“You will have days where you feel better, and you will have days where you want to die. Both are okay. There is no magical cure. You just need to close your eyes, and trust that the waves will pass, and soon you’ll be able to breathe again.”
— Unknown
You've healed too much to let anyone bring back an older version of you.
Reign over me (2007)
Do you ever get the urge to talk and be vulnerable and tell someone everything that lays heavy on your heart, even things you don’t know how to say or describe what they are, you just want to be honest and put it somewhere out in the world so it’s not just your secret anymore, so you fight against being condemned to suffer alone and silent.
But then you remember how badly this went in the past, how misunderstood and shut down you were, the betrayal of those who knew you suffered when they hurt you worse, and you shut yourself up before you even get the chance to speak. Because you couldn’t bear it happening again. Hearing that it’s your own fault. That you’re making it up for attention. Or, the worst, feeling like you’re understood and believed only for this person to turn against you and realizing they lied when they pretended to feel for you. That they were just collecting info on how to trigger you into pain.
Or maybe you gave up on speaking, and you no longer have anyone to tell. You figure nobody would even want to hear all that. And yet, the human desire to let pain out with words and to create a bond made in struggle doesn’t leave. Because we need support and we need to bond and we need ourselves to be known to someone, even when there’s no options. There’s nothing wrong in feeling that. Human instincts don’t die even when it’s too dangerous to follow.
“My heart is so tired.”
