benji had spent the better half of his day off sitting alone at a booth for two at sunny side up, waiting on a date that never showed. he sighed, turning to the nearest person, “my tinder date stood me up, i think. he was supposed to be here two hours ago- and he’s leaving me on read when i text him” he pouted, “-do you wanna join me? y-you don’t have to, i was just wondering,..”

benji grew up the youngest child with two brothers, his aunt and his parents in a small tourist town on the coast of maine. his mother and aunt ran the pier's boathouse and his father was a full-time sailor/fisherman. 

he wasn’t the smartest like his older brother, who is currently graduating med school, nor was he the most athletically gifted like his quarterback younger brother. benji did share his father’s love for the sea. 

as a little kid, benji fell in love with jimmy buffett’s music. he wanted to be just like him. so he learned the guitar. his love for jimmy buffett spread to love for country music in general. 

benji’s aunt got suddenly ill, so he ended up going to his local community college in order to help his mother with the shop. he didn’t mind all too much. she recently got better, and as a family they all sent benji away to start his music career they all knew he could do.

so!! he went south of the mason dixon and never looked back to the frigid blueberry state. 

sweet benji is so sweet. he is a puppy personified. he is very impulsive and overactive but he’s SUCH a love. y’cant be mad at him for too long.

he is bisexual. he has only been with guys, but only hook-ups. he’s never been on a date because he thinks he is too awkward. 

he falls for everyone he sees. if someone smiles at him….he’ll never be over it. 

loves picnics. loves his guitar. loves his pitbull puppy, stark.

he’s the biggest nerd in the world. comic addict. potterhead. loves ! cartoons !

Derek felt out of place at the street fair. It wasn’t that he couldn’t handle crowds, because he could. Crowded parties and busy nightclubs were basically his jam, but a pride weekend? Not so much. It helped that pretty much everyone in town was a stranger to him, but not much. Running a hand through his hair, the brunette looks around, nodding towards one of the vendors nearby. “I need a drink. You  in?”

sure, benji was supposed to be at the shazam comic booth, but...there wasn’t anything there that anyone could steal other than the cardboard cutout ‘photo op’ of harley quinn and poison ivy....and benji just didn’t think it would be stolen. so, when derek offered to include benji in on a drink, the boy in the robin costume quickly jumped at the opportunity. “uh-- yeah. i’m super down.” the male spoke, trying to act impartially.

“Something tells me I shouldn’t have worn a black jacket when I knew I’d be performing today, I think I forget it’s the fiery hot summer,” Dustin muttered as he uncoiled the wires on the rack off to the side of the stage. As an engineer, to avoid unwarranted technical difficulties, he had taken some time at the beginning of the summer to wrap the wires of the instruments and gadgets that were to be used into one place, to keep from having too many wires on stage. He figured it would be more efficient to keep everyone from tripping over anything, despite it being taped down. Plus, as they say, less is more. Pulling up the sleeves of his bomber jacket, he looked over at the other. “Hey, if you have any song requests, I’m sure we can squeeze one or two in. We’re not really a cover band but I think we can do a few just for Pride.”

it was almost natural that benji found himself going to where the music was going to be. “well, you can always take it off!” he smirked with a wink, before shaking his head and laughing. benji wouldn’t deny that he had too much to drink already. he was a BIT of a lightweight and a very awkward flirty drunk. “i don’t know if it’s up your alley but, put me down for some jimmy buffett requests-- or the eagles!”

benji had decided since his parents got him a brand new guitar, he’d learn to play something new that was out of his comfort zone every couple of days. today’s mission? i’d rather be me from the mean girls musical. he had moved from his apartment to the basically empty park by his work. he had altered the song to fit his vocal range, because...he’s not barrett wilbert weed. after completing the first actually successful run, benji gazed up, and saw he actually wasn’t ALONE. “i-uh- sorry! was i -- loud?” he questioned, socially paranoid per usual.  “i should write a book called; how to ruin someone’s peaceful park stroll.”

“what would jimmy buffett do?” benji sang out, in the style of it’s five o'clock somewhere. “it’s not half past twelve here, so, i vote margarita.”  benji chuckled. he wasn’t much of a drinker but he was playing music at the bar, so he figured, to talk to the crowd before he went on.

“amish? i wouldn’t say this is amish...i’d love to know what you would think of my hometown back in maine!” he chuckled. “i do a lot of walkin’ with my pup when i’m not working. but, that might just be a me thing.”

“This is still a thing?” He asked, scrolling down on his phone and noticing that the same argument was still going around. “It’s Laurel, there was a whole video about it explaining it. This is giving me a headache.”

“no way! it was not laurel...nor was it yanny.” benji paused, dramatically. “it was saying ‘benji’... duh!” he chuckled at his own joke, before shrugging. “i hear both, actually. talk about headache!”

Liam sat across from one of one of the many people he managed to befriend ever since arriving to Crownsville, a cup of coffee in his hand as he spoke about something that shocked him that day. “My co-worker turned to me today and told me that she decided to not drink coffee for a month because she is in desperate need to clean her soul? What even is that supposed to mean? How can you stop drinking coffee just like that? Does she hate herself? Okay no i am aware that last sentence was mean. She’s actually very nice i just don’t understand. What does coffee have to do with your soul?” he let out a groan, frustrated as he could not understand the whole point of a no-coffee life. Then again Liam hasn’t been able to stop drinking coffee ever since he first tried it out and was sure there was nothing that would make him stop. Not even a clean soul.

“that? is....wild!” benji excaimed. he couldn’t comprehend the ridiculousness that the boy was spewing. “does she even know that coffee has, like, as many vitamins as eating eight tangerines? that’s about two big oranges! or four small ones!” benji sighed. holdng out his coffee mug for a cheers. “here’s to dirty souls, bro.”
