BELLESPIRITS - did i mistake you for a sign from god?

“ Be still, don't move. ” for robin from mona 4 word prompts / @narrativestutter
His eyes close and he leans slightly into her touch, an extreme contradiction to the way he pouts and the slightly annoyed tone of his voice “it’s just a cut, it’s not even that bad” He opens one eye, trying to asses the damage his words have done and trying to figure out if they were believable enough. And he knows they will probably do little to calm her down, so he goes for the next best thing, deflect. “Plus—“ a sigh, that’s meant to help him ignore a bit of the pain. “I’ve had way worse, and you know that—”
Of course, ‘way worse’ means having to be taken to the hospital where Eli had to patch him down, and give him a blood transfusion, but he’s willing to ignore that detail. So he keeps his eyes closed, and he does his best to even his breath as he tries to ignore the pain.“Mona—“ This time the voice is softer, almost a whisper “it’s fine, I’m gonna take a nap though.”
“ I tried but failed. ” for alork from chuck 4 word prompts / @narrativestutter
There’s a series of emotions rapidly showing up on his features, first it was horror, then came the concern, and finally a painfully awkward smile. The image of both Sark and Dayta screaming at the sight of this food (if in can be called that) is all he can think about for the first two minutes, sure he isn’t exactly the best at cooking, but he’s hanged around enough people that are. His two siblings being the best examples, so this is shocking to say the least.
But then his eyes land back on Chuck and they soften along with his smile. “I mean—“ A soft laugh, as he makes the mistake of looking at the food once more, eyes growing wide for a second time. “I— You know how sometimes food looks bad but it actually tastes good? I’m sure this is the same case—“ His eyes focus once more on Chuck, silently pleading. “Right?— Right?”
"Did you make this?" Sissel to Star? 4 word prompts / @madeh0rror
Big blue eyes opened wide, a wild smirk spreading slowly through her features as she laid her eyes on the cookies and then back on the other. A squeal leaves her lips right before a series of “Yeah, yeah” as she shakes her head animately. Truth be told, she’s proud of them, she’s proud of anything she manages to do. However, she perhaps should be a little less proud of this batch, considering they are in fact slightly burned, and as Beck said, they do not taste that good, doesn’t make her less proud of them though.
And after a second, the rambling starts. “I found the recipe online, but I didn’t really had all the ingredients, so I had to make some changes and my friends said they weren’t that good, or well not all my friends, just Beck, but that’s cause the rest of them are very polite and I’m sure they didn’t want to hurt my feelings. But I don’t care if they aren’t that good, it’s the first time I make them so I’m sure I can do better next time—“ there’s a smile as she attempt to catch her breath, “Anyways, sorry if they aren’t good.”
PRIDE & PREJUDICE PROMPTS * assorted dialogue from the 2005 film
you must know... surely, you must know it was all for you.
are you out of your senses?
we've been nonsensical!
i have struggled in vain and i can bear it no longer.
are you rejecting me?
did i just agree to dance?
makes it all so much more enjoyable, don't you think?
you really do love him, don't you?
i appreciate the struggle you have been through, and i am very sorry to have caused you pain.
you're wasting your time with me.
count your blessings.
don't look at me like that!
only the deepest love will persuade me into matrimony.
i'm very fond of walking.
no, i prefer to be unsociable and taciturn.
may i have the next dance?
these past few months have been a torment.
i wonder who first discovered the power of poetry in driving away love?
my brother gave it to me.
i have never been thus treated in my entire life.
do you talk, as a rule, while dancing?
so this is your opinion of me.
i had to see you.
it's been many years since i had such an exemplary vegetable.
oh, believe me, no one would suspect your manners to be rehearsed.
i've been so blind.
i've come to tell you the news.
oh, very well then.
i must ask you to leave immediately.
you have insulted me in every possible way.
not all of us can afford to be romantic.
i could not have parted with you to anyone less worthy.
i will never see you again if you do.
he looks miserable, poor soul.
yes. a thousand times yes.
i will not and certainly never shall.
i thought that poetry was the food of love.
you are too generous to trifle with me.
all of these things i am willing to put aside and ask you to end my agony.
there's a lot to be thankful for.
don't you dare judge me.
i don't understand.
thank you for explaining so fully.
now tell me once and for all: are you engaged to him?
if your feelings are still what they were last april, tell me so at once.
