It’s not that horror fans think it’s plausible for certain things to happen. It’s that people that aren’t used to the genre do believe that it’s realistic. I’m not questioning the smart people here.

I think I’ve just dug myself a whole in overthinking the issue. Sorry about that. To answer your initial question, I think people just ignore it because it’s a classic movie that is appreciated, knowing it’s not technically up to par with current technology. For some people, that’s the beauty of it.

I’m going to ignore the fact that you just said ‘actual’ tree times in one sentence. But the movie was released in the 70′s. Back then, that was as real and bloody as it got.

I did it on purpose. I’m not that dumb. I know. But I would still hope that back then people didn’t want to watch people actually get killed by a shark.
