What if… after Stede left Ed at the dock and he came back to the Revenge alone and heartbroken, he still made a blanket fort and asked for Lucius, but the young man noticed that not only Ed needed some therapy so he gathered the crew and they decided that Izzy and Ed were going to “talk it through” one way or another.
So that’s how Izzy ends up tied up to a chair in the captain’s cabin, furious and spitting threats.
The crew totally ignores him, but he isn’t letting Ed explain how he feels with all his yelling and that way the “talking it through” is not going to work so Lucius decides they have to make some adjustments.
So that’s how Izzy ends up tied up to a chair and gagged and glaring daggers at everybody, but hopefully listening when Edward starts talking.
And when it’s Izzy’s turn to speak, under threat of being gagged again if he doesn’t behave, Lucius has to work overtime to translate Izzy’s words for Ed because the little angry man is clearly and painfully incapable of expressing his feelings in a normal way.
“Blackbeard is what keeps us safe, Edward! Nobody dares mess with us because they’re terrified of you! You can’t just quit!”
Lucius “Izzy worries we won’t be safe if Blackbeard disappears.”
“If people think you’ve gone soft, they'll attack us in waves, the British, the Spanish, other pirates! And this crew of morons don’t know how to fight!”
Lucius “We would be in danger and Izzy doesn’t trust our skills as pirates. Harsh, but true.”
“I told you Bonnet was a fucking idiot, what kind of moron would leave you like that! I would never! I promised I would always be by your side!”
Lucius “Izzy was very jealous, but he still loves you very much.”
“WHAT?” Izzy says horrified.
“WHAT?” Edward says bewildered
Lucius sighs. “Roach, can you bring us something to eat. It looks like this is going to take longer than I expected.”
