You thought he was a normal priest when your bestfriend introduced you to him three months ago. He was charismatic, handsome and funny. You liked him right away.
You were in a pretty dark time in your life, you were a prostitute coming off of an alcohol addiction. Gerard had saved you in the little time you knew him. It didn't make sense to you now that you were running away from the commune in the middle of the night..
Gerard had picked you right away, you were to be his final wife. The ceremony was beautiful, white lilies and lace decorated the church and you wore a gorgeous white gown that was hand made specific for you by the elders.
You were the perfect blushing bride. Gracefully walking down the aisle to your future husband who was standing in front of the elders dressed in his off-white gown and pressed black dress pants. He looked stunning, as he always did and you couldn't have been happier. You couldn't have been more blinded.
The first night you were wed, Gerard had carried you the whole way to the 'honeymoon cabin' on the far end of the commune. It was a small cabin that was only meant for couples in the group that had just become married. That is where the first night is always spent.
"My beautiful bride." He'd say, laying you down on the soft bed as he slid the zipper on the side of your dress down.
"Tonight, in the eyes of our lord, we are one." He mutters to you, kissing your forehead and sliding your dress down completely.
"Forever one." You reply back softly as it goes.
Your first night was fine, not much like the clients you had when you were a prostitute. No, Gerard was more gentle as a lover. Nothing fancy position-wise, missionary was good enough for him.
'Fornication is nothing but for reproduction.' He'd say, you didnt really understand that but went along with it because of how much you loved your new husband.
Things went great for about a month or so, morning mass held by Gerard with you sitting next to him in front of the rest of the commune. Afternoons, you held the prayer service, and prepared dinner for the rest of the commune. With nights ending in 'fornication' with Gerard in hopes for 'reproduction'.
One morning, during mass, you felt sick to your stomach. Excusing yourself to the restroom, you knew right away that you were pregnant.
Gerard had called the commune's private doctor, Raymond, to evaluate you.
"Alright, the blood tests came back. Miss Way, you are pregnant." Raymond says happily. "We will need to get an ultrasound to confirm, but blood tests dont lie."
Tears of joy immediately fall from you as well as Gerard. "A new prophet." He mutters, cupping your stomach and kissing it lightly.
The first month was incredible, all of Gerard's followers showered you in love and attention. Giving small gifts and tokens, the children of the group would make you flower crowns and other hand made items while the adults would bring clothes, food and other items for the baby that they've either made or gone to the local shops to buy.
Everything had changed when a new follower had joined the commune, Francis. He was handsome, had tattoos and a few piercings. He was definitely someone you would've dated prior to becoming Gerard's wife.
Gerard had introduced you to Francis, who insisted everyone call Frank instead. He had said he didn't like the formality of 'Francis'.
Frank and Gerard grew closer and in turn, you did as well. When Gerard went off to his recruitment trips along with a few other followers, Frank took care of you.
Feeding you, bathing you and tending to whatever you need. Frank was Gerard's best follower, he said so himself.
One night while Gerard was on a trip, Frank was drawing a bath for you and helping you inside the tub. "You know, you dont need to live like this." He says as he lowers you in.
"What do you mean?" You question to him, shocked.
"I know he hurts you, I can see the bruises." Frank mutters to you, gently brushing his hand over the freshly bruises lining your arm.
"I- I was careless, Frank. I shouldn't have spilled the can of tomatoes while making dinner." You say hiding your arm from his view.
Frank frowns at your admission. "Run away with me." He says in a hushed tone, just barely above a whisper. "We'll get you the care you need. For the baby." He urges.
"Frank, no. I'm pregnant with the prophet." You try to defend.
Frank shakes his head. "You really think that? You may be pregnant with his baby but please, open your eyes. You've been brainwashed."
It took a few nights of Frank trying to convince you of this, but the night that Gerard hurt you to the point where you needed to see Raymond in his office, that was the night you knew you needed out.
Frank took care of most of the work, waiting until Gerard was on one of the overnight trips. He comes to your bedroom to wake you up. "We gotta go, now." He says pulling you up to your feet and handing you a bag with a few supplies inside.
"You aren't coming with me?" You ask him as he looks out the window to make sure you have a clear path to run.
"Not yet, I'll catch up once I know you're safe. Theres a phone in the bag, call me when you get to the safe house. Now go!" He points to a clearing in the woods and you take off running.
Finally making it to the safe house after what felt like hours of running, you step inside the abandoned house. Collapsing on the dusty couch, you pull out the phone that Frank put in the bag and go to the contacts to find a number added under 'Frank'.
You dial the number and press call, he picks up immediately. "Frank?" You whisper into the phone.
"Good, I'm on my way. Stay put." He says then hangs up, leaving you silent in the safe house.
You wait about an hour and Frank arrives in a car, you arent too sure where he got the car since nobody in the commune drove or owned a car besides Gerard, but you dont ask questions.
You go outside to get in the car and Frank drives off once you're inside. "Where are we going to go?" You ask, looking out the window at the trees passing by.
