Settle down? Since when has his home become a homeless shelter? Or an alternative asylum for that matter, considering this person didn't seem to quite have it all there-- if he was human. Those serpents on his person pointed elsewhere on the spectrum, matching up with the normal chill that brought goosebumps to his arm from the quiet supernatural whisperings that surrounded him. That would explain the lack of fear in those slits that stared back at him in a taunting dance as the figure allowed more of the cool metal in his hand to settle against their throat.
Hand steady, he pressed it further, caressing the skin with little pressure until it was settled flat diagonal.
A cackle parted his jaws. "Hm? I wasn't informed that I'd finally be getting rid of my other roommate-- wait! I'm not. I'm perfectly fine with just one annoying existence in my presence at a time when I'm at home."
If this being was human, then he was quite fearless. Perhaps this was another Shizuo-esque existence, god forbid. Someone with no rationality, and high levels of strength and resilience... Well, in any case, he doubted it. The profile was all wrong for the moment, but that didn't mean anything. He'd just have to push and see.
If they weren't human, then... This would become even more interesting. His grip on the handle tightened a degree.
The next few moments had Izaya's thoughts circulating at high speeds, sanguine hues darting constantly to follow each movement as conversation fell short; a grin crept along his lips like early morning mist on concrete.
Each twitch that shot across his guests face was like a bullet tearing through the air, feeding his interest by the millisecond. His tongue seared across the backs of his teeth in anticipation.
Knife tucking itself back in his pocket as it was rendered useless, he leaned, cross-armed, upon the island counter, eyes alight, hardly blinking as he drank the final moments of the happening in, hardly hiding his amusement.
"Ah, was it? I doubt that you're going to give in that easily, ne?" Another chuckle, index and middle fingers pressing against his lips. So, naturally, he was right. There was something hiding within this strange being that he had just chanced to happen upon this evening.
Now, normally, when someone breaks into your house, responds not to threats at knifepoint but has what looks like a inner meltdown, and immediately starts apologizing and offering out things like wishes or money, most would be writing them off as druggies and calling the police. That would be the correct thing to do, the smart thing.
The normal, average human thing to do.
Naturally, Izaya responded differently, tone holding a purr of intrigue. "A wish? You can't be some type of genie, right? There's not a lamp I can find, aha! So another type of creature. Hm!" Tapping his chin, toe of his shoe kicking the tile, his head tilted a bit in the process of mocking thought. "A faerie? Maybe. Or perhaps a leprechaun! You look a lot like the ones in children's books!"
Still laughing to himself over his great diss, the actual thoughts inside his perfectly coifed head were upon the subject of a wish in general. What he would wish for... well, that was a list he wasn't interesting in sorting through for just one. No strings attached, right? Then there was nothing stopping him from making all of them, one at a time. Or cheating whatever rules could pop up and getting his way. Either or.
"What's the deadline, then? I'll have to give your offer some consideration before I even think of deciding on one."
