betraying someone who trusts them deeply is one of the sexiest things a character can do its unparalleled. cause either the relationship is irrevocably changed and said character is completely at fault (guilt complex, hot) or it isnt and then both sides have to deal with the fact that they care about each other enough to overlook the betrayal (unceasing devotion, also hot)

If you mentioned the fact he’s in love with Ed to him he’d be so genuinely confused, and if you asked why he does everything he does for Ed he’d be like “because he’s my captain, obviously”

If you were then to point out that literally no one else does that much for their captain he’d be like “that’s because I’m the only one who does my fucking job” while completely ignoring the fact that all the random stuff he does for Ed are definitely not part of his actual job
