hi there! this is my blog for my new hyperfixation, figure skating. my f1 blog is pitlanewrites, and my 'main' blog (that i never post on) is dreamsoftheworld. don't follow it. i do nothing there.

about me and my blog

this blog serves as a companion to my figure skating fanfiction, linked above. it is advised not to interact with or follow this blog if you are uncomfortable with real person fiction.

i've been a skating fan since october 2025. if i seem to know a lot it's because of autism. i follow men's and women's singles skating closely, but i don't know a lot about pairs and ice dance.

other things i like include chess, formula one, and video games. my favourite video game is chants of sennaar and i have nearly 4000 hours on the sims 4. i have also been playing a lot of terraria recently.

i am currently a university student majoring in language and linguistics! my first language is english and i'm at a B2 level in french :) i also know very minimal spanish, māori, dutch, and korean, and i am currently learning japanese!

please do not share my work anywhere where its subjects could stumble upon it by accident. please keep rpf to spaces known for it.

while i write explicit fanfiction, i prefer to keep discussions of sex away from this blog. all posts with themes that may go beyond what is considered 'safe for work' are tagged with 'nsfw'. minors are politely requested not to engage with these posts. adults are welcome to discuss these in DMs :)

grand prix assignment thoughts:

huffing the 'ilia plans to skate' hopium

i can't believe that they'd give a grand prix to juniors #1, #2, #5, and #6 (#3 is still too young) but nothing for #4. please throw my boy yanhao some crumbs. china can you give up one of your host spots so he can skate where he was born please

lowkey super surprised at some of the choices for just one grand prix assignment. i would've thought that iida and kimmy would get more than one. and i was also surprised for only one for deniss vasiļjevs.

pretty sure lajoie/baker is the only new pairing to actually appear in a grand prix. team usa has been nerfed this season for pairs omg they shuffled the whole discipline and now have nobody...

the state of quad-jumping is fascinating bc there seems to be a weird pattern where you have to sacrifice one more common quad to do one less common quad. daniel grassl, one of the few skaters who can do a 4Lo, has never done a 4T in competition. shun sato, the only current japanese skater with a 4Lz, hasn't attempted a 4S since he was 16 years old. nikolaj memola can do both a 4F and a 4Lz, but not a 4T or a 4S. out of everyone who has done a 4Lo in the past two years (excluding russians), only ilia can also do a 4F. the average number of different quads someone at the top level can jump somehow evens out to about two either way. it's just that sometimes we have the gogolevs, who can jump 4T and 4S, and sometimes we have the memolas, who can jump 4F and 4Lz. quadg0d georg, who can jump all six different types of quads, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
