It’s 1986.
For the muggle community, perms are all in, the world is still reeling from Live Aid, Michael Jordan has been named NBA’s “Rookie of the Year” and The Colour Purple has solidified Oprah in our hearts and minds. No one can get that blasted A-ha song out of their heads.
For the wizarding world, however, there is much more important news on the wind: Voldemort is dead.
In a final battle that shook the very foundations of Britain’s magical community, the Dark Lord and the Supreme Mugwump faced off in a ferocious duel that decided the end of a caustic, bloody and pitiless conflict that took many lives over many years. Alice, Frank and Neville Longbottom are dead and the prophecy is, for all intents and purposes, fulfilled.
The Death Eaters have gone into hiding - those that haven’t been rounded up and charged for their war crimes, that is. It seems as though the world has come to a sort of uneasy peace. Children laugh in Diagon Alley once more, panic is no longer a way of life and even the air seems to have lost some of the tension that hung so heavily before. The Ministry are keen to promote the calm that has come with the end of the war, a new Minister for Magic has been elected and there are attempts being made to weed out those who would threaten the precarious tranquility.
But all is not as it seems.
Lots of major canons still open & our Pride and other mini events are ongoing!
