The sapiential books of the Bible teach that intense selfishness unleashes wars at every level, even within families;… by bernardo69
King Solomon left a great spiritual wealth recorded in his Book of Proverbs. He probably added not only his personal knowledge and experience to the book but also all that knowledge that was common in the Middle East, that universal wisdom for all human beings, but which was especially deposited in Israel. And the proverbs written by the great King have a very interesting characteristic: they all have the same format or structure, and they show the destinies of man according to the path they have chosen. This is why proverbs are a recommended reading to encourage reflection and spiritual meditation. And among the proverbs, the wise man left one for careful meditation: "The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the LORD will prosper" Proverbs 28:25. In short, this means first and foremost that whoever lives with selfish people can never have peace. Greed and personal selfishness are extremely destructive, and as people seek scarce goods such as money, honors, and power, this leads to wars. Greedy people, ultimately, cannot avoid conflict with others; there will always be an enemy to attack, because greed can never be satisfied, nothing is enough for the greedy person. But the fate of those who trust in God is quite different. The trust in God is a very special gift in the Old Testament; trust in God is faith united with that wisdom inspired by God. Trust in God implies a special knowledge of spiritual realities; it is not so much related to believing, but to that deep knowledge that comes from spiritual understanding and discernment. And he who trusts in the Lord, says the proverb, prospers, he progresses. And this is logical, because with the gift of the trust in God, something else appears, and that is common sense. And prosperity appears when common sense makes error not a habit but the exception. The proverbs, with their wisdom and knowledge, give Bible readers the secret of success.
