My new fascination ~ Antique and Vintage Cardboard Putz Houses

I have recently fallen in love with these adorable cardboard houses that I not only took for granted but disliked passionately when I was young. When it was time to find a tree for Christmas and my Mom headed for the attic and pulled down the decorations my sisters and I could not wait.. to hide the old muted colored cardboard houses with cellophane windows that looked so cheap and open the new plastic ornaments with the bright paint that were purchased after Christmas the year before.

Crystal Stemware

I love vintage  stemware. Maybe because as you hold it in your hand and raise it to your lips you are struck by the fact something so delicate has remained in such beautiful condition for so many years.  Where did it come from...was it a wedding gift, a house warming gift? Was it used for special occasions or was it treasured- sitting on a high shelf to look at only..  How many times was it wrapped carefully and boxed to move?  How many owners has it had..

1940's Libbey Rock Sharpe Crystal Service

1940's Libbey Rock Sharpe Crystal stemware in the Artic Rose pattern.

During the 1930's and 1940's the Cataract Sharpe Company, a high quality glass cutting operation who did not make glass of their own purchased blank stems from the Libbey Glass Company of Owens Illinois and decorated it at their factory in Buffalo.  

This pictured 16 piece assortment is in the Artic Rose Pattern and features a Star of David on the base
