Pairing: Lloyd Garmadon x Reader
Set During: After the events of season 6. this is my delusional fantasy world where I pretend season 7 and everything else never happened and the ninja lived happily ever after
You hadn't been feeling well for weeks. You and Lloyd figured you had caught a bug from somewhere, as it was that time of year. Everyone around you seemed to be dropping like flies.
Originally, you'd thought you had gotten food poisoning. You and Lloyd had gone out for a little date when it started, and you presumed maybe something had disagreed with you. But that didn't seem to be the case, as the sick feeling lasted for another day and another and another.
It was a rather odd sickness, if it even was that. You were only really sick in the mornings and afternoons. You had your suspicions, though it was a bit too real for you to wrap your head around. You and Lloyd were awfully young. You had gotten married at twenty-one after dating for a couple years, and pining long before that. And even then it had only been a few years since you'd gotten married.
You weren't worried, exactly, just a bit wary. It was just the slightest bit too early.
Your suspicions were practically confirmed when your period was late after you'd been sick for the week. Your periods were almost never late, and you hadn't skipped a period in years. But nonetheless, you waited in hopes maybe it would show up.
Another week passed with no sign of your period and you continued to feel sick. Lloyd, ever the worrier, was close to making you go to the doctor because he wasn't sure this was just some bug anymore. He didn't have the same line of thinking as you. He was a little clueless when it came to things like this, and he always thought of the most innocent answer. You didn't want to suggest anything to him yet, as you were afraid to worry him or get his hopes up in case it actually was just a scare.
Instead, you waited until he would be out of the house for a bit and walked to the drugstore down the road for a test.
You brought it home, mind whirling with a million thoughts at once. You pushed them all down, not wanting to think too much.
You took the test and waited, staring down at the little stick. Sure enough, two lines appeared. It wasn't a shock. It felt more like your body had been filled with a low buzzing and made you feel a little faint. You went ahead and took another test just to be sure.
Again, it was positive. You almost felt as though you might be sick again, but you barred yourself. You just had to wait until Lloyd got home.
A couple hours later, Lloyd arrived, carrying a surprise bouquet of your favorite flowers. He smiled as you greeted him at the door, and he leaned down to kiss your forehead. "Hey, sunshine, how are you feeling?" He asked.
You smiled back at him, even if you were a bit nervous for what you were about to tell him. "I'm alright." You answered. "What's that?" You questioned with a little laugh as he hid the bouquet partially behind his back.
Lloyd chuckled. "Just a little something to help you feel better." You said, and handed you the flowers.
You held the flowers gently, the aroma sweet and mild. "Thank you, honey." You said softly.
"You're welcome." He answered, and began to shrug off his jacket.
You watched him for a moment, trying to think of the best segue to tell him the news. "I have something for you, too." You spoke up, shifting a bit nervously on your feet.
He looked up from where he was hanging up his jacket on the coatrack. "What is it?"
He did so, and you took his hand, carefully leading him through the small apartment and into the kitchen. One of the tests you had taken was laying on the counter.
You stopped Lloyd just in front of it, and set the flowers down to your side.
"Can I open them?" Lloyd asked impatiently, a smile still on his lips.
"Yeah." You answered, the nervousness palpable in your voice.
He opened his eyes, grinning, but when he saw the test it immediately fell. He picked it up silently and stared at it for a moment, before lifting his gaze to you. "Honey..." He said sadly, looking you over.
This was definitely not the reaction you were expecting. You had anticipated joy, or tears or laughter or something different, at the very least.
You felt tears spring to your eyes. Did he not want a baby? You'd talked about having kids many many times before and he always said he wanted them. Did he think it was too soon? Was he just not ready?
"Lloyd, do you know what that is?" You asked him, trying to hold in a smile.
He nodded a bit solemnly and looked back down at the test. "You're really sick?" He said, his voice soft.
You couldn't help but laugh just a little at his response. You shook your head quickly, smiling. "No, baby, I'm pregnant."
One of his hands flew up to cover his mouth at hearing this, and he looked like he might faint. But instead he stood there for a moment, stunned. "Really?" He breathed, as if he couldn't believe it.
You only nodded, feeling more tears come to your eyes. Lloyd finally broke from his stupor and dropped the test on the counter, quickly gathering you up in his arms. It was the most careful hug he'd ever given you. He held you close and leaned his head into your neck, his shoulders shuddering. It took you a moment to realize that he was crying.
The two of you stood there silently for a long moment, wrapped up in each other's embrace. Your own tears fell and wet his shoulder.
It felt like ages before the two of you pulled back. That same grin from before had found its way back onto Lloyd's face, though his eyes were still red-rimmed and watery. "This isn't a joke?" He asked with a little laugh, wiping at one eyes with the back of his hand.
You only shook your head, a lump in your throat.
Lloyd cupped your face in his hands and pressed a kiss to your forehead. "This is amazing, baby!" He said.
You looked up at him with a watery smile. "You think we're ready?"
He nodded. "I think we're more than ready."
The months passed quickly, quicker than you expected. Pregnancy wasn't easy, but the ninja all helped you out when you needed it.
You went into labor one early morning in September. Lloyd was quick to take you to the hospital, where you labored for thirteen long hours. He barely left your side the entire time.
The baby was born a healthy seven pounds eight and a half ounces, with little tufts of blonde hair and blue-green eyes like his father. He had your nose and your smile. You named him Simon.
The weeks following were a bit rough. It took you and Lloyd a bit to get used to the baby's routine, but it a hurdle any new parents eventually learn to jump.
Simon was a a fairly easy baby, he went down for naps easily and wasn't terribly fussy.
It was a rainy autumn morning when you woke to the sounds of the baby squirming in his bassinet beside you. He would soon start to cry if he wasn't tended to.
So you sat up with a groan, and leaned over to where the bassinet sat next to your bed. Simon squirmed and kicked until you picked him up, blue eyes staring up at you.
"Hello, my love," You murmured to him, voice still thick with sleep. He smiled up at you as you undid his sleep sack.
You picked him up and kissed at his cheek, prompting a giggle from him.
"Are you hungry?" You murmured to him, already undoing your nightgown to feed him.
He settled against you quickly, becoming relaxed in your arms. He had a tremendously large appetite, as any newborn did.
As he ate, you realized that Lloyd was no longer next to you in bed. It was a Saturday, and neither of you had anywhere to be. It was a bit odd to see him already up on the weekend, he usually liked to sleep in.
But as you fed Simon, the door to your bedroom opened. You looked up to see Lloyd carrying in a little plate of food.
He smiled a little sheepishly as he caught your eye. "Room service?"
You let out a little laugh, even though your eyes were tired and you head was beginning to ache. He was such a sappy guy sometimes. He came to sit next to you on the side of the bed.
He had made some eggs and pancakes, and piled a couple on a plate for you. Seeing that your hands were occupied with the baby, he began cutting the pancakes with a fork and feeding it to you without question.
It was simple things like that that made you appreciate Lloyd all the more. He was the green ninja, the savior of Ninjago, the chosen one, and yet he was feeding you pancakes at 7:23am on a Saturday.