have you no objection other than your belief in my indifference?
believe me, it was unconsciously done.
what a shame, for i dearly love to laugh.
and those are the words of a gentleman.
my affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever.
you have bewitched me, body and soul, and i love... i love... i love you.
i love you.
i cannot tease you about that.
forgive me for taking up so much of your time.
how are you this evening, dear?
is this your reply?
they are far too easy to judge.
i do not have the talent of conversing easily with people i have never met before.
i thought you hated the man.
will that make you happy?
we're doing our best to find a fault in you.
i never wish to be parted from you from this day on.
i wish you would not call me "my dear."
perhaps you should take your aunt's advice and practice?
what endearments am i allowed?
please, do be seated.
one of these days, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue.
people do not die of colds.
i was wrong. i was entirely wrong.
are you too proud? and would you consider pride a fault or a virtue?
this is a charming house.
i am well acquainted with you.
please do me the honor of accepting my hand.
what do you recommend to encourage affection?
what should i call you when i am cross?
are you... are you laughing at me?
i can admire you much better from here.
shall i call for some tea?
i cannot believe that anyone can deserve you.
i love you. most ardently.
good day. it's been a pleasure.
i have no idea.
did you walk here?
let us take a turn about the room.
it is a small kind of accomplishment, i suppose.
will you not join us?
i've never seen so many pretty girls in my life.
she is the most beautiful creature i have ever beheld.
why do you ask such a question?
what have you discovered?
we are all fools in love.
i have other reasons. you know i have.
i do not deny it.
𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋, 𝐊𝐔𝐃𝐎𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐌 — for a second the noise stops. or rather, for a second she doesn’t hear it : fixated on his words, the way he makes them come alive — the way she almost believes him. she is still there, of course. peering from the back of her mind like a curious child making his way through a crowd of onlookers. she’s enraptured too — and though the instinct to shove her back and lock her up inside the place nobody else can reach is vivid, for a second cassie forgets herself. she stares, she listens, and she smiles. ❝ you talk a lot ❞, she says, her voice about as low as whispers — a lot is anything more than what she does, which is close to nothing, really. but she’s amused. doesn’t quite believe him — perhaps she just can’t. sure is a nice idea to entertain, though. cassie laughs, then lowers her head, almost embarrassed. ❝ sure… maybe you’re right. ❞ then her eyes shoot up again: her curiosity kicks in, though maybe not just that. she is curious, too. ❝ so you don’t feel responsible for it ? ❞
By the way his head tilts, and the look of surprise that takes over him, one would think he has never been told that, when in fact people are constantly asking him to shut up. however, and as per usual, he takes it with humor, a smile curves on his lips and he nods “ yeah i do— even to myself to be honest.” it’s like he has never heard about thinking before speaking. xander’s eyes are set on her, noticing the laugh and lowering of the head, and mimicking her instinctively. it’s really her next question what makes him look back at her, head tilted. “ no– ” it’s a quick response, but not exactly a true one. “ i used to, a lot. because what’s the use of this, if i can’t help people, right? and the other half, well—” a pause, as he looks away in an attempt to control the slight sign of anger that was trying to creep into the surface.
