Y'know, now that it’s been vaguely confirmed that Gabriel will be keeping Lila around until the foreseeable future, I think it’s time I discuss my hc about that
And by that I mean HOW MARINETTE’S AND LILA’S RELATIONSHIP COULD EVOLVE!!!
I always believed that another way Lila could be a rival to Marinette is by being but in the same competitive work environment (Whoo let’s go ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ)
Like they both want to work a@ Gabriel
marinette’s reason r obviously bc she wants to be a fashion designer and interning/working there is a great way to kickstart her career (she is juggling this with college as well)
Lila’s reasons for working there a purely selfish and personal. She wants to work there bc it would bother marinette and bc she has an easy in by already knowing gabriel (idk if shes going to college or if shes just freeloading off of gabriel…)
Lila ofc lords the fact that she is close to their boss over marinette’s head at any given time
Whenever gabriel praises marinette and lila is around,Pettinette looks lila in the eyes and gives her a smug look
That being said, their positions in the company are not equal at all.
Marinette works to design and make haute couture for Gabriel bc she actually has the creative bone
Gabriel has high hopes for her and even tho she plans on making her own label, this doesn’t stop him from trying to keep her in the company
(Lila hates it when he sings her praises so she tries to badmouth her but Gabriel knows what shes like so…)
Lila on the other hand is an assistant bc Gabriel wants her close so he can keep an eye on her/ keep her close and bc she has an eye for planning things out
(Obviously at this point she knows hes HM and shes already planning a coup)
Lila actually Nathalie’s assistant but even still that gives her dominion over most of the employees, especially interns like marinette bc she gets to help plan their schedules and stuff
And so the first 2 years or less or whatever, lila does what she can to put marinette as a gofer and as a labor worker instead of rotating the work between all the interns
Lila does what she can to marinette into the ground but marinette has a great support system so she always gets back up
Lila cant help but find her tenacity to be admirable but hella tedious
(Being a super hero/college student/ intern is hard but she powers through by sheer iron clad will and spite)
But eventually she gets her big break and gets to move up
(lila takes her eyes off her for one sec and marinette is catching gabriel’s critical eye etc)
Marinette hates lila for backtracking her career plan for so long but she can reluctantly admit that shes good at planning so far ahead (but she is more than grateful that shes keeping her on her toes)
From there its smooth sailing for her and lila cant to much about it bc OFC ADRIEN SUPPORTS HER AND TRIES TO HELP (fuck yeah, post reveal, pre relationship dynamics!)
Oh yeah adrien is here … around …but hes not that big of a distraction bc he only model for big events
Otherwise hes focusing on his studies…whatever they may be
Also Gabriel doesnt want lila to be around him bc, again, he knows what she’s like
And although he loves it for his evil scheming, he doesn’t want it in the family lol, so if he can, he’ll keep the both busy and away from each other
This doesnt stop lila sometimes tho, yall know how it is….smh
Eventually lila takes over as HM, yadda yadda yadda… and the rest is up in the air
TL;DR: Lila and Marinette have a work environment rivalry but we all know Mari is actually winning bc Lila is only there bc of nepotism
Yall can add more idk but I just think this is more interesting than having their interactions be “Adrien-centered” like this adds depth to their relationship
This way, when mari complains about lila it cant be dismissed with “you’re just jealous ” or “do you have proof” bc really all the proof they need is marinette’s sore feet and eye bags.
