she did and he wasnât the type that would try to bluff his way through and try to act like he knew just as much.
âNone I can hear, it just feels... off. I donât know how to explain it really other than that, thereâs just something not quite right. It sounds a little louder than normal too, maybe thatâs connected?â He shook his head again, and snapped his finger. âKnew I forgot something.â Her teasing nature couldnât help but make him grin, Bellamyâs tongue peeking out as he licked his lip. âOkay, Iâll be right back with her then. Donât get lost in here now.â He left the garage and went to go start up his truck, waiting for her to open the bay door and then eased it into the spot sheâd directed him to. Far from the first time sheâd ordered him around, and the truth was from her, he kind of liked it. Their night together always managed to find its way back into his mind whenever he was around her, and today it was there louder than ever.
