“Get ramen?” The offer caught Haruhi off guard, and for a moment she almost said no. When Mei had asked the question, her head snapped up and her eyes widened as her plans for the night played through her head. There was no good excuse that she could come up with except homework and laundry, and the homework wasn’t even due for another week.

“Okay,” she finally said, smiling softly, “but it better be the best ramen that I’ve had.” It would be fine. And besides, the girl didn’t have many memories about going out to get food with her friends. This couldn’t hurt. “As long as it’s okay that I loiter for a bit. I wouldn’t want to get you in trouble or anything.”

“Of course. It’s fine. You won’t get me in trouble. He should be here soon” Mei says with a smile. He was rather excited to go to dinner with Haruhi. He really did want to get to know her better. They really didn’t get to chance to the other day so he figured this was a great opportunity.

“Im going to pack up my things. Be right back” he says before he goes into the backroom to pack up his things which really was just his backpack. He made sure to check that his wallet was in the front pocket before putting it on. He went back out front. 

To his surprise the front door jingles and he was overjoyed. “You’re early thank god. Anyways I’ve got to go” he says to the next shift person. He then turns to Haruhi and smiles. “Let’s head out Haruhi. The place can get packed quickly so we should try to get there before it does” he says  before he holds the door open for her.

  Mei and Haruhi had gotten rather close over the weeks. Some nights he’d come back a bit late to hang but not too late for a video call so he’d video call her on his laptop as he does some assignments. Sometimes they’d chat about their days or sometimes they’d complain about something that happened. They just liked engaging in conversations together. 

  One night they decided to have an online video study session over one of their core classes in which they shared a teacher but not class day. This meant assignments were the same. Mei was taking down notes in his notebook before he turned to look over his screen to see what Haruhi was doing. He noticed that the female has fallen asleep on her desk

 Mei couldn’t help but chuckle softly to himself. Haruhi looked so peaceful in her sleep. He didn’t want to disturb her or make any noise to wake her so instead of ending the call (as that would alert her) he just mutes his mic and continues on studying until he grew tired himself and he was forced to end the call. Before he goes to bed he un-mutes his mic and whispers a sweet “Goodnight Haruhi”.

Kanra looked at Mei as she pouted a bit more. Hearing his words about Miyuki she slowly lowered her arms a bit. He hit that small nerve. Glancing off to the side she lightly bit her lip before rubbing her neck a bit. She didn’t need to hear him say all that. 

“Ah you didn’t need to say that.” she muttered softly. Seeing him sit on the chair she gave a heavy sigh. Getting onto her bed she plopped down. “Can I just rest on the bed? I really don’t feel like sleeping…” she grumbled a bit. The brunette lifted a hand up to rest over her eyes. She figured if she didn’t look at him then he wouldn’t continue to be a butt. 

  Mei glared at her. She was being a bit stubborn and it was beyond frustrating. Still she was at least on the bed this time so Mei reluctantly let it slide. “Alright fine. You can rest but you need to rest your eyes more importantly so have them closed” he states.  

  As she rests her hand on top of her eyes, Mei couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He figures that counts at closing them. He sighs. “I’m doing this because you need sleep just so you know. No other reason for this” he adds, making sure she understood that.

“Oh!” It was a surprise to see Mei here at the store, but it definitely wasn’t a bad one. Honestly, between classes and work and clubs and other things, she had found herself thinking about the boy that she had met on the first day of classes and wondered how she could once again meet the male that she believed she had befriended.

“Yeah, I guess it does,” she replied, giving a soft smile. This was definitely a pleasant surprise, and it was even nicer that she was able to see a familiar face here. “It’s- It’s Mei, right?”

“Oh, I, uh, I was just on my way back home from work and thought I’d pick up some quick meal or something.” Her shift at the coffee bar had ran late because of training and close down, and the last thing she wanted was to return to campus and walk all the way to the dining hall on campus before returning to her dorm. “I was- do you guys have ramen or something similar to that?”

   Mei was happy to see her again. It was nice that they met once more. He didn’t want to miss the chance to get to know here even more. He listens as she explains the reason why she was here and he couldn’t help but smile. This was the perfect opportunity.

  “Well actually I know an amazing place to get actual Ramen that’s not instant.  It’s way better tasting Ramen. I can assure you that. It’s actually quite close to here. I’m off in a like fifteen minutes, so if you don’t mind hanging a bit and chatting while we wait for the next shift person to arrive I’d be happy to treat you to dinner” he says happily. He was eager to hear her response and hopeful that she would agree this time.

Get Some Sleep|| Mei & Kanra

Kanra sighed a bit as she rubbed her head. Aqua eyes watched him as she gave a tiny pout. Hearing Mei speak she glanced off to the side. “Look I can’t just forget about it. I still love him.” she said as a small blush came to her cheeks. 

“I’m really not sleepy though.” she whined before she arched her brow a bit. “Of course you’d have to bring up a future game. Also how are you gonna make sure I sleep? You planning on staying in my room?” she crossed her arms a bit as she shifted her weight onto her left leg.

   Mei sighs. “Well if you still love him and he loves you he would want you to get some dam sleep” he states. “So please get some dam rest. And of course I mention a future game. Its important to be in the best shape for games, Kanra. You should know that”.

   Mei situates himself on her chair. “I’ll stay here until you sleep if that’s what you want. I just want you to get some rest. We may not be close but I know you and Miyuki would kill me if he knew that I didn’t try to get you to bed. You knows he cares and he only broke up because he is going to go pro. So just remember that. I’ve known  miyuki for a while despite not going to the same school. I know that when he cares about someone he really truly cares about someone. I could tell that he really cared for you. So just remember that” Mei states.

“Kanra, just please. Get some sleep. You need it.”

    Sapphire crossed her arms over her chest as she glared daggers at the boy in front of her, not a care that she had probably scared the living day lights out of him by having jumped down so suddenly from the tree. It was automatic payback for the heart attack he had given her when he had nearly hit her with the stupid baseball.

     “You so did! Don’t cha try and pretend like ya don’t know what I’m talking about!” She huffed out her reply, not budging from her spot or caring that they were in the middle of the side walk and some people were turning to stare at them in confusion. He’d brought the attention to them by screaming like a little girl.

    “It was last week at the sports center! Ya pitched the ball to hard and fast and your buddy missed it and nearly hit me in the face! He apologized for ya since ya weren’t man enough to run over and make sure I was okay.”

  Mei was literally caught off guard. He narrowed his eyes as she explained where the baseball incident supposedly happen and when he realize just what she was talking about he couldn’t help but be more annoyed.

 “Are you serious? That was ages ago and I did apologize but you couldn’t hear me and since he was closer to you he went and grabbed the ball and apologized for me. Christ. You literally stalked me and scared me half the death just for that! It wasn’t even on purpose. Hell blame Justin for not being able to catch my dam pitch. If he caught it this would never had happened. Have you thought about that, huh?”

   Mei knew of Kanra well because she was always at their games and also because Miyuki bragged about her all the time. Mei himself didn’t have a girlfriend or partner at the time so it was  a way to tease him. Still Mei knew that Miyuki had thoughts of going pro and also knew that Kanra was at his rival school when they met at one practice game.

  “Look, if someone I know isn’t getting enough sleep then of course I’m going to want to help out. I think you need to get some rest and forget about whatever the bastard texted you for now. Plus I don’t want to go against someone who didn’t get enough sleep during a game. It just wouldn’t be fair”

  Mei sighs. “Please Kanra, let’s get you to bed”.
