Caught up with BNHA manga scanlations thoughts - spoilers

If there are zero emotional/physical consequences to any of the UA students that went along with the police raid, I’m gonna be extremely pissed. A bunch of grown adults thought it was a good idea to have teenagers/interns tag along on a raid of a yakuza compound and NO ONE gets seriously hurt or dies?

Yeah I can suspend my belief for a lot of things, but you lose me on that.

It’s a cowardly narrative to be too afraid to incapacitate or kill one of the characters involved in this horrible idea of a raid. These adults/teachers need to see some consequences for their short-sighted and kinda stupid actions or the narrative will fall into the same pit of low stakes/no consequences that Naruto fell into. I stopped reading Naruto when Kakashi was revived because fans were mad about it. It would have been a much stronger story if they had the balls to kill their sacred cows but Kishimoto, as much as he should be respected, never did and so it became a cycle of not caring what happened because you knew there’d never be real consequences in the story for the characters.

Please don’t fall into that same trap, BNHA. I’ve been loving you so much :(

Bnha has been better about doing this. eg Deku’s scars and change of fighting style to prevent further damage to his arms, and then there was Iidas brother having to retire, and a pussycat girl doing the same. Though it looks like theres a pattern of keeping great damages to only side characters. We’ll see what happens as the Eri rescue arc continues and concludes.

--Agreed, though like you said, they seem to keep it to side characters. I would say it’d be ballsy to do something to Mirio as he’s the one right now in the most danger - and perhaps Kirishima will see some blowback considering how bad his elbows were looking after the fight (seeing his ligaments and all ugh).

I’ve just been burned before with big shounen titles like Naruto and BLEACH that had a terrible habit of there never being real consequences for actions and just hope we see some sort of fallback from the kinda ill-advised raid.
