Writing Meme!

Pick any passage of 500 words or less from any fanfic I’ve written, and stick that selection in my ask/fan mail. I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what’s going on in the character’s heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

What’s this post all about, you ask? Well, hold on tight to your chairs (or couches, or beds, or YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN), because the bellarkefanfiction team is very happy to introduce to you the first – of hopefully many – *drum rolls*

… annual Bellarke Fanfiction Awards!

After all, it is no secret that this fandom is full of amazing and talented authors – people that, even when canon seems dead set on wanting to break our tiny hearts into a million pieces, always manage to create the perfect scenarios to piece our souls back together. Canon-compliant stories, slight or total AUs, movies adaptations… in the form of multi-chaptered fanfictions, oneshots, drabbles – even poetry. If you check our fanfiction blog, the appropriate tags on tumblr, or ff.net and ao3, and you will immediately see just how much material there is to read and imagine our own Bellarke past, present and future, and how we’ve been blessed with it. In just over a year, we’ve accomplished a remarkable feat and we, as a whole fandom, should be immensely proud of it.

And that’s why it’s time to let all those writers have some of the recognition and praise that they deserve, to let them know just how much we appreciate the time, effort and creativity that they put in their stories every day. That’s what these awards will be about: giving back.

So, from the 4th to the 15th of June, please take a little bit of time out of your day to nominate your favorite authors and works of fiction through our nominations page. To make sure that the highest number of people possible will have a chance to participate and get nominated, our team has come up with a grand total of 48 possible categories, so make sure to chip in with your favorites a little bit everywhere! Angst, fluff, specific tropes… no matter what you like, you won’t be let down. Of course, before nominating, also make sure to read our rules as our Research Squad will ensure that all nominations meet the requirements stated in them before they can be accepted.

Then, from the 19th to the 30th of June, voting for all categories will take place. Please note that we will not tolerate any form of cheating or bribery for votes, and that nominees will be disqualified to ensure fairness were we to suspect something. Finally all winners will be revealed on the 3rd of July.

So now, go get your swords and armor, and get ready for when nominations will be opened.
