Okay but can we talk about Shane Madej for a second?

Like he’s obviously an atheist but he’s super respectful of other people’s beliefs on Unsolved. Like you know sometimes you get those snarky atheists who’re like “but how do you explain x? checkmate bitch God isn’t real.” Shane hasn’t done that to any of the guests they’ve had, like the priest or the couple of witchy types from the show. And we have a crying need for people of different belief systems (particularly religious belief systems) respecting each other.

Like even with Ryan, he ribs him a lot, but their banter is never malicious. I honestly feel like he approaches Unsolved as less about finding ghosts and demons and proving their existence and more about helping Ryan overcome his intense fear of the unknown. He fucks with him and scares him, sure, but there are a lot of moments where he and Ryan will separate or Ryan will do something that pushes him out of his comfort zone and Shane is very quick to acknowledge that and say “I’m proud of you, I know how scared you are right now but you did the thing anyway and that’s great.”

Like even though he doesn’t believe in ghosts or demons or what have you and therefore is not afraid of them, he still recognizes that Ryan’s fear is real, even if the thing scaring him is not real or even a threat.

I just really hecking love their friendship and I hecking love Shane that is all.