"To my old house, where I lived before I joined the cult." He says focusing on the road.
"Cult?" You whisper mainly to yourself and Frank rests a reassuring hand on your knee.
Your life moves on, as well as your pregnancy. Frank has been wonderful taking care of you and keeping you safe. You haven't seen or heard from Gerard since you left that night. Its been about a month since you escaped but the guilt has been eating you alive.
You knew the relationship with Gerard was toxic. You knew he was insane, a cult leader, how could you fall so deeply for a cult leader?
You also knew it was a terrible idea to accept the flyer from one of Gerard's followers recruiting at the grocery store. Finding the number to call, you dial it on the phone Frank gave you back when you first escaped.
The line rings a few times before it opens.
"Gerard?" You say softly into the phone.
"Wife.. how good it is to hear from you again. Ready to come home?"
Not a requested fic but i need more Gerard, my fics are full of Frank (wish I could say the same thing about myself) anyway, Gerard deserves more love, so, here is a shy Bullets!Gerard coffee shop customer x reader <3
There was a man who frequented your coffee shop, you've never been able to get his name but he was there at least once a day. Usually in the morning when you first opened. He would order a black coffee with two sugars, but on Fridays he would also order a blueberry muffin.
It was a little stalker-ish that you have his order down pat but he was like clockwork so it was hard not to know his order by heart. It was to the point that he didnt even need to say his order, you would already be pouring his coffee and getting the sugars ready by the time he was walking in the door.
You'd greet him with a friendly smile to which he'd give a small nod in response. It's been that way for about a year now, the man really seems to be a creature of habit. Always carrying a sketchbook and colored pencil set in his messenger bag, he sat in the same seat by the window under one of the overhead lights. You would ask him if he wanted anything else as he sat and sketched, to which he would deny anything further. He would pay his bill and always made sure to leave a $15 tip.
The first day the man didnt show up in a year worried you. The second day he didnt show up actually scared you. And by the third day you were ready to send out a search party for the man. Unfortunately, you had nothing to go off of except his coffee order.
A few more days pass and you are noticeably dragging. A few of your employees begin to notice the funk you seem to be in lately.
"Hey, everything alright?" Your cashier, Ray asks.
"Oh, yeah im good.. oh, hey have you seen that one regular lately? Dark black spikey hair, kinda reclusive?" You ask half hopeful, knowing thats a pretty vague description.
"Oh, Gerard?" Ray asks with his head tilted. "Yeah, I see him all the time. We're roommates."
Your ears prick up at this. "Roommates?" You look to your cashier in shock. "I didnt know that."
Ray nods, tieing up his hair and getting ready for his shift. "Yeah, Gee is kinda a hermit. I normally bring him in when I work because he goes to college down the street from here. His classes got switched though, so he hasn't had time to work out a schedule to come in yet."
You nod along listening to Ray's explanation. He looks at you with a thoughtful expression. "You know, he's not very good with talking to people. I could introduce you two."
"Oh, uh, do you think he would want that? I mean he barely speaks to me when he comes in." You say absently rolling a pen on the counter.
Ray nods. "He doesn't shut up about you. He's really bummed about his classes switching because he cant see ya."
"Really?" You ask, stopping the pen on the counter. You were completely clueless of the crush Gerard has on you.
"Yeah, here, I'll text him and have him stop by after class." Ray says and pulls out his phone to text his roommate.
You nod and try to carry on with your shift. Unable to stop thinking about what you'll say, or what he will say - if anything at all.
The lunch rush dies down and you are wiping down a few tables when you hear the door chime ring.
"Be with you in a sec!" You call as a man enters and walks directly to the counter.
You finish up cleaning the table and walk over to the counter. "Oh! Hello, long time no see!" You smile to the man you now know as Gerard.
"Want your usual?" You ask as you go to the coffee maker.
"N-no, actually." He says quietly, his voice coming out rougher than he expected.
You turn back to face him, surprised. "Oh, what can I get you then?"
He shakes his head. "I um.. just came to see Ray. Is he here?"
You nod. "Of course, let me go get him for you." You say with a smile and go to the back where Ray is taking his break.
"Ray, Gerard is here. Said he's here to see you."
Ray sighs and shakes his head. "I told him to talk to you."
You shrug. "I mean, he kind of did."
Ray nods then and stands up. "Alright, let me see what I can do."
Ray goes out to the front where Gerard is awkwardly messing with a strap on his bag.
"Dude! I told you to talk to her." He says to Gerard as he walks up.
"I know! ..I know. I just cant though." Gerard says, lowering his head. "I don't even know what to say to her."
Ray sighs and rubs his hands over his face. "Alright, maybe start by asking her out for a drink? Out to a bar or something?"
Gerard nods. "Okay, yeah!" He smiles, pausing to think. "But what if she says no?"
Ray shakes his head, already walking back to switch you spots. He tags you in and smiles to you. "Go easy on em, he's nervous."
