Donald Trump is Actually the Presumptive Republican Candidate?

I have to wonder how this actually happened. When he announced his campaign, like everyone else, I thought it was a joke. A publicity stunt. A way to build up excitement for some new business venture. And maybe it did start off that way. But somewhere along the line, the xenophobic, hate-mongering, white supremacist starting winning people over. Yes, most of his supporters fall into categories of under educated and are poorer Americans. But it's been enough. It's been enough that there are no longer any candidates remaining. Donald Trump has won half the battle. So what does this mean? It means that we Democrats have to do whatever we can to ensure Donald does not win the election. As much as I despise Hillary Clinton, she will more than likely be the Democratic candidate. This being the case, we have to unite around her and ensure her victory. Is she a wolf in sheep's clothing? Yes. Is she a closet Republican? Probably. But like Bernie reminded us all, even on her worst day, she is better than Trump. We must defeat Trump.

Indiana!

Way to go, Indiana! You made a great decision last night in voting for Bernie.

Last night’s victory will go a long way in helping Bernie run the campaign to the end. Though admittedly, the only way to the White House through the Democratic party is going to be by convincing super-delegates in large numbers to come to Sanders.

This is unlikely because he has been vocal in demonizing establishment policies including super-delegates. Regardless, this is worthy of celebration!

Voted and Voter Fraud?

As a recent transplant in Pennsylvania (born in NY, raised in NJ), voting in Tuesday's primary was my first time voting in PA. It was... strange. First off, I was greeted by Ted Cruz supporters right in front of the door. Apparently, PA law allows campaigners to stand 10 feet from the door. I said to myself that the only thing I had in common with a Ted Cruz supporter was that we both endorsed a candidate who will (unfortunately in the case of Bernie) not win. Once inside, I was asked to show ID. Never before I had been asked for ID while voting. I complied and was given a blue chip with a D on it presumably to show that I am a registered Democrat. Republicans were similarly given red chips with an R. I proceeded to vote in the closed primary and left. The entire process of inserting a smart card into a voting machine left me wondering if my vote would even be counted or if the polling volunteers could manipulate the machine. In NJ, I had never witnessed this process. It felt foreign and different. Anyway, Bernie did not win. Perhaps it is time we start facing the reality that Hillary will be the candidate. If Bernie were to run as an Independent, it would only aid the Donald in securing a win but I am skeptical of voting for Hillary. She is a wolf in sheep's clothing and a closet Republican who has only become "liberally to try and stir up support start seeing how successful Bernie is.

Reality Setting In?

But as Bernie reassured, this is not an exit nor was losing New York the nail in the coffin to his campaign. At the very least, Bernie has stirred up support with the young generation; a task that has been difficult for all candidates. Is it reassuring to know that Sanders is committed to running his campaign through the end but this is bittersweet as now we must start acknowledging a victory is not necessarily in the cards. Maybe there's a chance of a Clinton/Sanders ticket? While I understand both Democratic candidates are fighting the good fight to prevent a Trump presidency, a Clinton presidency scares me as she is riddled with scandal, is not likable, and has lied time and time again. Not to mention that she only recently became liberal when she saw the success of Sanders' campaign. Regardless, any Democrat is better than any Republican.

Lost New York but We’re Not Out

Bernie may not have won in New York but the race is certainly not over. When superdelegates are left out of the equation, Bernie is down just 275 delegates. This is a relatively small amount to be behind this late in the race. 

The hope here is that we can go into the convention without a sure-fire nomination. At a contested convention, Bernie can still win this thing! He is, after all, the best bet to beating Trump or Cruz. 

What is perhaps most upsetting about the entire situation is that Bernie could be leading the race had the primaries not begun in the south. It is infuriating that the primaries begin in the south for the Democrats. After all, Hillary won these states but will NEVER carry them in a national election as these are states that always go Republican.

Delegate Counts are Misleading

The once seemingly insurmountable lead that Hillary Clinton once held is down to less than 200. With over 1600 delegates to go, Hillary is in real trouble. The revolution may not be televised but sure will be on social media! Bernie drew over 20,000 (by some counts over 40,000) people go Washington Square Park for his rally. His momentum is soaring and Hillary is SCARED. As some have said, Hillary is facing another 2008 where she lost to Obama after being declared the favorite for many months.

Quick Update

Just a quick update to say that Bernie won Wyoming! That marks 8 wins out of the last 9 primaries. And although he and Hillary split the delegates, the lead does not grow and it gives Bernie the needed media attention and the momentum to keep going. Hip hip hooray for Bernie!

Bernie Coming Back to New York

As the Democratic candidates set their sights on New York, Bernie and Hillary both have A LOT at stake. If Hillary can win in her own state (she was a junior senator from New York), she may finally seal the deal against Bernie. However, if Bernie (a native New Yorker who moved to Vermont as an adult) can secure a win as he has in his last six of seven primaries, it will be the nail in Hillary's coffin. A Sanders win in New York proves his electability, puts his pledged count OVER Clinton's and all but forces the pledged super delegates to change their vote to match the will of the masses. The New York primary is on Tuesday, April 19. This could be the pivotal moment of the campaign. Unfortunately, last report showed Sanders behind Clinton 14 points but that is insignificant. The same was true for Michigan and Sanders pulled out a win. Additionally, spokespeople for the Sanders campaign have announced they plan to spend big bucks on advertising in New York - and they need to. Let's do this, Bernie!

Bernie Takes Washington and Alaska!

It’s official. Bernie has won Washington (state) and Alaska in the primaries. This is a hugely critical win that can give momentum to the campaign as the primaries shift back east to the midwest and the northeast.

“The string of victories and favorable states for Mr. Sanders can, however, serve an important purpose in keeping his campaign viable, with his newly emboldened supporters continuing to donate online and Mr. Sanders drawing huge crowds like the more than 15,000 people who came out to hear him speak in Seattle on Friday.”

The media wants to have a blackout - they want Bernie to appear D.O.A before the convention; but it won’t happen. Sanders’ rallies have been reporting huge numbers of supporters. So while Hillary may have more pledged delegates; a brokered convention (so long as the winning streaks continue) can mean big things for the Sanders campaign.

We can do it, people! Don’t let corporate media owned by Hillary SuperPACs hide the truth.

Down but Not Out

Bernie has done surprisingly well; better than he was ever anticipated to perform thus far in the primaries. However, anyone not living under the proverbial rock has heard mainstream media already announce Hillary as the Democratic nominee. This is simply untrue.

I will post an info graph shows just how close the election is and how important it is for Bernie supporters to show up in NUMBERS!

Bernie is not only the most consistent candidate, he is the best bet for beating the Republicans (especially Hitler…Trump). The point? DON’T RULE BERNIE OUT! The establishment doesn’t want him anywhere near the White House because he represents everything they have fought against for decades. If this were Canada, Bernie wouldn’t be a “socialist”, he’d just be a “Canadian”. It’s time we wake up, America.