“ i mostly blamed my grandpa—” he looks back at her, his voice going back to a more cheerful tone “ i even had an hour long screaming rant with him— and then he died. i mean, not right there. but a few months later. ”

𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒, quotes his last words back to him in a mocking, whiny tone — she’s acting like a child, and that should be enough reassurance for him, that she’s okay. in spite of her furrowed eyebrows, the storm that seems to be going on somewhere deep within her —— he cares, and she knows, and for that she is grateful. enough to meet his gaze, for a second, and maybe flash half a smile. faint, but it breaks through the clouds nonetheless. ❝ pass me that ? ❞, she asks, pointing at a roll of gauze sitting on the coffee table next to him. it’s unusual, still : to have him so close in a moment as intimate to herself as that of defeat. where she licks her wounds and takes in the taste of failure, far too familiar for her to be looking for any reassurance, really. but he knows that taste too, and the sourness it brings, and so it’s a little easier to let him stick around — robin sighs, leans down to let her back rest against the couch. her wounded leg stretched over the chair, tired of commiserating. ❝ i’m sorry ❞, she says first, eyes fixed upwards to the ceiling before she turns her head and faces him now, honest. ❝ i’m being a dick, i know — it’s just been a long fucking night. ❞
they have their very own way of communicating, so the second the mocking starts, he is able to relax. flashing a soft smile back at her, victor nods as he hands her the gauze. once again his eyes focus on the wound, his head wandering off to the moment of the injury, a deep breath is what brings him back to the present as he has to force his mind to remember that she’s safe. if anyone would have told him years ago that he would be here, working alongside her and caring for her safety, he would assume they were lying. and yet, here he was. he nods “ i know— don’t worry about it. do you want a drink? or maybe two? ”
“there’s something wrong with me.” cassandra @ xander! random dialogue / @ripely-pines
he attempts to flash a sympathetic smile, that’s a feeling he knows perhaps a little too well. it’s a feeling that digs and cuts, and finds its home in the deepest, darkest place in your heart and then begins to spread like wildfire. he tries not to linger on the thought too much, letting them win had a tendency of making things go bad very quickly, and xander wondered if it was the same for her. so he turns towards the safest option: denial, distraction. “ to be fair, there’s something a little wrong with everyone. ” a shrug, as he hands her a glass of water. “ is there’s something wronger here?---” he gestures at both of them. “ perhaps, maybe— but it’s not like it’s your fault. life’s just shitty sometimes. ”
“i know you’re new, but we do things a little differently here.” rob @ allison random dialogue / @ripely-pines
the words took her by surprise, and it’s clear by the way her entire body tensed up and she lowered the gun in her hands. gun she had been strictly told not to take. it was weird, how much she felt that she needed the validation, to be told she was doing a good job, that she was a good hunter. but it wasn’t something she was going to get from robin, or at least she wasn’t expecting it to. and yet, she couldn’t help the feeling of emptiness that hit her gut. allison’s eyes landed on robin, biting the inside of her cheek as to try and keep her emotions at bay. “ so— how do you do it then? ” there’s a bit of sharpness in her words, better to seem angry than hurt.
“are you in the witness protection program, or what?” @isabel random dialogue / @analyticallyminded
the whisk stops moving, and here eyes are glued to the kitchen wall for a few seconds before they turn and set on jemma, filled with confusion. her brain is really doing it’s best to try and wrap itself around the question, she blinks a couple of times before a light smile makes its way to her lips. “ what?! ” a laugh, one that echoes through the kitchen, a very genuine one. “ you can’t just ask that, what if i was? i would need to be relocated. ” her attention turns back to the mixing bowl, she’s completely focused but a smile curls back on her lips. “ what made you think that? i’m not that mysterious. ”

“How have you survived for so long?” / @ robin fr. victor ! — @apophenia. re : random questions , accepting.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄, razor sharp, not learned but coded within her dna: to bite back, put a distance in between them ‘cause people like him are trained weapons, and she never liked the feeling of a shotgun aimed at her back. still, she knows victor is not the enemy — not the shotgun nor the knife, and anyway she should know better than see the world in black and white. he, for sure, belongs to the lingering shadows that are neither one nor the other. so she relaxes. takes a deep breath, forgets about the target on her back, and continues medicating the thick gash below her knee. ❝ mostly out of spite ❞, she retorts, playful grin punctuating her words before disinfectant gets in her wound and turns it to a pained grimace. this’ll scar pretty nicely, she thinks, and even her thoughts come laced with poisonous sarcasm — she never had much of a patience for sutures, at best this will look like a jagged, uneven line of gross surgical negligence. he is gonna have a comment for that too, surely. robin sighs. raises her gaze towards him, and almost looks apologetic for a second. ❝ i know that was stupid — you don’t have to say it. ❞ eyes return to the wound, as she mutters: ❝ quit judging me so loud, you’re gonna give me a headache. ❞
it takes him a few seconds to relax, to realize that the words had come out much harsher than he had initially intended it to. it was a force of habit, just the way they had always interacted, it’s not that he meant to be rude to her, at least not now. especially not in a moment like this, but sometimes he just couldn’t help it. his features softened, and a small attempt of a smile appeared on his lips. if he had to focus on the good things, he was simply glad that she was okay. “ i didn’t said it was stupid— ” his voice was much calmer this time, as he leaned over trying to take a look at the wound. “ i’m also not saying it wasn’t, but you do need to be more careful, or a little bit more spiteful. ” victor goes quiet for a few seconds, his eyes focused on her wound before finally settling back on her. “ good. because you already gave me one. ”
