Schedule

You have until June 28th to suggest new categories for the event.

Those who don’t have tumblr will have until June 30th to register an email address to send your nomination ballot and vote.

NOMINATIONS: July 1st to July 13th (23h59/11:59pm) VOTES: July 16th to July 28th (23h59/11:59pm) CEREMONY: August 1st

(Please note that all due/end dates officially end at 23h59/11:59pm GMT that night)

Nomination Rules

To be officially nominated a story must:

have Berlermo as main ship

receive at least three nominations in the same category

For example: You want to nominate Specks of gold by Shotgun_Cake for Best Fluff, two more people must also nominate Specks of gold for Best Fluff.

If someone nominates Let’s make art by DorMarunt for Best Smut, but a second person nominates Let’s make art for Best Fic, both suggestions will need two more nominations in each category.

The Rules

Once the schedule is set, no more time will be allowed to nominate or vote

If you don’t have a tumblr, (and ONLY if you don’t have a tumblr) it will be possible to send your nomination ballot by email at [email protected]. You’ll have to provide an email address BEFORE the nomination process begins and your nomination ballot will only be accepted if it comes from a registered email address.When the time to vote will come, you’ll get an email to the registered address you provided to nominate works with a link to a google survey that will let you vote once. Please don’t cheat and send more than one. If we have doubts that you’re trying to cheat, your nomination ballot/vote won’t be included in the final count.

Everyone can make a nomination for any story as long as it centers around Berlermo

Nominations are not limited to what is posted on tumblr. The fic you want to nominate can come from ff.net/AO3 or whatever platform you publish on (as long as everybody can read it without creating an account). It goes the same with art and videos, as long as we have a working link to the nominated art/video, we’re good.

Everything that has been posted BEFORE the nominations end can be nominated.

The authors/artists can nominate themselves and campaign to have their followers nominate them

Everybody can nominate as many work as they want for each category. It doesn’t have to be their own (but it can be). If you forgot to nominate a work, you can still submit another nomination for that work.  

Authors/artists may decline to participate. They have to explicitly tell us they don’t want their fics/art/videos to be part of the event.

If a story gets enough nominations, that story can be placed in more than one category (see example at the top of the page)

Works in progress are allowed to be nominated in every category (except for Best OS obviously) as long as they have at least three chapters posted before the end of the nomination process

Please, don’t forget to add the author/creator’s name when you nominate a story/fanart/video

We’ve got some anonymous asks lately accusing the Awards to have been “another popularity contest”.

Just to be clear. The idea when we decided to organize the Berlermo Awards was to shine some light on less known authors/artists. We said in the rules that you could campaign for your fics/arts. We didn’t see a single post to promote your work. When someone asked us to add a non-english category because they didn’t read in english, we did it to include the fandom as a whole and not just the English speaking side.

YOU decided to nominate who you call “popular authors/artists”, YOU decided to vote for them. 

The rules were clear, you HAD to have been nominated at least three times to make it in the official list. Guess what? When we saw who had reached the number of nomination needed, we decided to include fics/art/videos with only two nominations so the same names would not be the only ones nominated in each category. 

We also decided to include every single fic nominated in the “Best first fic” and “Best this should have more kudos” categories so everybody nominated would have a chance to win. 

Once again, we didn’t decide who would be the nominees or the winners, the fandom did. Someone once said that the Awards felt like government elections. It works the same, you can’t complain about the ruler of your country if you didn’t bother to go and vote. 

Someone asked if we could at least post the final stats and/or the second and third places. We won’t do it because that would once again be called a “popularity contest”. Just know that NONE of the nominees were left without at least two votes on their fic/art/video. 

And lastly, saying that the Awards are a popularity contest ONLY is not very nice for the authors/artist who spent days and weeks, even months sometimes, working on their fics/fanart/video.

Sorry for the rant, but we felt it was needed.

We’re such a small fandom but our authors and artists are very talented and we would like to remind you that even if you were not nominated or didn’t win, it doesn’t mean your contribution to the fandom is not appreciated!

We hope to maybe see you next year, it’s up to you, we’d be happy to host the Berlermo Awards again.

Sad to see that it was all in fact a popularity contest and not about the fics at all. Makes me really not want to start posting for this fandom, because I don't think anyone will read my works since I'm not "popular".

Hi!! No need to reply to this ask, I'm just letting you know you announced 2 winners for Best Martín POV and no winner for Best Andrés POV. I'm assuming Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic actually won Best Andrés POV and it's just a mistake, just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't caught it yet. You did a lot of work for this and it's truly appreciated. Thanks for the event and congrats for the wins.

It’s not a mistake Anon, they both had the same number of votes (same for Best fic) so they both won the category. And the Best Andrés POV is posted too.
