All rules for Lyric are equivalent to Des!

Desmond "Des" Manuel V is my concept for a DSM-V-TR dateable! I'm a therapist IRL, and thus this book is often glued to my side.

Des uses they/them pronouns and is Lyric's younger sibling. They have several diagnoses - they are most open about their autism, but feel free to dig deeper! They identify as asexual and panromantic, and by god if you wanna try to romance them, you may.

Des posts may include serious topics regarding mental health, and will be tagged appropriately.

Des is happy to field questions about mental health, but I ask that you do not approach Des in their house-based capacity as a therapist unless you are also an inanimate - not yourself.

While it is unethical to provide therapy to friends, family, and loved ones, Des functions as the object world's therapist, and as a result is not bound by the real world's laws and ethics - another reason why they only offer services to inanimates. (They also technically are not professional, as they do not accept pay, but that's more nitpicking for ya.)

hi lyric, hi des! merry christmas! i hope you both had a great day, whether you celebrated or not!

Merry Christmas to you and all those who celebrate! All the holidays are wonderful, and it's enchanting to listen to the stories that revolve around them, don't you think? My day went well for that reason - there are many books with Christmas stories!

[Des seems a bit slower to speak up, but they nod their head.] I do not celebrate many holidays, and even fewer that are rooted in religion. That being said, I do attempt to know the habits and customs for each one, to better understand my clients.

If you want to do floor time, I am happy to join. I like to be on the floor. It is an exercise that has had clinical studies provide results of helping balance yourself and sort through internal chaos.

[Lyric pats Des affectionately on the head before they sit on the floor, progressing into little more than a starfish.]

Ah, a very astute question! It may be, but with all literature, there are many interpretations one might take - for example, another might argue it to be a bookworm!

You're going to do wonderfully, B! Make sure to rest up and remain calm - exams are important, but not more important than health!

Oh, um. [Des fidgets slightly.] I am sorry. I did not want to interfere with Lyric's turn, and I did not want to hug you before you were ready, so I wanted to wait for my turn.

[That being said, Des does come forward to hug you. They leave their chin on your head, cheek slightly pressing against it, and provide a firm, yet gentle hug. It seems to sap tension right out of them.]

Des, what's one childhood memory that you remember especially well?

[Des taps their fingertips across their arms lightly, considering. There is a small moment where they light up.]

I remember meeting Mateo. When Lyric was too busy to watch me he would send me to the rescue sometimes. Mateo didn't mind when I asked him questions - I had a lot of questions. It was nice to sit there and ask things about textiles and get answers without being treated like a little kid.

if you could be good at any profession without having to receive the accompanying education or trade experience, which would you choose?

Poker.

Desmond, they mean something you may not already be good at - I for one would admittedly say author, given that I currently feel as though I lack the skills - but otherwise I would love to work making stained glass! Such a beautiful craft, and capable of telling stories in its medium!

Mm. Then, maybe. Cooking? A chef. Um. I am not very good with food. If I could be, that might be... helpful. Nice.

He shakes his hand carefully, seeming to time the handshake before pulling away at exactly three seconds.

"It is good to meet you, Lyric, I represent the new guitar the owner has gotten. Not as.. Vast as your coverage of the house, regrettably. I am located in the bedroom, but I decided that it would perhaps be beneficial to wander and meet new people."

A soft hum could be heard from the doorway into the room before a clearing of the throat. A man, about 5'7, was standing there now. He was definitely new to the house, looking around curiously. He soon spotted Lyric and perked, approaching him with measured steps.

"Hello, we haven't met but I have been hearing about you, so I decided it would be productive to introduce myself. My name is Orpheus."

His tone was low and calm in a way that sort of suggested this was seen more as a requirement than a want.

Oh, of course! Screenplays often find their way into my collection, after all - to say nothing of the Bard himself, Shakespeare! Plays so often are akin to books being breathed to life, watching scenes unfold before you in such very human ways!

I do not think I have seen any musicals or plays. Reading screenplays is nice, though.

A strange situation, hmm? Well, I won't lie, the Dateviators themselves prompt for quite a strange situation indeed - there have been all sorts of odd happenings over the years. Beau rifling through my archive for hints to some adventure, waking up next to Betty one morning after a homeowner's late-night read, or perhaps when Doug once approached me asking for sudoku books-

Des!  If you were a ghost tied to one location in the afterlife, where would you haunt?

[Des seems somewhat startled by the question, though they still take the time to consider it.]

Like Zoey...? Mm... I would like to haunt wherever Lyric is. Would that be this house? Or... would it be like being tied to my object still? Would I be able to haunt my own book?