You walk out, back into the main part of the shop where you see Gerard standing awkwardly in front of the counter. "Hey." You greet with a smile.
"Um.. h-hi." He says looking at the floor.
You lean against the counter in front of him. "Don't be nervous, I don't bite." You try to joke but it comes out entirely too seductive which only flusters Gerard even further, his face flushing a bright pink against his pale skin.
"O-okay, um.. I wanted to uh see if you maybe um.. im sorry.." he trails off.
"Take your time, you're okay." You reassure him with a softer tone this time.
Gerard takes a deep breath. "I wanted to see if you maybe wanted to get a drink with me sometime." He blurts out, taking another breath only to add a quiet "I-if you want to.. its okay if not."
You smile as he finishes. "Are you asking me out on a date?"
"Please dont make me say it again." He mutters, shrinking within himself and ready to crawl into a hole out of sheer embarrassment.
"Gerard I would love to go get drinks, are you free tonight?"
Gerard looks up at you. "Tonight?"
You nod, pulling out a piece of receipt paper and writing your number down. "Mhm.. I get off work at 5, if that works?" You hand him the paper and he looks down at it in his hands like its the most precious piece of paper in the world.
"Uh.. yeah, yes. Tonight works fine. T-thank you!" He smiles genuinely surprised that you agreed to go out with him.
You laugh softly. "You dont need to thank me silly, want to meet at Jenny's? Across the street?"
Gerard nods. "Yeah, that sounds good. I'll meet you there."
"Alright, see you tonight then Gerard." You smile to him as he begins to leave the shop.
"S-see you!" He calls from the door, eager to get home and get ready for the date.
As soon as Gerard is out of the shop, Ray peeks his head out. "Is he gone? Did he ask you?"
You turn to him with a laugh. "That was the most he has ever spoken to me since I've met him. He's such a sweetheart."
Ray nods, stepping out fully. "He really is a good guy, he's just so damn shy."
You shake your head, looking out the window to watch Gerard leave. "It's cute though, I've never had a guy be so nervous to ask me out."
Ray watches the expression on your face as your eyes follow his bestfriend and roommate. "You're my boss so I say this with respect, but just to let you know, if you hurt him.."
You wave your hand, already having zero intentions on hurting him. "Of course, Ray."
Ray nods once. "He really is too sweet for this world. He has been hurt before and I just don't want to see it happen again."
"It's sweet how you look out for him, he is lucky to have a friend like you Ray." You turn to him and smile at his protective nature.
Around 4, Ray tells you that he can close so you can go get ready for your date with Gerard. The shop gets pretty dead after 3 and Ray has been your closer for a while now so you trust him to lock everything up.
"Alright, call me if anything happens and I will come back, okay?" You say grabbing your purse and keys.
"I'll be fine, go have fun!" Ray chirps from the counter, waving you off.
You get back to your apartment to shower and get ready, the bar is a pretty casual spot so you decide on a band tee and shorts. You fix your hair into soft waves, throw on your shoes and head out to the bar to meet Gerard.
Meanwhile, Gerard has been at the bar for about an hour or so trying to calm his nerves. He has made friends with the bartender, who he has told all about you.
"She's so beautiful, wait until you see her." He says as he nurses his drink, just a rum and coke as he doesn't want to be too drunk for when you show up.
"I'm so nervous to talk to her, she's so nice too and she always smells like coffee and cinnamon gum." You overhear Gerard telling the bartender. "Should I have gotten her flowers? Or something?" You hear him begin to panic as you walk up.
"You could just buy her a drink." You say from behind him, effectively making him jump out of his skin. He turns around with a goofy smile.
"Oh, h-hey." He says softly.
"Hi love, so.. coffee and cinnamon gum, huh?" You ask as you sit down, blowing a bubble on your gum.
"H-how much did you hear?" Gerard asks shyly.
"Only that.. and that I'm nice." You smirk, turning to the bartender. "Can I please have a vodka cran?"
The bartender nods and goes to make your drink. You can feel Gerard staring at the side of your head.
You look to him out of the corner of your eye. "You dont talk much, huh?" You ask and he shakes his head. "I told you Gerard, you dont have to be nervous around me."
He nods. "Sorry.. I get nervous around pretty girls." He mutters.
"You think I'm pretty?" You ask turning to him and he nods as he looks up at you through his lashes.
"Well.. I think you're pretty too Gerard." You respond as your drink is sat down in front of you. You pull out your card to pay but Gerard hurries and hands his card over first. You look over to him with mock offense.
"S-sorry.. I asked you out so.. so I should be the one to get your drinks." He says as he puts the card back in his wallet.
"Hm, well alright. But next time is on me, I'll be sure to ask you out so I can pay." You say watching him fumble with his card.
"Next time?" He asks softly.
You nod, taking a sip of your drink. "Mhm.. if you're good." You say carefully, testing his reaction.
Gerard sits up straight, processing your words and their meaning. He takes a long sip of his drink to try and clear his throat and he nods.
