Trying to stop myself making an essay sound like a sermon is something like *how do I quote Mother Teresa without making this too 'inspriational'**how do I talk about prayer without it sounding like I'm talking to my young people**can I say that without it sounding like preaching to the converted**how is prayer even academic in the first place**help I have no theology books**what even is prayer**do I have an argument, the answer is no**cry*
Maybe I shouldn't be writing at almost midnight 😂
So you know in the Bible there's King Ahab? Who else thinks of the Captain from Moby Dick? Just me? Ok.
I just remembered something concerning I asked when I was younger
When I was about 9 or 10 in bible school, we were talking about heaven and how it’s amazing and all that stuff. We were asking questions left and right, like kids do, and then some kid asked a question I thought nothing bad of.
He asked if his dad could still hit him in heaven. With my relationship with my parents I thought nothing of it except that fact that it was a good question to ask.
I didn’t understand why the Bible teacher were so scared to answer the question. I asked if they could still yell at us in heaven. Which only made them give us concerned looks. Eventually they answered, telling us that our parents can’t hurt us in heaven. I was happy with that answer and slightly more determined to make it to heaven.
I never thought anything of the questions tho. Parents being abusive was just something I thought was normal back then. It wasn’t till now that I realize how scary those question from such young kids were. The fact that I was so happy with the answer was scary too. That fact that we had wondered these things is scary. And the fact that I haven’t seen the other kid since is terrifying.
